Can I hit 55MPH on an Electric Unicycle?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This week I find out if the InMotion V13 is really capable of 55mph top speed.
So I never managed to pushed the inMotion V13 up to its claimed maximum speed of 55mph during my review, now that I am about to send it onward to the next reviewer. Its my last chance to push for its max speed and see what it is really capable of. This week, high speed test in one of densest city in the world, will I make it to 55mph?!

    I have had the Sherman S for about 1.5 months now, and even though it has a top speed of 55ish it seems due to air resistance the sweet spot for cruising is right around 40mph. I found it interesting that the same seems to be reflected in your video. I think we are at the point where having 55+ top speed doesn't really matter as the wind blast we get when riding at those speeds just makes it an unenjoyable experience. After all, we are literally standing straight up and down trying to shove a massive surface area through the air at high speeds.

    I currently own 5 EUCs and have been riding since 2017. I'm loving our golden age of unregulated, unlicensed riding. If these things get fast enough to ride on freeways (60+ mph), we're gonna start seeing a lot of deaths and subsequent regulation. I really hope EUC companies start limiting their speed so that we *don't* have to deal with regulation.

At 45mph I'm leaning much more than I could standing on the ground and above 50mph look like a full Kuji launch. 58.7mph was the fastest I have done on my Sherman s and that was almost full sport bike featle position on my toes and all the trust in my pads. All while hoping the velcro pads hold! I can't see braking much past 60mph anytime soon. Much more fun under 45 anyway

    Honestly short of some sort of tech breakthrough I am not sure if it'll ever be feasible to cruise comfortably at 60mph on an euc, and even if wheel have enough power to do it, with the amount of wind force you have to deal with, it'll always be a brief touch rather than sustained long ride. Maybe someone will figure out a way to attach a windshield to an euc?

    This video has valuable data for me. It shows a nice section of speed information when an experienced EUC commuter travels in big city traffic. I find that as my own experience progresses (now more than a year) that the speed ninja sneaks up on you. What used to be 15mph comfortable speed now is touching 30mph - all this is subconscious. It's not until the end of the ride that I see how fast my average speed is getting. I feel this is dangerous in tight traffic for obvious reasons. By seeing this video, I set myself a benchmark that I can use as a speed guide to help me avoid a disaster in the future.

  • @OWGAC

    @OWGAC

    Жыл бұрын

    for normal every day ride I don't really intentionally trying to ride faster or slower, instead I mostly stay at around the same speed as traffic and do whatever I think is the safest. for longer distance rides I did noticed that my average speed was up with the v13 since I am able to keep up even with 45mph traffic vs on other wheel I may pull over to ride more slowly on the side, which I actually think is more dangerous to have cars flying past you.

  • @ChrisH0Y

    @ChrisH0Y

    @@OWGAC I do agree. I sometimes get put in a situation where there is a narrow bike path with parked cars along the side. It's either travel at speed with the traffic, or risk getting "doored". As somebody in the market, the fact that they took Chooch out of the game, Makes it that I can't trust anyone's review regarding Inmotion as we know they will yank the wheel away if you're too honest about their wheels. That being said I think you did a good job getting the important information across. But imo to newbies, they're going to miss important safety things.

    As the french KZreadr Bonheur sur Seine sais about the v13, it's harder and harder to see the micromobility aspect with the newest faster wheels.. they become heavier and made to compete with motorcycle and a moto is not really considered micro... I love the idea of the v13, but I would only ride it under 50kmh, so maybe not suitable for my use. I'm still using my 18xl very often, which is still the best overall wheel ever made , small, light, portable, decent speed (yes, 40kmh is decent in my opinion) Do you know people in NY that are NOT speed demons or is the majority are riding at cars speed?? I often wonder.. Cheers.

    Never mind 55. That was quick, very quick. Too quick for me and that's for sure :-)

    wear a dolphin suit next time like the speed swimmers, maybe that will give you your extra few MPH on the top end. you could also try wearing a wind tunnel proven helmet, like my Bonehead Dynamic (skydiving helmet, but whatevs), which should allow you to slip pretty nice in the air along with your dolphin suit. Also arms forward probably scrubbed a bit of speed off you as well, again, from aerodynamics...if you went 51 with all that against you, I think you should have hit the 55 limiter no problem.

    My first real unicycle!(first one was a cheap plastic one as a kid kzread.infoUgkx4e2fa6x27dF7shCelntq0ZIKt4N0jELI I never learned to ride)So, this is a true learner, and for a C note, exactly what was needed. After a few weeks, I'm able to easily ride up and down the street. The Good: Solid frame. Has absorbed numerous spills through learning and still solid. Look - great looks, after 6 weeks of bashing Weight - it's really all tire, but as I fall I can easily grab the seat so it doesn't slam the ground. Size - Very adjustable. I'm 6', 33" inseam. I put it mostly up, but could go a bit higher if I needed to. The Bad: Not sure if it's out of the norm, but seat got scraped up quickly. Pedals - they are a bit uncomfortable and I can't get the right feel on my feet. But, they are solid and haven't been damaged at all as I've seen in reviews on other cycle's.- To address one comment about the seat connection not straight. Huh? Seat is on a round pole, you just turn it and it's straight. Either of the bad I expected to replace once I improved. I'd recommend to anyone else in the learning phase.

    Just listening to your fast, fearful breathing coming out of the tunnel…I think I’ll keep a lower speed, knowing I have room to scoot if needed. Be careful and enjoy.
