Ashwagandha helps in boosting immunity and especially gives very good results and gives very good result in controlling autoimmunity. Autoimmunity is your body’s own cells starts destroying your thyroid tissue and that is what leads to reduced production of thyroid hormones and your TSH levels rises. Thyroid levels after testing even though they are controlled including ashwagandha in your routine will do several things. Ashwagandha boosts digestion. So digestion being one of the major causes for every hormonal imbalance ashwagandha included in your routine twice daily as a powder or as a tablet or as a capsule will enhance digestion and helps the body have better hormonal balance not just in your thyroid but all glands of the body. Also ashwagandha will help in strengthening the immune responses in the body because of which any autoimmune activity which is going on in the body will be brought under control. But this might take several months. So the regular blood tests that you undergo have to be done to see whether your autoimmune levels are under control also ashwagandha is a very powerful rejuvenative herb. Any damage that may have caused to the body because of pollution or wrong diet and lifestyle can be rectified when you take ashwagandha over a long period of time. There are no contraindications to ashwagandha while you are on allopathy medications provided you take it with the recommendations of an ayurvedic physician. Do get yourself evaluated first. Make sure you are safe for taking ashwagandha. If there are any coexisting conditions which make ashawagandha contraindicated for you do get it evaluated first because from person to person there always can be a difference and then start ashwagandha. The only contraindication to it on an individual level may be if you are experiencing too much of body heat or burning sensation in hands and soles and high levels of acidity and a very poor digestion you might have to rectify that first before including ashwagandha because directly starting ashwagandha may trigger some sort of hyperactivity in the stomach. Also ashwagandha is extremely good for adrenal fatigue. That is because of stress levels and a poor management of stress which can also be a cause of autoimmune thyroiditis. You can experience poor energy level in the morning and constant fatigue. Ashwagandha is a must have herb and it can be life changing to include ashwagandha in such conditions.

It’s a challenge finding information on diet and supplements for people who’ve had their thyroid removed . I tried ashwagandha capsules for several days and had weird feelings in my thyroid area… so I stopped taking it.

Yes it is...it is an adaptagen and this brigs your body to balance..if anything is in excess it brings the levels down and if it's in less it promotes production to reach a balanced level.

I also have hypothyroidism and my Dr suggested I take it. As long as your Dr. knows you're taking it and you monitor your levels, you should be fine
