    Just had one go over the Glen Jackson bridge in Portland OR. On Valentine's day. The plows made a perfect ramp. 150' plunge into the Columbia river. Extremely sad.

    They need to have higher guardrails on these bridges. There was one in Wisconsin where the vehicle went off the overpass and fell 75 feet. That driver survived. There was anothe one in Chicago where people died. The snow berm launches vehicles.

    Great tires or bad tires...the DOT should not allow snow berms (ramps) on bridges and overpasses. Just because drivers from Norway are the greatest drivers in the snow, of ALL time...there shouldn't be hazards on the roads for the rest of us simple and average drivers.

    @Theely Minnesota iron ranger here, -20 winchill is not that bad. It's -34f at 2am here now without a windchill, and it's the wormest day in 2 weeks so far up here. It's Minnesota it's normal and it's life. T-shirts are the sign of a true Minnesnowtan when it gets chilly out.

    I was looking for a comment about that. Any double digit negative temperature is almost unbearable or impossible to do any bare handed work. Any of us who have been frostbit many times in our lives know it only happens quicker and hurts more as we get older!

    I miss my Ranger. The only new vehicle I ever owned, I bought it in 1998 with 5 miles on the odometer and drove it for 18 years. I probably could have made it to 20 or more, but I hit a patch of ice on a curve, rolled it, and it was totaled. I'm glad to see that the one in this video appears to have made it.

    In Wisconsin recently a pickup fell 70 ft due to sliding on ice and up a snow berm and he miraculously survived

    I had a 1998 Ranger XLT 4X4 Off Road. Great little pickup. Drove it for 18 years. Green was a popular color for Rangers, but mine was Arctic White.

The very last 3rd-generation Ranger -- a 2012 model -- was also the final vehicle produced at the Saint Paul facility before Ford shut it down. The new Ranger, designed and engineered in Australia, is being built in Wayne, Michigan for the North American market.

    Yep. I had a similar model, only mine was white. I drove it for 18 years. Loved it. I'm looking at the new, larger Ranger now, and hope to get one in a few months if I decide I like it.

    Guard rails and snow in any form are not the problem ! If you can't answer what the only problem really is, well let me tell you my only suggestion would be you should really stay off the road, all types of roads !     I'm really surprised that Ranger didn't go completely over the edge. Rangers are known for having bad weight distribution that favors the front. They could have easily had a really bad time.

    Everyone holding down the back of the truck prevented it from going over the rail when the weight shifted as the door was opened and the driver got out. They definitely rescued not just the truck driver, but also the truck.

    I am just going to say I am thankful they are all okay! The truck could have shifted and taken them all down too. Not to mention all of the cars passing on winter roads were potentially dangerous as well. Just overall best outcome.

    I have a 2011 Ranger XLT Supercab similar to that one and the back of them are quite light so in the winter I have sand and or salt bags in the bed for weight and in case I get stuck.

    Iam a truck driver in Michigan and that's my biggest fear is losing control in the winter on a bridge. Dont understand why they dont have taller sides. Makes no sense to have 3 foot sides then add snow. Yikes! Talk about a ass pucker.

    Yeah. They should ALL have stopped. Then there could have been discussions about how to conduct the rescue properly, there could have been participation from people who were only adding danger to the situation, there could have been more people to rescue by the end. You make a great point.

    @@meatbag1341 I have lived in the twin cities since 1995 and I also have seen many,many crashes where trucks and cars were speeding on snow covered roads and ended up just like this truck is. and yes Bridges do become icy and very slippery in the winter months... that's why it's so important to slow down and yes there's also black ice on the road surfaces as well.. happy travels and remember. Just because it looks clear and dry.. doesn't mean that it is..
