Can an introvert be a good facilitator? Or is workshop facilitation only reserved for extroverted people? This is one of the questions we get asked the most. And in our experience, we can say confidently that you can be very introverted or very extroverted and still be an excellent workshop facilitator. You just need to understand what your strengths and your weaknesses are.
In this video, AJ&Smart CEO Jonathan Courtney, explains why this is the case and shares with you a practical exercise to learn how to recognise your strengths and weaknesses and leverage them in your workshops.

Thank you so much. Your clip is very helpful. I’m an introvert and I have written my strengths and weaknesses as you told. Surprisingly they were all opposite from yours! Thank you again. Your clips made me feel so relieved and hopeful that I can be a good facilitator, too, on my own style 😊❤

but is it possible for an introvert to love being a facilitator? Isn't it just a more fun job if you are extroverted?

The thought of performing in public makes me want to run into the woods. I did two things: 1. I have analyzed my strengths: focus, planning, creativity, I am a listener, I like people (altough it's complicated for an introvert ;), I like to ask them questions 2. I defined what this public performance can mean -> meeting with people that I probably know and who want to learn from me something I know and we will do something cool together. It doesn't seem that difficult anymore 🥳 Thanks for this video 💪

What, „UX-designer are usually introvert“?!😲 Funny, working as a ux designer and knowing lot of designer, I would say exactly the opposite. But ok, everyone has its own bubble^^

Hey Skox! that is funny. In our experience, most of the ux designers we've worked with over the past ten years tend to be a bit introverted and shy. But you're right, everyone has their own bubble. Have a great day!

So, you can't really focus on what someone else is saying and instead think of what you are going to say next and you have a very short attention span and you're missing details? If you haven't done it, you could have yourself checked for ADHD. Because you're describing me to a T and I've got a diagnosis earlier this year, with 34 years of age.

How did getting the diagnosis help? Because for me i've built my work around being distracted and it doesn't cause too much issues right now.

There are people who get distracted, because it didn't took their interest /or it's boring. Maybe who explains can't take their attention. Also, it's normally to miss detail, you're human, you can't work 100% good.
