The trick to using Luigi is to play him as Luigi, don’t try to make him be Mario. You could’ve jumped thru nearly every level with ease.

Recent games made it so Luigi's only thing is that he jumps higher and tbh I do miss when characters had weaknesses aswell as strengths. It actually made Mario a viable character since he doesn't have any weaknesses (at the cost of no special ability)

i like the little detail that whenever he swears of whatever game character he's playing as it's the sound effect of their game/close to their video game counter part, idk i just find it neat 😊

Its hard to say there's positive benefits for Simon seeing how he was designed from the bottom up to make his game difficult lmao Like, lets make his jumps awkward to lick up all the player's lives so Castlevania is 100x longer than it should be

Super Mario Crossover is so fun, I remember my go-to characters were usually Mega Man or Ryu Hayabusa. Cool stuff, really curious as to where I can play it nowadays Also, I get why you didn't play with this option (except for when it was necessary), but Modern powerups were by far my favorite way to play the game. You get access to the vast repertoire of powerups from each character's games, which makes Mega Man and Bass even more silly and makes Simon a little better.

To be fair, the difference is a lot to do with gaining skill after playing numerous times. There's definitely a difference between "This character is good, I just suck" and "This is the worst experience I have ever had playing a character in this game."

Watching so much Mario Maker content, I've seen a lot of deaths from "I can't believe that happened." Watching all these deaths was entirely "i can't believe he did that to himself."

18:43 Quite the lovely Irene sprite. I know it was made for the game (in the Ninja Gaiden nes games, Irene was only in the cutscenes as far as I know), but the style is on point.

Simon Belmont has more than one weapon, but you gotta keep keep collecting power up without getting hit in order to get a new weapon. Axes, Knifes, cross Boomerang, holy water, and a stop watch that stops all enemies on screen for five seconds.

Difference between Luigi is not only he can jump higher, but his traction is low. This means he feels slippery as if he's on ice. His mobility is hard to control. Regardless, I enjoy using Luigi more than I do with Mario.

God I remember playing Mario Crossover all the time when I was a kid, I had no idea who most of the characters were 'cause I grew up mainly on Mario, but it was still a blast to play....and die 'cause I don't think I ever completed it lmao

Ya Luigi's whole thing is that he jumps better, and overall is better physically speaking - but due to his cowardice and general lack of training his brother is still "better" via being much easier to control (less floaty).

That’s actually a really good explanation for how weird it is to control Luigi. He’s still very unprofessional and slips up very easily. Hell, his increased jump height could be a result of that too. Mario’s experienced enough to know how high he really needs to jump and not overcompensate, while Luigi is constantly trying to overperform and do well. Much like a lot of people during the first day of their job.

best way to play this game is random characters, skins and level themes. It's like warioware every continue as you have to figure out who the hell you actually are, what anything is and how to progress before Lakitu inevitably kills you immediately

High jump, bombs, missiles and the wave gun would be required Simon: Thank GOODNESS he has a double jump. You can also throw his cross, holy water and iirc the dagger, but it's modern power ups Mega man: Great in nearly every way (besides mobility in the air probably) Bass: Practically a really good character to play as especially with his better manoeuvrability Bill Rizer: If only you understand... We're talking about CONTRA. One of the hardest NES games ever. You gotta admit it's pretty faithful to it's source Ryu Hayabusa: Pretty cool? besides his lower jump height and standard weapon Jason Frudnick/Sophia III: BLASTER MASTER not MASTER BLASTER... anyways, just an utterly perfect character.

after beating the game with Bill you should've given another shot with Mario and Luigi, I think you could've beaten the game with them by that point

So, a funny thing about Luigi: His higher jump is a throwback to Super Mario Brothers 2 in the US, which was an improved version of Doki Doki Panic. Luigi in that was a reskinned character who had a higher jump than the other 3 playable characters, as well as more slippery movement. The thing about this is that Doki Doki Panic/Mario 2 is a more vertical platformer than most Mario games. His differences worked very well in their original context, but they start to be a huge disadvantage in games where there are a lot of precise sequential jumps like Mario 1.

Also, I think Link is basically just functioning like he does in the side scrolling sections of Link's Awakening. Which is... Actually really cool, and it's nice to see it works as well in Mario as it did there. I also suspect Bullet Bills being invincible is a nod to the cannon balls from Link to the Past.

Luigi's higher jump was from Super Mario Bros 2 aka the Lost Levels. He jumped higher but was slipperier.

I honestly thought that game shout out at the end was a sponsorship and I was like ???

Link's down spike is from Zelda 2 and the game is called Mario Crossover and its ment to be used on a keyboard as the C key switches weapons and some of the characters had to be changed in order to even beat the game

The problem with the first Super Mario Bros. game is its somewhat floaty controls, so I don't blame you (or anyone, really) if you lose by accident. It's not your fault; Nintendo still had to do a lot of fine-tuning in its early days.

If this Bass/Forte is the same as in Rockman 10 , he should do less damage with his buster, but of course it has rapid fire and is stopped by terrain. Frankly he's absolutely amazing to play in that game. The dash doesn't do damage, it's strictly about the mobility, kind of making up for the fact they took way Rock's slide when they came out with 9 and 10 and went back to the 8 Bit style. He can absolute fly through the levels because of it. I hope if we ever get a 12 they make him playable again.
