And therein lies a very serious problem: the voting for "MY best interest" trope. We've all been corraled into this voting "mindset." There are 342 million of us in this country, of which approximately 328 million are of voting age. If you strictly vote "what's in it for me?"... that's ALOT of directions the votes go in, and yes, somebody's going to get disappointed. You simply cannot please everyone. Period. Sometimes, depending on the parties' agendas... you have got to vote with your hand UP 🫸🏽 instead of your hand OUT🫴🏽. Instead of voting for what you can GET out of the deal? You may need to vote instead for what you don't want FORCED UPON YOU. There are alot of cultures that make up this already great nation and no one can have it all! But likewise, you should consider political agendas that are more all-encompassing that equally help our nation as a WHOLE, excluding no one. Sometimes, that means not getting EVERYTHING you want, but alot of what you NEED, and OTHERS will get what they need as well. Don't fall for the vile political agendas that seek to divide the electorate and make everyone retreat to their defensive corners. We need to vote based on what's best for our country as a whole. Inside the "whole" will/should be "some" fixes for all of the country's cultures. Vote in the right people that will enforce the laws and support the constitution for ALL OF US.

I work with a young black man who absolutely will not be convinced to vote. He's educated and professional, carries himself with the utmost dignity and respect. He's acutely aware of the nation's problems. He just doesn't believe that voting will make a difference. He's already given up on the ability to right this ship through active democracy. I got into politics when the price of candy went up. This was during the Cuban crisis. I couldn't even vote, but I wanted to know why. I had a real candy addiction at the time. October 1962, penny candy went from a handful for a penny to one piece for a penny. You must have a voice in every aspect of your life, I will never sit around and let someone control my life without my voice being heard. Even if it's just my small voice! With all due respect to the esteemed Mr. Mystal, that "we" is really important. "We" did not always know democracy. "We" know exactly what lack of autonomy feels like, even in my lifetime, even in his. And that makes a difference. One doesn't have to go back very far to tap into that feeling that it all really doesn't matter, whether that's currently true or not.

It seems to me that the main grievances with regard to Black apathy towards Biden is down to three things: 1. What has the Dems done for Black ppl historically (feeling like Black people throw the vote away every election), 2. Feeling like Dems highlight powerlessness with regard to racism or racial hierarchy, 3. Wanting reparations (many just wanting to move the needle), 4. The economy. (The perception that they had more $$ under trump.) and 5. Immigration. (I don't know but it seems like a lot of people feel a competition with immigrants for some reason.) Abortion rights is Dem value but I don't think it's centralized with the Black ppl I've spoken with (specifically the men). I don't they care about the same issues that Dems keep highlighting, and that's why it doesn't seem like they are touched by the cheering for the economy, good job numbers or even outrage over abortion news.

He is absolutely correct. However once we defeat Trump we have got to find alternative ways to push our agenda forward because the Democrats are looking at Latinos as an alternative to the Black vote. The lesser of two evils evils need to end we need proactive leadership that give Black people a return on investment

Ah there we go again. You keep bringing up other groups. First of all black folks have to vote both consistently and in large enough numbers to elect Democrats on all levels (federal, state, local) to have any power or to demand anything.
