I had a similar situation when I was buying my house. I already had a realtor, who was an Arab-American guy, and he showed my wife and I a few houses, but we hadn't found anything yet. Then I went on one of the housing websites, and I saw another realtor who was a Black guy, and I was thinking, "Hey, why not give the Brother the commission on the house sale." I regretted it the moment that Black dude called me back. Because he acted like I would be wasting his time to show me the house, he was skeptical on if I had the money to buy, despite the fact that my loan was ALREADY PRE APPROVED. I just told him forget it, and went right back to my Arab American realtor. I felt like a complete ass too.

@@KarenHunterShow Trump's housing lawsuit was about him not renting to low income people of all races not just blacks because low income people have a reputation for being terrible renters. Black liberals like you racialized that incident just like you racialized Trump's Central Park 5 statements when Trump never mentioned the race of the Central Park 5. Lastly there's no proof Trump said he didn't want blacks handling his money. So instead of fake racist claims about Trump, I challenge you to do a show speaking on the confirmed racist history of former segregationist Jim Crow Joe Biden who was mentored by multiple KKK members like Robert Byrd and said he didn't want his kids in a "racial jungle" and called black youth "super predators". But I know you won't speak on Biden's racist history because you want to keep blacks on the Democrat plantation.

I had a similar experience, I was in a Michael Kors store and soon as I walked in a nice Asian man ask me do I need help. He showed me different things and I picked one of the bags he showed me, he was so courteous and kind. I was still shopping for a little while, then I walked up to pay for the bag he helped me pick out. The cashier said who helped you, then she pointed to a black man who she had seen me with just before I walked up to the counter. The guy she was pointing to, just ask me did I need any help and I replied no. I could have said yes to the cashier and gave him a commission on my $250 bag, but I didn’t. Since the guy that helped me was not in our sight, I described him to her and she knew who I was talking about. It would have been wrong of me to give the black guy the commission when he didn’t even help me with anything, but the Asian guy did. So YOU WAS RIGHT KAREN! Do not let ANYONE tell you different. 😊

What about when the VP of Disney is caught on camera saying they aren't hiring White's? Some of the biggest companies in the world are OPENLY saying they don't want white people. Y'all lack morals. And reading comprehension because you can simply Google the definition of racism. An individual that is black can absolutely be racist. There's nothing in the definition excluding blacks. NOTHING.

Okay, but we live on Earth. We are judged by our colors. I think we all just want fairness regardless of color. Ms. Karen was ATTEMPTING to be fair to the Black woman because she knows the historical and current plight of Black ppl, but in doing so, she was unfair to the white woman. That does not make her racist. The fact that she even had to THINK about leveling the economic playing field tells you so much about the SYSTEM of racism she was trying to navigate. Calling HERSELF potentially racist is proof of how much race has ahold of our minds, even though we are at the receiving end. It is like a victim of domestic violence feeling guilty about slapping someone after they just got punched. This racism thing perpetrated against our people freaked up our psyches. Racism is a problem initiated by white racism. It is sad that she even has to feel this type of guilt for something so simple, but so big at the same time.

I've loved listening to your show for awhile now Karen, and as someone who is not black or white I've been called slurs by people of many different races so I'd say that everyone can be racist on a personal level. I have had two hate crimes happen to me in life due to my ethnicity, one by a white MAGA guy and the other by a black man. I've heard the "black people can't be racist because it's about prejudice plus power" arguement. Maybe there is truth to that on the systematic level, but I'd say on an interpersonal level, yes, everyone can be racist. Though I will say, white supremacy is the biggest threat to POC in this country right now, so defeating white supremacists is priority.

I think Karen did the right thing based off of the situation she put herself in, because she already accepted the help from the white sales person. In the future be intentional when shopping. Shop black owned and when you are not shopping black owned go to black sales person so they get the commission. Karen you shouldn’t have had the white lady help you without first searching for a black sales person.

Is a conscious reaction to combat disenfranchisement in a system racist or an act of strategic resistance? Being fair when you're on the bottom may not be sensical...definitely not advantageous. "War is based on deception" ~Sun Tzu '''; Might be why we're losing.

To answer the question, Black people can be racist, but in most instances, it's not racism when it involves Black people. For it to be racist there has to be a belief that one's race is superior to another, and there is the belief that the superior race has the right TO DOMINATE the lesser race. The second and most important part is the maintaining of social, economic, and political power of the DOMINANT group in that society. Can Clarence Thomas, Tim Scott, or Candace Owens be racist? Yes, because they function as proxies to the dominant White Society. So when Latasha Harlins was murdered by a Korean shop owner, the owner was racist by serving the larger White society and MAINTAINING White Supremacy. The reason why most instances are not racist when they involve Black people is because those non-Black people would never be in a situation where Black people are the dominant group. Dr. Hunter was displaying favorable PREJUDICE toward that Black associate because she was not dominating the White associate or had a belief that her Black race should dominate the white associate. Also what dominant society was Dr. Hunter's actions maintaining or supporting? It would be considered racist if she were working at BET and overlooked the White employee for a promotion and gave it to an unqualified Black person.

I am conflicted. I can applaud your honesty but would not necessarily raise your thoughts to an act of racism . The system would couch it in terms of reverse racism to alleviate the need to look at the overall systems that prepuate racism. Perhaps if there was not an underlying system of racism in employment you would not have considered giving the black person the commission. It is complicated especially when we have a history of non melinated people denying being racist while giving a preference to their own

In black majority countries they can. In America and other nations where they are in the minority, black people can only be prejudice. Although often used interchangeably, racism and prejudice have a stark difference as racism pretains to the societal apparatus built around prejudice. If a group has none or limited influence in society, they cannot construct an apparatus around their own prejudice. Therefore, they can not be racist in the technical sense. Any group can harbor feelings of prejudice against other groups, though.

@@KarenHunterShow I just recently found your channel and have been quite impressed with your perspective and analysis on a myriad of issues. Forgive me if I seem combative. It's important that we are specific when we speak of racism because history determines who is correct. The truth is always the strongest argument. Anyone can be bigoted, prejudiced, or hold implicit racial bias. To be a racist is to have the power and framework to weaponize that prejudice through legislation and systems in society to deliberately inflict harm. Racism is fueled by economics and represents the largest transfer of wealth the world has ever seen. ADOS, along with other people of the Diaspora, have earnest grievances against their respective governments and to conflate that with name calling or any of the other examples you suggested is in fact disappointing. I love your show and the intellectual thought that is available here. I apologize if I offended you.

Hey, this is the part I taught my offsprings, give us a try, and if it does not work, try another, and another. We must give more than one try prior to jumping to the other side. Not to say some situations will occur where the person who serves you satisfactory may be the other side. Treat them the same way, as anyone, just don't search them out. As an entrepreneur, I have been dismissed for someone else to get the commission of listing a house for being the wrong color. They said on the phone, they did not want an agent of color. (This was in 1979). Still a strong memory. I never ask for, but will browse until I can approach who I am targeting. Many times they run circles around us in terms of sales, because our own won't shop or deal with us.

I think we need a standardized definition of racism. Racism is the ability to deny an entire group of people something they need or want. You are talking about prejudice, not racism. Racism requires a power component.
