Can I Make My Own Cross Stitch Pattern from a Photo? Learning to Cross Stitch!

In this video, I find out if I can make my own pattern to cross stitch a realistic looking Camellia flower. I recently taught myself how to cross-stitch, and I've made a few different pieces, one from a kit and the rest from patterns I made up. Those cross stitch projects were all pretty simple and cartoony, and I really want to see if I can make up a pattern based on a photograph that looks at least a little bit real. I'm using procreate and graph paper to make my pattern. Come craft with me!

Once again, you are fearless and fabulous!! It turned out so beautifully. In a way, it made me think of Georges Seurat's pointillism, but in thread.

LOVE what you accomplished and I'm happy to have the idea of this transfer technique to use in my art. Another time, you might like to try using a straight stitch to accent (delineate?) the various petals a bit more. I'd test it on a small piece first as my concern is that it would take away from the perception of the curving of the petals.
