Can Modern Parts Make A Classic Be A Trackday Threat? Revology Cars 1966 Shelby GT350 First Drive

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Push button start, back-up camera, 5.0 liter Coyote V8, and a T56 six speed manual transmission? These are the modern day features you can find in Revology Cars' 1966 Shelby GT350, and it's a modern day take on a classic package.

Revology Cars takes the "Restomod" concept a lot further by going through the many thousands of hours to properly engineer a reproduction version of the 1966 Shelby GT350. The result is something that possess modern day hardware, like the Ford Mustang's 5.0 liter Coyote V8, and a T56 six speed manual transmission. Proper suspension work and decent tires made this traditional looking '66 GT350 into a real modern day track monster. Check out our First Drive impressions with an interview from Revology Cars Founder and CEO Tom Scarpello, and then see him wring this car out around Monticello Motor Club's beautiful racetrack.

tom and his very talented team of magic elves have crafted a fine musclecar, for someone who wants the vintage look and modern convenience and performance this thing is fantastic,my only criticism is the cost of the cars will put them out of reach of many folks, otherwise revology cars are a tour de force

@@DavidJSmith-hl6kb If I had $205,500 to spend on a car, I'd buy a late model Shelby GT350R, a backup engine and a backup Tremec T56 Magnum 6 speed transmission. I'd use the amount remaining to cover the ongoing cost of ownership (maintenance, fuel, insurance, etc.).

Yes the price is expensive but Part of that price is determined by the low volume federal standards. It's a double edged sword but fortunately (for them) there is a steady clientele who will pay for this product.

3:00 min mark... I have a 65 289 4spd and Yes it is that easy to rev match even an old classic mustang. Dude should drive an actual classic 1st gen before making comments about rev matching, complaining about the clutch and seat side bolsters etc. Keep up the good work Tom and Revology team.

The Revology is too expensive for a serious track day car. Great for spirited street driving and car shows. If you want a coyote powered early Mustang for track days I would convert an existing track prepped early Mustang into a Coyote track monster.

Dude, you're driving a car that has power brakes, steering, AC, freaking satnav, and have the audacity to call it a "time machine"? All while complaining about "gasoline smells" and heavy clutch. The whole point of these "old, unreliable cars that you can't drive" is to give you an authentic experience. After all, it's not like you can buy a modern Mustang for the price of this car. Or, you know, five of them. But, I guess sugarcoating is a trend today. next thing we're gonna be hearing is that 80's had the best music or something like that.

@@rsmasterng I know, I like the car on it's own, but to me it's just kinda worst of both worlds - it doesn't have any collectible value or authenticity that the old car has, not the performance and safety of new cars. You don't really buy this kind of car to daily drive, but to show off and showing off with a 5.0L Coyote that is not even supercharged? Pretty laughable. Not to mention that for around 200 grand that you have to pay for this car, you're much better off just buying a modern fully loaded GT350R and then getting a decent restomod, or maybe even documented 60's Mustang. But, I guess, if people are buying these things, that means they like them, and it's totally fine too.

  • @rsmasterng

Alexander Samarin I agree it’s a silly thing to drop 200k on but some people would buy it and that’s why company’s make these. This seems like something someone would do in their garage not really a shop build.

  • @DLMlive

@@TePPoP776 A supercharger is available with the optional Roush coyote. As a Shelby, they are registered as genuine at Shelby North America in the registry. They are also collectable and priced at a competitive price when compared to one off resto-mods. The differential is a factory titled car. This is not a consumer vehicle for the average wage but then, it was never meant to be that. The price and rationalization is much different when your wife is holding a $4000 hand bag and there is an empty stall next to your Ferrari.
