Hi. In this video I try to offer some help and understanding of the ficm sync. Whats going on and a possible repair that is a whole lot easier and cheaper than a new loom.

I just did this repair on a 2003 F350 6.0 I went through the top of the motor; had to take the driver's side battery out along with inlet air pipes. The job was a royal pain the butt. The bolt and tape trick was a huge help. Most of the insulation/wrapper I had could not reuse had to redo that and trying to snake the wire back down was a pain. The replacement wiring is too long but I figure easier to deal with long wiring then too short. I also wasn't sure how far back I had to go on the wire to replace, so I went as far as I could but not far because you have to re tape all of it. I will say this is the most frustrating problem because some days it would start and other days it would not. I never got stuck but each time it would not start the scanner said no sync. I tested the old wiring for continuity and it had a .4 resistance rating; the new wire was perfect. I really miss DieselTechRon but his legacy lives on. Thank you Ron, you are missed!!

This man saved ALL of us tons of time and money. If you are a Tech and you do this for a living well then face it HE Saved you time and you made money because of that. Donate to his family! They have lost a father, husband and provider. We cant bring him back but we can help the family. Pay that Karma back, pay it forward. Someday your family might need help. You can find the donation tab in DieselTechRons last video.

Great video! I'm a little confused because you started off talking about the crank sensor but ended up replacing the cam sensor. Great tape tip BTW!

I've never seen a bad crank signal yet. sync is alignment of the cam and crank signal. I focused on the cam because that's the main cause. crank is easily verified by rpm

Hello! I had same issue no sync, found both crankshaft sensor wiring tampered and had heat shrink on each one. Wiggled them and that was the issue, I repaired them and everything works well!

Bought scan gauge and everything was right except ficm synch. Wiggled cam sensor wire near fuel filter and she fired! Ordering new egr connector for the cam sensor. Might have jacked it up doing blue spring but didn’t manifest for 2 weeks on cold night.

was there any damage to them two wires going to the cam sensor? I was hoping you would show where the fail was. one other question for you is will the glow plug module fail creating bad signal to one glow plug? replaced all glow plugs and harnesses and still have a code for number 2 glow plug failure check the wire from module to glow plug and it is good. will the module just lose one at a time or do they default them all. thanks Ron you seem very much helpful

I've never been able to see the damage on them. yes the module can lose one glow plug only. I've had two wired wrong. I kept getting glow plug number one. ended up being seven. wire positions were reversed.

I got a 6.0 in the shop and it doesn't sync when to turning over and I have swapped pcm and ficm off another 6.0 the same year. It has 1500 psi through the ipr so it has high pressure during turnover. It has low pressure the tac is reading when I turn it over but it will not start. I have swapped injector harness off another 6.0 and everything it will not start. Can you please give me some advice?

never solder wires, join wires with crimping connector that also has ends with heatshrink ( not use those that has a ring in center with solder )

Its the y pipe. The v clamp is not letting them seat properly. Just a little bit and you have a boost leak. Happend to us because we bent the y pipe just a tiny bit.
