Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
How to replace a camshaft position sensor in Ford Powerstroke 6.0L diesel truck. Wade shows you the camshaft position sensor location, removal, and replacement. Camshaft position sensors play an important role. They tell the computer where the camshaft is spinning so it knows how to fire the injectors and how to fire the ignition system.
Common trouble codes include the following: P0340, P0341, and P2614.

Nice Well Done Mr. Wade! tips: Wrap Electrical Tape Around the Universal Joint on the Socket. (makes it stay in a position yet still fully Flexible) Wad of sticky type like the Green Grease from Lu(@$ (helps make suction\stiction in the socket to the nut or bolt head great for installing them too) Hire Wade to do all your repairs(Very BEST option)
I have a 2006 Ford F-250 with a 6.0. I totally did everything from the bottom. No need to remove air box at all. Good light is essential. Remove 8 mm bolt from bottom . Partially remove sensor an inch or so. Then I used a thin flat blade long screwdriver and gently pushed the wire of the sensor. With that out of the way, I was able to pull the sensor out with no problem. Simple

Thank you. Good info. FWIW I never take the air filter box apart. DieselTech Ron taught me to remove it as a complete assembly. It will clear the rad overflow hose completely assembled and then you don't have to mess with putting it back together. I agree its a bad design but once you stop taking it apart it gets easier.
Thanks for taking the time to do this and put in the details that can easily be overlooked by experienced people that newbies doesn't know. Great video!!!

Hi, nice video, I have a stalling issue on my Amarillo & one solution that fit my symptoms was cleaning the rust buildup where the CPS seats to the block. Have you ever heard of this issue? I live in Ontario Canada where rust is the #1 leading cause of vehicular death (death to the vehicle that is) Thanks for any input!
Changed out my CPS after watching this "how to". Great tips but I have 1 more to add to it. If your removing the CPS with the connector still attached, make sure you have enough slack in the wiring. I unfortunately didn't and the only way I could disconnect it was to put it back in and refasten it, as there's NO Way you can disconnect this with 1 hand and the CPS spinning freely. Other than that, great tips.

What was the truck symptoms that made you change the sensor
remove the radiator hose and degas bottle extra ten minutes but you can see everything clearly and professionally install
Do this cam sensor give up or just need to clean it up with new o rings
Did this today. I'd like to add if you pull out the filter take out the battery so you dont fight the space. Its already disconnected so remove the holder and the positive and it will make life better. However I didn't find installation or removal from above any help. I'm 6 foot 5 and couldn't get to it above short of seeing frayed un covered wires at the connector so I decided to try and run it to the top but the connector hits the hard lines and the thermostat housing and can't be removed so I don't see the reason to remove the air box.
What's the difference between oem & Alliant for cps? Tks Mike
@thoroughbreddiesel

Zero difference between the two.
Pull the whole air filter assy out as one unit, much easier.

Need to read the codes and see what you are up against.
thanks for the video, got the repair done months ago after watching. Old sensor tested bad. But a short while later I started having trouble with stalling. I got sidetracked with other projects and family matters... but I was just thinking about it, and wondered if there are two cam position sensors??? this is a V8 yeah? so that mean it's a dual cam, right? I'm not sure if it could be configured any other way but anticipate it's like a mirror image... the trucks new to me so IDK... UPDATE: there are two!!! The one mentioned in the video and the other is located behind the AC compressor (you may have mentioned that already), .... hopefully that's what's wrong with my truck!!!

Can a faulty camshaft position sensor cause the truck not to start because I had a mechanic just work on my truck. The truck ran perfect the day before. Go out next day to start it. It just cranks and cranks and cranks and won't start send it to the mechanic. He said it was camshaft position sensor get the truck back home. Drive it for a couple weeks now. It's doing the same thing again. Why would this be?
@thoroughbreddiesel
Жыл бұрын
A camshaft position sensor failure can cause a no start, however you would need to check codes and monitor the rpm output with a scanner before you deem the CPS bad.
Could a bad sensor be the cause of stalling? I just test drove a 6.0 and it stalled 4 times during the drive. owner said this is what may be the cause.
@thoroughbreddiesel

Would need to be diagnosed. Could be multiple things.

I believe it would no longer be a "Cummins"? That makes a new species known as a "Fummins"? A rare hybrid animal that looks like a Ford but actually runs. Though they are rare and can be quite hostile, once befriended it takes little time to domesticate. Once domesticated the "Fummins" is a rather stout animal requiring little to no major repairs. When the eventual repair is required the "Fummins" makes it easy rarely requiring Wade size arms or hands nor crazy specialty tools or contorsions!!! Ahhh yes Krikey av a look at that....its a Fummins!! Some say its the best of both worlds well I think its a beautiful (Crash boots in air)
