If so, do take a rest. At the end of the day, you got to listen to your body and do what’s best. Some will find that resting helps, whereas for some, doing some gentle exercises helps them.

I personally think this isn’t a question of “should/shouldn’t” or “can/can’t”, instead, we should listen to our body especially during that time of the month. I love what Joanna says here but I wouldn’t workout during my period just because she (or any other trainers) says so. Everyone’s body is different, and nobody can feel how you feel about your own body. I always take a 4-day break from exercising when I am on period (first 4 days), not saying I am just lying on the couch and do nothing, after all, I still have a life to live, but if my body is telling me I should rest, I rest. A lot of people (including this video here) say that exercising during period will help you feel better physically and emotionally, I tried and unfortunately that’s not the case for me, it intensifies my cramp and I bleed a lot more that makes me nauseous and faint. Nobody knows your own body any better than yourself, so listen to what your body tells you.

@@LoisDufegha I don’t think I misquoted her, she did mention to keep moving during your period and it will help how you feel over time. Also, I like Joanna too and I am a long time subscriber of her here on KZread and IG but that doesn’t mean I have to agree or compliment what she says every single time. We all have our rights to speak our opinion here as long as it’s not offensive, which I don’t think I have offended Joanna in any way here. I am only saying that I wouldn’t exercise during my period just because somebody says so and emphasizing that we should all listen to our own body, which is echoing her, if you would. I am not seeking agreement from anyone here so it’s totally fine if you don’t agree with me, but please do not misinterpret or twist what I said here as if I had wronged her, which I did not!

Everyone is definitely different, especially aging along. I was fine in my 20s working out the whole week on period but in the mid 30s now, symptoms have been developed stronger. Thought I could push myself on day two (stubbornness) and what she described as nausea and extreme body taxing causing even more fatigue was real. The overall take away for me is, listen to your body, don’t go extreme with high intensity, but don’t let the laziness take over completely.

During my periods, I keep it real light. I do yoga flow or pilates or both. I used to not work out during the week of my periods because I felt so drained and was in so much pain. But then I had to start all over again with my fitness level once my periods passed, so I started just doing light cardio for shorter lengths of time - like 20 mins or less. Depending on how I feel. It's actually helped reduce a lot of my symptoms over time. But of course, I still make it a point and rest too.

For me every month is a different story... Last month I was on high energy and was doing super sets and circuits and lifting weights. This month... Now...I am so tired and my cramps has been horrible and my body just doesn't seem to want to listen to me... I feel tired and my lower body aches the most. But I have been doing your 10 minute abs workout in bed followed by walking in the morning and later I do 40 minutes of Stationary bike at the gym. These are fine for me.. as of tomorrow onwards I am planning on strength training but mostly sticking to low impact.

I love doing yoga ,pilates or walking during that time of the month and I do feel heaps better. I follow it up with a hot bubbly bath and my fav pjs too help ease my muscle and cramps. I've also stopped replying on pain killers and take multi vitamins instead these help alot with the way I feel i think which is most important.

The row machine is my friend during this time. I just been going at a lower intensity for a longer time for full body cardio. Walking with some light weights is good for me until I feel my energy return. But I was worried I should be doing more and I was going too easy and undoing my progress. I'm glad this is acceptable to continue my journey.

Because i experience stomatch pain, I don't exercise in three to four first days of my period. In the remaining days I might do some walking videos or regular exercises depend on the bleeding amount.

I recently lost my period due to a lot of weight loss and doing intense hiit daily. I'm still trying to get it back. My last cycle was in June. I never thought there would be a day when I would miss my period cramps. Girls and women, appreciate your cycle. The bloating and cramps will go away once the cycle ends. Sorry. I felt I had to say this because there are many people who hate their period and complaining about it.

What you said was very dumb. Please take this comment down. You miss period cramps? What?? Is that even a thing? And you think we missed our period cramps? Of course we complain about our period. Its painful. If you miss it that bad, why don't you let one of your family member punch you in the guts as hard as they can? Or your just different. Like abnormally different. As someone who is suffering with period cramps right now, this is the most ridiculous comment I've seen.

@@senkaiasmr Are you saying it is dumb to spread awareness to people to appreciate their period? I lost my period. Do you know how that feels? Acne, a weak body, headaches and my lower abdomen hurts 24/7. I'd rather have my period cramps and hurt for a week rather than for nearly a month. That's what I'm saying. And no, I'm not taking my comment down just because you're dumb enough to misunderstand what I wrote.

  • @senkaiasmr

@@venisshaachenduru5678 Nobody appreciates periods. Well, some people does. For an example: you. I don't exactly know why not getting your period causes acne. But I'm fully aware you don't get a weaker body for not getting your period. And right now my lower abdomen hurts too aka period cramps. What you're experiencing is no different with period cramps.;; Headaches, a weak body, and cramps on your lower body. Instead of complaining for not getting your satisfaction of period cramps, I suggest you to see a doctor. Because what you explained isn't normal symptoms for people that doesn't get their period. I can't even stand up right now you see. And its hard to focus on my assignments. Go see a doctor. End of story. I don't have enough time to argue with people that "spread awareness" to people that doesn't want to feel pain.

@@senkaiasmr I already saw a doctor in august. She made me take a pregnancy test and ultrasound. Nothing. No fetus. No tumor. No bacterial infection. No inflammation. She gave me some pills. I took them. Nothing. I went to another doctor. She gave me pills too. I took them. Guess what, not a drop of blood showed on my panties. And I'm not here to complain about missing my period. What do you mean satisfaction of period cramps? Oh, I'm sorry if yours must be excruciating but there's no need to tear other people down for just trying to say some facts. If there's one thing you're finally right about is let's just end the story.
