Can AI change the meaning of being human? (w/ Geordie Rose, Sanctuary AI)

Humanoid artificial intelligence is coming and there’s a good chance it may come to life in Vancouver.
That’s because some of the brains at work creating AI - human-like AI - live and work here. The odds that they will succeed are high, they have an amazing track record. One of those brains is the mastermind behind the development of quantum computing that has manifested itself into the company known as D-Wave.
At the core of the development on humanoid AI sits an existential question: what does it mean to be human? What motivates us, how do we decide right from wrong and whose morals constitute the foundation of the programming of the machine that will self-learn? These are just a few of the questions that surround what many believe will be the last great human discovery.
We invited Geordie Rose of Sanctuary AI to join us for a Conversation That Matters about artificial intelligence - why, what, when, where and how soon.

It pains me to see the lack of views on most interviews with Geordie Rose. Lex Luther over here.

thank you geordie rose for making me realize my intelligence by seeking the thing that will benefit me most in the long term. Knowing that I will die like every human dies, I seek the only thing that can benefit me after my death. If life is truly but blink of an eye in the cosmic scale, what value is it to seek the things that benefit me temporarily, knowing that I will die and lose the fruits of my labor? Why does it matter that I spend my life greedily seeking a temporary sense of fulfillment if it does not satisfy me after death? It comes down to whether you believe in God or not, and whether the things you do matter or don't matter. If everyone dies and forgets their entire life, and there is no afterlife, why would I seek anything but my own selfish gain for the short time i'm here? Morality without God is baseless, because everyone who you ever sinned against would forget you did it, and any history of it will be forgotten by the people who died after learning about it. If God truly does not exist and there is no afterlife, why should anyone be concerned about the lives of anyone else? If we're just spacedust destined to return to spacedust, I'd either be completely apathetic about the entire thing, or I would choose to take advantage of the short time in which i'd be able to enjoy being as selfish as I possibly could. All my kindness to others would only be an effort to satisfy me in some way, and if it didn't, there's no foundational reason why I'm obligated to follow anyone's temporary and subjective standard of how I should live my life. Is this a good way of thinking about the world? That nothing we do really matters? I'll let you decide.

13:17 "Everything has been designed....." But you said that we evolved over millions of years. So: Which is it? Interesting that he chooses the example of an octopus but doesn't touch on its ability to change colour in an instant. Sorry but that's impossible to 'evolve into' using Darwin's theory.. And, if you want to be the prime minister of Canada you don't need to start "planning" 20 years before, you just need to be in one of the select families and part of the right crowd..nothing to do with votes. "I don't believe in free will so I'm not sure if we had anything to do with it" Hmmm so who did design our new future? Could it be the demonic entities you're contacting with D-Wave? Notice the big laugh at the end

Rose wants to use quantum computing to communicate with other lifeforms, like Aquaman.

It might not take that long to make A.I. think like we do once we figure out how it workS. The quantum computer is almost at it's most basic level of computing. It has doubled it's computing power each year. Now imagine it a hundred years into the future. It's still at it's infant stage. What Geordie Rose is saying defining what it is to be human or at least process like humans. If we strip it down to its most basic level it shouldn't be hard to duplicate. After we figure that part out it will get smarter and faster with ever model. Sounds like processing language in a basic human instinct using sight and sounds. Then work on reasoning. Learning right from wrong by using mathematical DO's and DONT'S. It's kool idea to this about.

Leave everything u do and just speak on KZread.... We need to listen your thoughts.... After a while you ll become a legend..... Just like the legends you admired ..... Maybe greater.... In my opinion....
