While smooth floors and shoe type play a part, there's also the immense precision and body awareness required. I could "glide" with those things, but controlling myself properly and not going face first to the floor? Don't knock talent. These people could move smoothly - less easily, and they wouldn't get some of the slick spins - on rough stone or even carpet. Given time, they would adapt new moves to incorporate the floor's properties. But that would be a different style of dance. The need for some people to downplay skill astounds me. Just watch the amazing people glide across the floor and make magic.

We generally don’t use leather soles. They are too slick and we are often supporting the energy of our partners. Typically suede shoes work best for our purposes.

Because connection (weak or deep) exists outside of romantic love, crushes, or family and friends. It can be planted and nurtured to grow between you and anyone when you open your mind to know and understand the other in more depth, avoiding giving to much attention or weight to things that would get you too confused or nervous, hence, clouding your reason. Their focus, their mind, is on being in sync with the music and one another, and enjoying the moment (from what I see), so they are very likely putting the things that would make it unnecessarily awkward, or even make it impossible, aside, in order to allow it to be(come) something natural/fluid.

He really does set the tone, just with that first head nod, and initiates the lead... which she appears to click with quickly... one can watch his hand placement on her torso, and she taps in with his style quickly. BUT, my favorite was him placing her hand on his neck and his spin to her! They complemented each so well! ☺️☺️☺️

he made space for it. that's basic leading. west coast gives tons of space for personal embellishment, because there's so little focus on footwork and musicality, as is the case with lindy hop. also it's a really slow song with a steady 4/4 beat, so not exactly hard to pick up on.

^^ agree 💯 Two dancers who are both properly trained, it doesn’t so much matter that they’ve never danced together before. A good leader will lead with body language and the way he communicates to his partner with his hands; a good partner knows what each signal means and responds accordingly - and so they dance in sync with one another. It gets better with practice, but this video shows two brilliant dancers who really know how to dance, no matter that they’ve never danced together before.

I’m 61, but I danced competitively n my 20’s. When I turned 40, I learned to salsa and then did that competitively. I still dance, but not like I used to due to health reasons. It's West Coast Swing. It has similar steps to the Latin (or Spanish) Hustle, a dance that was popular in the disco era. @@KasiaJangMiMalinowa

While smooth floors and shoe type play a part, there's also the immense precision and body awareness required. I could "glide" with those things, but controlling myself properly and not going face first to the floor? Don't knock talent. These people could move smoothly - less easily, and they wouldn't get some of the slick spins - on rough stone or even carpet. Given time, they would adapt new moves to incorporate the floor's properties. But that would be a different style of dance. The need for some people to downplay skill astounds me. Just watch the amazing people glide across the floor and make magic.

We generally don’t use leather soles. They are too slick and we are often supporting the energy of our partners. Typically suede shoes work best for our purposes.

Because connection (weak or deep) exists outside of romantic love, crushes, or family and friends. It can be planted and nurtured to grow between you and anyone when you open your mind to know and understand the other in more depth, avoiding giving to much attention or weight to things that would get you too confused or nervous, hence, clouding your reason. Their focus, their mind, is on being in sync with the music and one another, and enjoying the moment (from what I see), so they are very likely putting the things that would make it unnecessarily awkward, or even make it impossible, aside, in order to allow it to be(come) something natural/fluid.

They both follow each others moves amazingly. You can tell he starts following her moves right when she starts smiling. They both dances really well but when you notice her expression change is when you really start feeling it ❤

He really does set the tone, just with that first head nod, and initiates the lead... which she appears to click with quickly... one can watch his hand placement on her torso, and she taps in with his style quickly. BUT, my favorite was him placing her hand on his neck and his spin to her! They complemented each so well! ☺️☺️☺️

he made space for it. that's basic leading. west coast gives tons of space for personal embellishment, because there's so little focus on footwork and musicality, as is the case with lindy hop. also it's a really slow song with a steady 4/4 beat, so not exactly hard to pick up on.
Oh my gosh he's such a charming dancer, and she compliments him with her own moves so well!

It's talent of course but also A LOT of practice and watching videos. You have to be commited and dance with a lot of different partners. Eye contact is essential as well.

^^ agree 💯 Two dancers who are both properly trained, it doesn’t so much matter that they’ve never danced together before. A good leader will lead with body language and the way he communicates to his partner with his hands; a good partner knows what each signal means and responds accordingly - and so they dance in sync with one another. It gets better with practice, but this video shows two brilliant dancers who really know how to dance, no matter that they’ve never danced together before.

It's difference between veterans and others -- veterans always make it look smooth and effortless. They've made the mistakes, and performed to moves countless times before. I’m so amazed what a good lead this guy is. He’s so easy to follow and the girl is awesome with her facial expressions. You would think they have been dancing for years. I love watching dancing so much. I can’t dance good but that doesn’t stop me from loving to watch people that can dance. I think I have watched the clip twenty times straight. Again you two were absolutely excellent.

I’m 61, but I danced competitively n my 20’s. When I turned 40, I learned to salsa and then did that competitively. I still dance, but not like I used to due to health reasons. I've watched him do impromptu dances several times with new partners. He's such an incredibly amazing dancer. His skill level is beyond Charismatic. He can sync with anyone. It's wonderful to be paired with a partner who has some amazing dance skills herself ❤❤
