False!! He was paying a compliment! Those Nigerians (and others he has met, but maybe wasn't sure where each was from) are industrious. That's how I took it. He was being friendly. If he was being rude, he wouldn't have jabbered on so much and stuck around so long. I think he was surprised with the type of job it was - the sending cars to Africa one, because he hadn't heard of that before. He is from California, which is very diverse, and so is Houston (NASA is there, oil industries, colleges, and some sports teams),.... The only low expectations I'm seeing here are the ones you're projecting onto the white guy.

Warrior-of -the-sea they should! Africa is their ancestral home. An Asian and Caucasian person can name a few countries in their ancestral homeland. As part of the African diaspora it is important to educate yourself about the continent. On the one hand I feel it’s a shame that I used to know very little about the world, but then again, just know the name doesn’t feel necessary to me. Still impressive though 👍 I hope we can all have more experiential learning. I know a tiny tiny bit about Igbo Hausa Yoruba Ga Ewe and Akan just because I made friends from West Africa. Still, it’s embarrassing that Americans don’t know a little more being that we call ourselves a melting pot. Maybe I’ll make some friends from central Africa at some point and learn more 😊 cheers
I’m not surprised the older guy could name more countries. I think school was taught differently for some generations because a lot of young people nowadays have no idea what countries are where & can barely name any. I’m 45 and that’s so odd to me.

If Africa unified then some kids in my school would actually name an African country.
It's actually quite sad, I'm from the UK and we only ever 'learned' about europe and America in high school... and when I say learned, it was basic first school grade stuff. It's been 15 years since I finished school, and in the past few years I've taught myself all the countries in the world.. and quite recently was able to correctly guess all of Africa's countries on Map Quiz Apps. I've been teaching my 10 year old son about the world map and making sure he knows more than what school will teach him lol

@@maxrosato1784 unfortunately not, I'm 30 now and my sons school (which is the same school I was taught in as a child) has a lot more diversity now. But back when I was at school we had 1 chinese family and around 2 Indian families. There wasn't much diversity at all. It wasn't until late in my teens and mainly through the yearly children in need TV programme charity, that I learned about some African countries.. quite unfortunate that the only information I had seen via the news and TV back then lead me to believe that Africa was extremely poor and people were mostly malnourished there. Not realising at the time that a large portion of African countries were rich tourist hotspots, with beautiful islands and Countries that are rapidly growing into large busy cities with skyscrapers and high end apartments. But there is also people coming from everywhere or french islands or territorries (situated in Africa and in south america). We even had a chapter were each kids had to make genealogic tree about their origins in middle school. When I was in elementary school, some kids had their origins from Sprain, Russia, Congo, Guadeloupe, Madagascar, Algeria, Morroco, etc. One of the National tv channel (France O) also make a lot of videos about what going on around the worlds but mainly about what going on in the other french territories, not to forget a big presence of Morroco (like there is each year a thing called "Le Marrakesh du rire" where there is a bunch of known or new stand up talents from francophone africa, islands, Belgium or Québec, doing their jokes (and a bunch of francophone celebrities were invited).
