    This video was spot on accurate even on a 21 defender xmr. Worked out beauty! Really appreciate the way you edited the video showing all steps for getting the clutch apart. The hammer trick works great for separating the two pieces. Great job!

    Excellent video! Just bought a 2016 Can-Am, has no issues but looking at maintenance and repair videos for the future. Great video, to the point and well explained.

    If you are to change just the weights can you do that without removing the clutch similar to a snowmobile?

    Thanks for a great tutorial..my defender has a broken helix roller in the secondary clutch i have found..is this a common thing and is there an upgrade available to avoid a repeat..the machine has done 400hrs in general cattle station work but no heavy tows or loads

    We do sell a Pro Series roller that is a heavy duty replacement for the stock rollers. Depending on the exact year and model of your defender is will use part number WE213226 or WE213227. Rollers take a lot of use and abuse, the next best thing to do is clean and maintain your clutches more often and if your really working your machine you can install a clutch kit for better performance and durability.

    This off the subject of clutches, but do you know what it takes to install a wiper and washer on the Canam Defender? I just purchased one, and it has the Glass windshield that tips out, and I would like to install the Windshield Wiper/Washer.

    Curious what Does a heavier spring do versus the lighter on primary? What will I feel regarding response at low speed?

  • @EPIperformance

    @EPIperformance

    2 жыл бұрын

    There are lot of variables but when you look at spring rates the lower the lb rating the lower the rpms and the higher the lb rating the higher the rpms. As a rough estimate 10 lbs difference equals 100 rpms. Usually a higher engaging spring will have a higher low speed rpms which in most cases makes the motor more responsive. If you get to stiff it will slow down the acceleration, but give you more power. So if your turning big tires or mud it helps you out. If your just riding tar roads you might not want it.

    I just got the WE437425 kit the secondary has two different springs. I am running sti hd9 beedlock wheels and sti x comp tires 28x10R14. Which spring would you recommend. They are alot heavier then stock

  • @EPIperformance

    @EPIperformance

    3 жыл бұрын

    I would start with the Almond spring which is the stiffer spring. Unless you are doing a lot of high speed road riding.

    I have taken the primary clutch off but still can't get the two clutch halves apart, I've beat on the bolt and beat on it. The gov cap assembly and the outer half side up and down but seems like something is catching inside? Any ideas?

    if yours is a 2020 1000 you will need a clutch splitter tool, EPI part number EZCST. If it is a 800 or 2019 and older 1000 then all you can do is use a bigger hammer. We have had a few that are stuck pretty good. Best way I found was to have one person hold the clutch and another give it a good hit. Not the best designed clutch, the bigger hp models now have holes to bolt a tool onto to help them come apart a little easier.

    I have recently put 6" portals (45% Reduction) on my CanAm Defender HD10 Crew with 36" tires. Would a Mudder Clutch kit be a good investment?

  • @EPIperformance

    @EPIperformance

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes. The gear reduction is a good thing for you and will help a lot. The clutch kit will help even more and will wear and tear on your clutches and belt along with better performance.

    Getting ready to install my clutch kit on my 2021 can am maverick trail 800 dps. Do you have to replace the secondary bolt? Some say you do and some say just put blue thread locker when reinstalling?

  • @EPIperformance

    @EPIperformance

    2 жыл бұрын

    You shouldnt have to on that model. As long as you torque it properly you shouldnt have any issues. On the old style maverick with the old style clutches it was more of an issue

  • @matthewhardesty7494

    I broke my secondary clutch bolt. It wouldn't take torque. It's a 65mm long 10mm bolt. I can't seem to find a replacement. Will a grade 12 10mm regular bolt work? Meaning without the skinny part in the middle. Do I need to replace my primary hardware as well?

  • @EPIperformance

    @EPIperformance

    3 жыл бұрын

    i would recommend getting a new bolt from Can Am. If you needed a bolt to get by you could try a normal bolt. Im not sure if the amount of threads on the bolts would be the same. Might want to check that first.

    Hey just put 30" tires on my HD10, is this kit any good and worth it? Did you see a difference at all?

  • @EPIperformance

    @EPIperformance

    5 жыл бұрын

    Yes, use the Mudder kit and you will get a lot more low end and midrange power back that you lost by putting the larger tires on. It will give you faster backshift and throttle response and grip the belt better then stock also. It changes the primary spring, helix and secondary spring.

    Did you use new bolts? Aren't these torque to yield bolts?

  • @EPIperformance

    @EPIperformance

    4 жыл бұрын

    On the Defenders and new Maverick X3 they are not torque to yield bolts like the older Can Ams. As long at you torque it properly you shouldn't have any issues.

    Yes the Defender holding tool is harder to use compared to the older can am models. But still is nice to be able to torque the clutch bolts properly.

    Hello Tony, The 800 and 1000 Maverick Trail use 95% of the same process as this video on the Defenders. So I don't have a video for the Trails yet but this one should help you out a lot. We do also have clutch kits available for the both sizes of the Trails.

    Yes and no. Its the same process to get to the clutches but the 2020 and newer HD10 use different clutches. They use the same style clutches as the Maverick X3 so if you watch our video on those that would should how to work on those clutches.

  • @EPIperformance

    @EPIperformance

    6 жыл бұрын

    We should have a set up once we get a chance to test some with it. The HD5 doesn't use the same clutches as the HD8 and HD10. They are more like the Outlander clutches, but being we haven't had one apart yet its hard to know what will work best for you. Hopefully this spring we will get a chance to test one right away and then we can help more.
