How Many Lego Bricks It Takes To Stop 150 Ton Hydraulic Press? We are going to use our 150 ton hydraulic press and 240 ton force sensor to find out can humble lego brick stop a mighty 150 ton hydraulic press? The press is able to crush hammers, axe, ball bearings, car jacks etc. really hard metal stuff so this shouldn't be hard task for it!

I would like to see what's stronger, a house brick or Lego made the same size as a house brick, so build a house brick out of Lego and see if it's stronger than a real house brick. And another, fill the void in the Lego with good concrete build it into a house brick size let it cure then see what's stronger. Loving the show and as usual, all the very best from Scotland.

Think about the structural lattice of all those little bricks randomly put together, it's so reinforced that maybe it's stronger than a solid block of plastic, which might just crack in half. Really cool experiment, Legos are incredibly strong.

I wonder how much stronger (or weaker) the lego cube would be if it were made out of plate pieces instead of full bricks. That would be 3 times as much structural lattice (since a full lego brick is the height of 3 plates) if you made the cube to be the same size. And if it does end up being weaker and it explodes, then that would be way more epic than just bricks because you will have 3 times as much exploding pieces (maybe).

I wonder if corrugated cardboard could stop the press when oriented so that the corrugations are vertically aligned with the ends against the bottom plate. The fewer dents and creases in the cardboard the better it would work. There are some really sturdy corrugated cardboard packing materials that are used when shipping heavy items like tools. Another thing to try would be different weights of cardstock. You could stack it flat or bind it together and try it on its edge. This was a fun idea/video! Thanks!

The crushed he peels apart from each other, reminds me of the flat legos that we all hated prying off of the other bricks.

haha cool vid! I wonder how pieces sizes impact the strength - i.e. if using only 2x2 bricks = more material = more strength?

I was lucky enough to never have stepped on a particularly painful lego piece, never stepped on a lego corner before. This is surprising since I used to completely cover my floor with toys.

I am curious how the brick dimensions would affect structural integrity. I'm thinking that for direct vertical pressure the 1x1 pieces would be strongest as they have no weaker sides with less reinforcement, they only have the small outer wall on all four sides, and thus a large array of them should be quite strong vs other size bricks which have less reinforcement along their longer walls. The problem I could see is that any deformation would allow them to blow out quite easily.

Legos would still have one additional weapon, which is the flat tops. They would prevent the top slots from buckling in and deforming the piece.

I think the top ones buckled slightly at the end is because they were expanding as the bumps got pushed in. I wonder if it would have been even more ok if you'd used flat pieces as the top layer.

Maybe start selling crushed things on your store like the Legos as long as they won't hurt people. It would help offset some of the cost for your projects and give fans souvenirs.
