Thank you for this information. I was told I have HPV with legions on my cervix, I got the colposcopy done and they said they was going to monitor it. Well i don't want to keep going thru the pain of the colposcopy, i would think to get rid of them. Why didn't they suggest the Alif or Cold Knife procedure. What can I do naturally to get rid of the legions? I've been trying to learn about this. I dont want to keep getting picked and poked on. Thank you

Sorry that you are going through this. If your colposcopy and biopsy show mild abnormal cells, you can watch the cells from year to year by repeating your pap smear and possibly the colposcopy. If the cells worsen to high grade lesions, this is when we typically recommend surgery to remove them. Every surgery comes with risks and many low grade lesions may go away. These are some of the reasons why doctors usually don't recommend surgery right away. Unfortunately, there isn't any natural way to get rid of the lesions. But try to care for your body as best as you can by eating well and exercising.

I think the test for men isn't accurate or reliable or something like that.There should be more focus on this.By focusing on women we are not looking at the root cause!!

So if you pap comes back negative after being positive and being with the same partner does that mean he cleared it as well ?

If your pap smear was positive for HPV, then becomes negative, I would first be certain that hpv was tested on the one that was negative. Providers sometimes send your pap smear without hpv as a test and they may tell you your pap smear is negative, but they are not referring to hpv specifically. Second, if you have 2-3 negative hpv pap smears in a row, and your partner has not changed during that time (and you have unprotected sex), then it is possible that you both cleared the virus.

I lost my virginity when I was 27 years old and at 29yrs HPV was detected during my annual exam. A year went by and when it should again a biopsy was done, which showed the results to be beingin. I just had my annual exam again a week ago and Hpv high rish strains are still showing up. I've heard it can take 1-2yrs for it to clear... I'm on year two of it showing on my cultures. I'm just confused if I'll have to get a biopsy for the rest of my life until this clears, especially if you can become reinfected? I live an active lifestyle & aim to be conscious with food, I don't smoke etc. Being that I had sex too late will I ever clear this? I don't want to get biopsies every year 😔

Excellent question. The man can clear the virus just like the woman can. This just happens randomly and can't be controlled. If he clears it, she can clear it as well. Each person's body may clear it at different rates.
