    Hi Anthony, just wanna say first that I enjoy your vids and think you do a great job giving good honest reviews. I have been using a Neuma 4 for nearly a year now and agree with most all you said about it. I just wanted to say that I for one, have had great customer service experiences with the company. Maybe it’s because I started a dialogue through Instagram and use that platform for all communication with them? Not sure, but they’ve been nothing but helpful for me personally... Thanks for putting out great content, you’re my go-to for new machine info.

    That’s great to hear thanks for commenting! Customer service stuff is always so much more subjective than build quality or more concrete metrics for judging a company, glad to hear maybe there’s just a few of us that have had issues recently, I think this machine is stellar and I’d hate for people to not try it based on some bad customer service stories.

    Thank you so much for this video, been waiting impatiently 😅 Got the Neuma 4 in january. Like you say, it is very different. When I started using rotarys, pen machine specifically, it was very frustrating regarding speed. Everything took forever, but with this machine it feels like I'm back to the coil days. However, can't decide if the finished result comes out better with the Neuma 4 or the standard rotary. My main machine before, was the Inkjecta nano. It would be really interesting to hear more of your opinions about this. Thanks and take care!

    Hey thanks for watching! So I think for me it’s a style thing, if I’m doing something more traditional I’m leaning towards the Neuma for sure but for realism I’m still going with a normal rotary, like I said I don’t think the needle drag is an actual problem for most artists myself included but the hit of the Neuma does have a better feel to a lot of more traditional rotary machines. It has a place in my rotation for sure but if I could pick only one machine to use from now on I don’t think it’d be the one for me, at least not the way mine is configured at the moment.

    @@anthonyjenkins3335 awesome, thanks! In a way, the machine is a blessing in disguise. With all the many setups, you can really tailor it to suit your purpose. At the same time, it is a bit overwhelming to try and figure it out. I mostly use the 20 % with 3,6 and the 4,2 stroke length for outlines and the 33% for both shading and color work. All with the brass cam. Just tried the aluminum for shading, liked the end result so gonna explore that further. dripdroptattoo is my insta, if you wanna check out my stuff. Cheers!

    I am looking at buying either the Neuma 4 or a Sidewinder. You say this is the best for lining and whip shading you've ever used; you've run the Kubin machines? I want the machine to whip shade well and act as my everyday liner. Good video, thanks a lot!

  • @1Dantrn

    Been using the neuma 4 since it came out and just recently upgraded to the shift grip and newest bearing arms. Agree with much of what you said. Though I've had nothing but positive experiences with Carson talking to him directly. The shift grip is one of the best feeling machines that I have used. The ergonomics and weight distribution is just ideal. I have all the stroke profiles for the 4.2mm and 3.6mm stroke cams and both bearing arms. The customization has nearly endless possibilities which also reminds me of the coil machine days. I've found for me the brass bearing arm with a 3.6mm stroke and 28 % stroke profile makes this a very solid all around machine. Some people will surely prefer the 33% cam to get even softer b&g shading. My second favorite lining machine is the Flux despite the bad press they've brought onto themselves. 3rd best liner would be the 4.0 unlimited. I like having a variety of machines and I typically use whatever I happen to feel like using that day. So I don't really use a single daily driver machine. I do have the stigma force and axys vallhalla coming in the next week or so. I'm expecting that Valhalla to move into one of my top 3 liners from all I've heard about it. Thanks for the videos. Appreciate hearing your opinions on these machines.

  • @1Dantrn

    @1Dantrn

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@ScalpEstetic the Valhalla has became my go to liner. It's just so easy to change stroke lengths. 4.2 for most areas then bump it down to 3.8 for softer areas to avoid blowouts. Then you can also just as quickly mid-tattoo just dual it down to 2.5 for shading. It reminds me most of the inkjecta with a dial to adjust stroke length freakishly fast. I've been told by a few people that the motors give out in these quick though I haven't experienced that yet of course. And it's not comfortable to use with batteries like the critical battery so I'm stuck tethered to a cord 🤷🏼‍♂️. Trade offs I suppose.

  • @1Dantrn

    @1Dantrn

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@Cjmm007 I'd say it depends on your style. I've found I like a machine that I can adjust the stroke length on the fly. I'm the most comfortable lining with a 4-4.2mm stroke and I shade best when I can use a 2.5mm stroke. I'm just not as consistent using machines with any sort of "give". So I love the Valhalla. Another option is the peak proteus. I like it just as well if not better than the Valhalla but in all likelihood the Valhalla is built better. Heck maybe they're both from China factories. I still have the neuma 4. And I still use it. It lines great. Especially for large liners. I'd say solely for lining the neuma 4 and kubin machines are the best rotary liners available. The neuma 4 is quite capable of doing it all but you will need to experiment with a brass vs aluminum cams and different cam profiles. It can get a bit daunting. And as you collect more cam strokes and profiles you invest more money. Carson and the neuma company will provide you excellent customer service and a great product but I could say the same for axys. They've been great too. If I was forced to only keep 1 I think I'd keep the Valhalla though. For myself anyway I prefer the on-the-fly adjustment from 2.5-4.2mm.

    Unfortunately I had a similar experience with shipping, my machine broke at the rca pretty much straight away, after speaking to someone I was informed I was not allowed a refund. I had to ship the machine back and pay for shipping to have to wait for it to be returned fixed, the same machine. I'd already paid for shipping and import taxes to the UK but because my machine was faulty had to pay to ship back to the US and then wait for the machine. When the machine was back it had a better rca connection that actually worked. It felt as if the rca the first time just wasn't up to the job but because I'd ordered one of the first batch I guess I got an rca thst might work 🤷‍♂️

    Great in-depth review man. I owned this machine for a couple months and while the lining did feel superior to other machines with the "sharpest" profile I found it kind of lacking in the shading and coloring department unless I switched cams midway through a tattoo. I'm quite content with my Cheyenne pen and I feel that if I have to take apart a machine I might as well just set up a second one (usually a coil or Dan Kubin) for applications that call for a liner. I know there's kind of a divide in the industry right now with FK irons due to some unsavory actions by their CEO but I would love to hear your thoughts on the Flux

  • @anthonyjenkins3335

    @anthonyjenkins3335

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thanks man, yea that makes complete sense, the way mine is set up is definitely better suited to lining than color packing, it’s definitely up to the task although not quite as effortless as my Cheyenne machines. As far as FK goes I wasn’t a fan of really any of their machines in the first place and Gastons antics haven’t helped my opinions. As an example the first review I posted years ago for the Xion I basically said that it was too slow and wasn’t a good fit for me, and mentioned that it may have been overhyped, within 24 hours I had a message on ig from Gaston asking for my cell number which I gave to him and that night he called me and explained why I was wrong and needed to remove the review and redo it. So like an idiot I did instead of sticking to my guns. The Xion was slow, poor quality, over priced and overhyped by a massive yes man (and woman) proteam but I felt like I had to change my opinions on it. Anyway FK doesn’t need anymore of my money and even if it’s the best machine in the world I’d probably pass on it just so I’m not supporting anyone making racist comments in this day and age. I do have the new Stigma Force in hand as of a couple days ago and I’m really looking forward to getting to work with that one as soon as lockdown V3.0 is done in Ontario lol.
