He's entered his final form. Once Gordon has seasoned everyone, the roasted will walk the Earth.
The perfect burger would have a bun with sesame seeds on it and browned in clarified butter, then a nice thin piece of dill pickle, a thin layer of mozzarella cheese with bacon bits, a thin patty of beer batter flounder then some carmelized onions and mushrooms , crispy deep brown french fries in a row then the burger medium rare juicy and hot make sure to add hienz ketchup between layers. Accompany with a vanilla milkshake with a scoop of hagen dauz del deluxe carmelized ice cream on top. Desert if you can fit it a nice apple crisp with vanilla bean ice cream and a bacardi and coke. I have this for my birthday meal every year.
This was so fun to watch and thanks for the help on making a really good Burger.

Very experienced cooks associate the done-ness of food based on sound, color and smell not just sight. I think that's where that came from. After cooking tens of thousands of onions, he certainly would recognize the smell which he then would automatically associate with a color as well as the sound of the sizzle as an onion is caramelized.

"Excuse me?" "Sorry"
I enjoyed that almost as much as I'd have enjoyed that burger. Because of Gastroparesis I haven't been able to eat solid food for years. One of my last meals ended up being on a day when I freed myself by making the life changing decision to end my marriage to a man who had lied, cheated and abused me for years, and because of my poor health, I convinced myself that I deserved to be treated with cruelty and disrespect. I decided I'd honored my vows but I was done with the man who had used the pretext of working on our relationship for a free trip to Vegas, and as I expected, he left to go out with his friend, knowing my multiple chronic illnesses caused me great deal of pain, so I could not stay out long. He was thoughtful enough to spare me that pain by spending the whole night on the town after I had dinner. Sociopath. I took my winnings and had one of the best meals of my life at a pub owned by Gordon Ramsay. I didn't know it was going to to be my literal last supper, but if you have to go, go out on a high note. That was over 13 years ago, and I'm glad I won enough money to have a once in a life time meal, for someone in my income bracket. I love watching Gordon cook, I love his passion for his family and for food. I had a steak the size of the Brontosaurus steak at the beginning of the Flintstone cartoons, and I'm sure there were side dishes. I still remember how heavenly it was. I couldn't stop eating it. By morning (I took most of it back to my hotel) it was gone. Anyway, I just enjoyed this segment, and it made me remember my meal and how good it tasted, and how great it felt to free myself of guilt, and to start freeing myself of shame and humiliation that were never mine too begin with.

It's the stress. I'm kind of the same way at my job. I haven't seen too much of his shows, but it looks like his insults are directed at the chef's work and not directly chef towards the chef at a personal level. Although that doesn't quite justify things, there is a huge difference between criticizing one's work, and outright berating them as a person in an abusive fashion. The former is constructive and encouraging for others to learn from. People can be inspired from criticism with a sense of optimism. People rarely learn anything constructive when subjected to abuse, and when they do succeed, they still feel like they didn't do well enough.

@@yesyes1127 There's definitely a middle ground though - if you only ever get criticism, you eventually start despairing and thinking "well nothing I do is ever good enough no matter how hard I try, so why bother?" Or maybe you just quit completely because it seems you'll never be good enough. Or maybe you just start to hate the person criticising you and it creates a toxic environment of resentment where people are doing petty little things to sabotage each other. If you get a mixture of praise and criticism, you know you're not perfect, but that you can get better if you make more effort in your weak areas. And if you never get any criticism at all, then like you say, it's easy to get complacent and just coast along without improving.
