For a mainstream media well recognized and established name I really respect you taking your own way and creating such open and honost content. I found great peace in reading the Quran after reading into beliefs and cultures and traveling talking to many thinkers. It was a surprise for myself....but I recommend you this book. Love your soul, all peace to you and hope to see you on the other side in a state of peace, content and with minimal regrets. Peace

@@merrykaczmarek3757 yes i like that Russell included that as being the first thing to be aware of - being of importance to your self - (rather than how can i look good /get approval /etc) from others. i have always been a very generous person , but i grew up in an abusive environment which i was still "in " because it was my family until my early 50's - only now - at age 60 faced with the fears of the lockdowns and all that stuff means - that i decided NOW i have to find balance and peace. i started meditating again - and watching Russell's vid's a year plus ago in the first lockdown - and thought well, there is what i have been needing to do. Be real, be balanced, and work at that . Now when someone lies to me or tries to take advantage i just quickly and simply say "i do not have time for those games in my life, so please go away." I also agree about the enjoyment one needs to experience. And not everyone gets fulfilment from "helping others" anyway. Or at least not if that's all they do. For example, I need to do competitive things, focused things, physically taxing and brutal things, and to be part of a larger body of disciplined people in order to feel fulfilled. So the armed forces then. But it has fuck all to do with helping people. And why would I help people if I didn't feel fulfilled? Why would I even live?

‘It is in giving that we receive’. That’s what my Catholic upbringing has taught me. I enjoy helping others. It’s in my nature, especially when people are in pain. My deepest source of pain however, and one I find hardest to reconcile, is when I am not supported the way I need from others during difficult times. My mum on the other hand is truly inspiring and rarely feels sorry for herself. She is able to dig down deep into her religion as a source of strength during difficult times...

Physically, I'm pretty much a nobody who drives an old pickup truck on dusty roads in the backcountry of nowhere. But metaphysically, I am a space cowboy called the Lone Ranger and I have taken command of a lightship. Like the Blues Brothers I'm on a mission from god. My "Mission Impossible" is to engage the supernova function on my lightship in order to fill a giant a**hole in space called ignorance (greed) with light (love)...so that it's darkness (misery, murder, mass shootings, suicides, war, etc.) goes away and it's heavy gravitational pull stops sucking the joy out of life. Then life can become a celebration with joy spilling out of the smiles of everyone. Like Love (god) intended for life to be in the first place. Because Love (god) spent billions of years creating this paradise planet lifeboat so that her miraculous works of fine art called "life" have a beautiful place to "be". Love didn't spend so much time creating this paradise planet lifeboat to be depreciated, hated, polluted and destroyed in a brief moment by hostile alien vampires (greed) and their ignorance (hate).

For me the alien is the paradigm of structure where people are taught to have power over others/things, and homogeneity...I don't know where these concepts came from. I think we are capable of operating via paradigms of service/caretakership, empowerment and diversity instead...

Great question; I'm not sure either but I wonder if it's about seeing the relationship as an opportunity to work further on yourself and you as a couple walking the same journey (develop unconditional love for self and all, connection with others etc) rather than just find comfort from one another. Same with children - I feel like they are great reflectors showing opportunities for growth.

Me and my partner made a huge shift in our relationship when we fully committed to becoming a multicellular organism. Talking about this concept helped guide us to talk about stuff and begin seeing eachother as a unit and what needed to happen to make that unit strong. we established a mutual understanding that there was no me vs him, that what was good for each of us is what’s best for the multicellular organism. What we do to eachother we do to ourselves. This made us kinder and more compassionate. the commitment also just helped us be less petulant and more mature about grievances, being self aware about how our moods are affecting our ability to communicate or perceptions etc.

I love this question! I was in a long term relationship of 20+ years and now looking back in reflection I feel I understand better where it fell apart. The traditional saying was behind every great man is an even greater woman. To modernise this saying and give a broader perspective to it, I feel it should be; behind every successful relationship Is the willingness give selfless support to another person in such away that it enriches both of your lives. Love is the word that describes what is essentially an action. We can say that we love someone a million times, unless it is backed up by an action that makes the other person feel loved, then it still remains just a word.

That's great advice for people who are self-centered and separated from the source, but there are a lot of people that are the other way, full of purpose and spirit but in denial of their body and own needs, so they can't perform to help the world. When they feel good about something, they think they are being selfish. One can only find purpose when the two sides are in balance and you allow to be moved by joy instead of pain and suffering. If we all find what brings us joy (and I mean the joy that comes from the soul, not the one that comes from eating an ice cream:), if we find the joy that makes our hearts vibrate and makes our eyes burst with tears of joy, then we'll find a purpose that serves a higher good. Joy is the sign that we are doing God's work and connected to the source, so bringing to the world what is in heaven.

Hard to believe that such a smart and wise man was married to Katey Parry at one time. Married in India on a elephant or camel, I forget. Thank God, Russell, you saw the light and changed. Thank you for that.
