You know children will fight sleep.. you see their tired cranky face but they fight it? Thats me. When I was young I woke up to my uncle hurting me in my sleep. Its like my brain says I'm safe my body still remembers and says no we aren't and I fight sleep like a child does. Days will go by until finally my body gives out .. exhausted from guarding

Better to turn an imaginary enemy into the reality by talking to people who can help you you know? I had difficulty when younger and actually fell down due sleep deprivation at one time. None of the drugs really do help that much however that depends on you . Here in the states we are not following through with suing Gov's and we really should Because the 4 that did made a dent in this thing If all of us did this it could? change things An imaginary enemy can hurt you believe me potentially more or just as much as a real one Learn about your enemy and follow them out of respect Tao and learn how to defend against them too outright *

After a 30 year career in Firefighting, I developed a wicked sleep disorder from the shift work and constant fight or flight of responding to emergencies. Have tried lots of sleep hygiene and other tools. Watched this 3 times and then started on my own on the forth night. zzzzzz Thank you, I am very grateful. Love

Thank you for your service! I hope that less stress, is a contributor as well. As a kid I used to do just that, in counts of 5, and imagine that I stood with my face right in front of a white, blank canvass… it was my whole field of vision. If my imagination started drawing on it (🌬🧞‍♂️🧞🧞‍♀️💨) with Smokey swirly colors, I would force myself back to “white canvass! White canvas!” Somehow my dumb ass thought about it all by myself… FWIW (So revealing about humanity and society, that even if we don’t know all the intricate details, somehow we know FD, and even soldiers mostly, are doing work that allows us to have a less stressful life, and are contributing to our life expectancy. Yet cops, somehow we know, it’s not so clear cut, they pry into our lives, spy on us, in ways and on issues that many of them disagree on. Essentially, they aren’t to be counted on for solidarity. They sell out their own principles, values, and class members, so elites and corporations, may see less of the wreckage they cause. And we’re all smart enough to know, the that disconnect is eventually going to tear one’s psyche. And ain’t no body wanna be there, when this shit happens, you feel? They substituted believing in the mission/job with believing in the brotherhood, and that’s too much like being 16, it’s dangerous for the community) Wow, midnight rant! Thank you so much for this, Russell. I have been unable to sleep normally since my son committed suicide 6 years ago. I have been to sleep doctors, psychiatrists, neurologists and others. They all just want to put you on medication. This will not solve the problem.. If one of those doctors had taken the time you just did in this video to talk to me and showed me this technique you have just demonstrated, I would have been much better off. This has helped me very much. God bless you!

The way I meditate before I start to feel that meditation buzzing vibration throughout the body - I slow down my breathing. I start to empty my mind with every breath that I exhale. Whilst doing that, I relax my body starting from the toes, to the shins, to the things etc until you reach the head. Then I pretend that my body is made of lead. It’s so heavy that I’m sinking into my bed from the weight. Then, I do exactly the opposite. I pretend I’m as light as a feather. Doing this extreme opposites, I float much quicker in a relaxed state. Mind you, this technique I use to prepare myself for lucid dreaming. It works like a charm.

@@moomoocowsly Nah, I know what you mean, but no. It's just a common vibration that occurs in a deep state of relaxation. I dont breathe in too deeply. And I reduce the breathing to about a sixth of what my usual breathing is. It's incredibly slow. It helps me with relaxation. I'd say it's a case of LACK of oxygen haha. Ultimately, who knows why it happens. I'll have to read on it. Also, the nose starts tingling at first. Then afterwards, the 'hum' of the vibrations spreads throughout the body.

Interesting thanks for sharing. I have similiar experiences of time and mass/size/distance/ disparities. I sense sometimes massive heaviness or more often an extreme, extreme lightness. As if I did not possess a body. Other times it feels as if my extremities are located at great distances away from me. Such an enthralling exotic feeling. But it is the clarity that is most resounding.

Absolutely agree. The Aubrey Marcus meditation uses this method and it’s always the deepest meditation I experience 🤤

I'm loving your very accessible, easy going meditations sprinkled with humor. Other mediations I've tried to do, the environment was so serious and intense, it just kinda turned me off (and then made me feel guilty for not being able to get into it). Thanks! 🙏

This really helps me calm down. I have a sleep disorder, and all the drugs the Drs prescribed haven't worked very well. Apparently, meditation therapy is the answer. Thank you❤

Nice... I've learned how to calm my restless spirit a couple years ago... I've had full-blown insomnia since I was 8 years old... It does come and go so I'm not so sure how full-blown that is but as of lately and specially on full moons for some reason I cannot sleep neither can my daughter... I found meditation to be extremely helpful and just fine in the center of oneself is certain truism again sleep deprivation. Thank you Russell for this meditation demonstration.

I am falling asleep watching. Also I’ve been listening to your new book and during the day it’s fine but at night your voice puts me right to sleep. Another commenter suggested you do some ASMR and I am 100% on board with that.

This sounds a lot like how Ajahn Brahm does guided meditation; although he starts with the feet, sending loving-kindness from there on up. Is Russell Buddhist? I love it!

When your brain is busy, breathe slowly and deep, count as you breathe. I usually fall asleep by 8 breathes. Deep breathes. So relaxing - it clears your mind of the clutter. Russell, you are right on. Thank you for helping people.

I have always been shit at meditation and tend to suffer from a drifting mind. Found out that although it's a hinderence normally, it's ideal when not sleeping at night! I sit for a while and start to drift off and then slowly head back to bed.

I have severe insomnia and I usually smoke a joint to help me sleep, but I'm pregnant now, so I can't do that anymore. I don't know much about meditation, but I'm going to give this a try.

Hi my friend, I would like to get more of this, my only issue is that I am not working right now, because I am fight for my life, I have three Cancars at same time, they are almost at stage 4 . I have been getting kemo treatments and been keeping positive mind and try to look at the best in poeple and life. Been stressed out for too long with too much factoring in. I will try this,to try and sleep or meditate to recharge somehow. Currently getting over an ear infection that's literally a pain,but am on antibiotics where I do nod off at times,but get up and feel nothings been done. No rest, and what balance that has been made keeps falling apart because I just can't keep the juggle right now. I know others that swear by meletonin,but it doesn't do much for me, and it seems too much gives me seizures. Thank you for a better option
