As an Arsenal fan I do agree with Souness, this is the level we want to be at but are clearly not yet at. I do feel Arteta is bringing us in the right direction but we have so many young players that mistakes are bountiful... Like Tavares today, great player for the future but showed he is very clearly still learning today. I'm very optimistic of our future under Arteta but also know it's a year or two from really being ready, which I'm willing to wait as there is no true quick fix for us....

I agree with this. I think with young players come someone you can mould into the team across a few years but as you said mistakes will be made along the way. I would like Arsenal's transfer policy to continue, buying great young talent but also like to see them bring some more finished products into the team come January in order to shore up the young player's mistakes and give some guidance. Especially if Laca is leaving; Saka and ESR will need someone to look up to in addition to Auba

We talk about young players been out of their depth but I thought Partey who was to bring leadership to the team in the centre was also run ragged. He's been hit with injuries and still finds it hard to keep up with the pace of the prem. I thought he was the most disappointing. Nothing went through the middle because time and time again it was getting robbed by a Liverpool player.

Lol “We are a young and promising team, when the players hit their peak, we will be up there at the front.” Wins hardly anything, the players are who are at their peak become frustrated and leave or they sell their best players. Next, buys a young & promising player. Repeat the cycle. That’s arsenal for the last 15yrs.

In the City game we tried for about 10 minutes until they scored. And by ‘try’ I mean we managed to get a corner and press Ederson into misplacing a pass. But we tried for the full 90 minutes today but we’re just plain beaten by the better side. If we rolled over and just defended we still would have lost.

I'd be happy with top 6. Don't think we are quite ready just yet

Agree. Sure, Arsenals standards used to be higher and they should be higher in the future but for this season, European football aka the Europa league sounds pretty nice if I'm honest.

They can definitely finish 4th. Today clearly proved they've a long way to go to challenge the top 3. But they're young and finally heading in the right direction.

Liverpool did Arsenal squad, especially the young lads, a solid by showing without any doubt what a well oiled, incisive team plays like. It wasn’t score two and game manage it out. Liverpool went full tilt. 90 mins intensity. That’s a good thing from the perspective of a valuable learning experience. A massive difference in the manner of defeat to the City and Chelsea games, even the major dunking of United by Liverpool. MA now needs to integrate the lessons with the squad. Find ways to continue levelling up.

The only highlight arsenal had in the game was their coach trying to pick up a fight

Said it a month ago United bring in Zidane with Ronaldo there already, he's free to take over as soon as but Watford showed up and got the job done in style, Maguire is not on the level of the likes of Virgil and many central defender's, gets caught out against any forward with Pace. He's training at the club. You can't expect him to see him everyday and say I'd sack arteta for klopp.

I'm a Liverpool fan, there is an Arsenal fan in my local pub. We disagree'd on Arteta all last season, I saw something in him he wanted him gone. You don't manage with Pep for years and not pick up some decent ability, yes he is learning as well as the players, I think in 10 years he'll be one of the best managers around.

I always belived that "how does this result effect the chances of top four" is conceptually wrong.Being in the top 4 in a LEAGUE is not dependent on any isolated win or ant isolated loss. This is not a knockout tournament.

I think Arsenal have a reasonable chance of making the top 4 now. They have done very well to get themselves back where they are. But Moyes and West Ham will be close.

Arteta's tiki taka & Klopp's gegen pressing was seen in that game. For the first half Arsenal did make Liverpool slow. Usually Liverpool bullies a team with their high metal pressing within a few minutes, probably Liverpool gave some respect to tiki taka. But in the second half Liverpool just pressed Arsenal out of positions.

The desire and will to press and play hard has to come from within you!

Of course they can, if Man Utd keep doing what theyre doing. West Ham are just unknown, can they keep this form up for the whole season, their absolute maximum is probably 68 points, which Arsenal may struggle to match, they'll probably be around 62-68 points. Leicester seem like they've fallen off their form for the last 2 years. Can spurs rebound under Conte, most likely be similar to Arsenal in points. It'll be close so of course they CAN but I dont think they WILL. I think they'll be 5th. From an Arsenal fan.
