More content needs to be mate on MotW. Most people only know about D&D, and people would definitely benefit from more variety in their games! (Plus modern horror is awesome! I was raised on Supernatural and Buffy, so this is right up my alley.)

I really love your range from mischief up to mayhem in the countdown. It's cool because yhe tone could be lightened further or made heavier by expanding on the Brownie activities at any stage or over a small range. That expansion would also allow flexibility in the timeframe. Perhaps this could be used in an ongoing campaign. Introduce it as a B plot or low priority mission for a paranormal agency character group. Like they put this job off to deal with personal difficulties, or a more obviously dangerous mission, and then the clock lurches forward towards mayhem and the players freak out. Or just persistently give updates to the players with a slow escalation of danger to see when they bite. I really think this could be lots of fun and see it adaptable towards all kinds of game tones. It could be a palate cleanser after a much nastier scenario, or a mainline adventure for a lower intensity game. Thanks for the free fun!

so happy you like it! if you end up running it, i'd love to hear how it went! haha and yeah, i really like the countdown mechanic from Monster of the Week, really helps guide your next step while remaining loose and straightforward enough. I hadn't really considered using it in an ongoing campaign, but I like that idea. I feel that the brownies also have fun potential when it's directed towards the players, so if in an ongoing campaign, i think I'd have them get attached to one PC instead of an NPC, and have them mess with the other characters anytime they inconvenience, even slightly, the person chosen by the brownies. Start slow and weird, until they eventually address it. Could be fun!

Thank you! Hoping to do more adventure walkthroughs in the future, I really like making those haha Although not all will be monster of the week (next one coming is DnD with true crime horror vibes), I’m trying to make them as neutral as possible, so that they could be easily used in other systems. Making it monster of the week or DnD or Call of Cthulhu and all “by default” is really just what helps me decide what kind of layout I’m going for when I make the PDF.

This is such great advice. I feel like I should translate my little homebrew gamesystem, before you grow way out of reach, so that you could actually test it. I feel like your critique would help that system grow so much :D (and again comments for the algorithm)

@@corkboardsandcuriosities The short answer would be something like: Fate meets Pbta. But that really is just the dice mechanics. It's really about creating a framework, that let's your build sessions and characters while already playing them. Also I try to focus on the possibility for violence free stories. I would love to see your game system, but I would love an gamesystem independent adventure book even more :)

Like the adventure. If I were doing this for Call of Cthulhu, I would include personal ties to the victums and make a consistant sign of their passing; the crumbs are a good touch.

oooooh yes for sure! You're not the first to mention this could fit CoC as well, now i'm kinda wondering, I absolutely love CoC and if it seems people here have an interest for it, maybe I could do a few scenarios specifically for that game? I can't promise it's gonna be as "lighthearted" though haha, I'm too fond of horror and this campus mischief mystery is easily the least creepy thing i've written in a while hahah

@@rynowatcher Well you're here! haha meaning there's definitely people out there for it! maybe I can keep them somewhat system neutral. I did make the PDF for this one basing it on Monster of the Week scenarios, but I feel it's easily adaptable. Perhaps only the attached PDF will vary as per the system that I find works best with it, sometimes CoC, sometimes 5e, sometimes MotW... but make the video rather system neutral.

[EDIT] I know I'm a bit late, but if you ran this as a CoC scenario, would you use a Mythos creature for the brownies? Or would they just be standard mythological brownies? If your investigators were used to the standard Lovecraftian fare, vanilla brownies (pun intended) might throw your players for a loop (in a fun, possibly less lethal way) as they try to figure out what foul beast they face. I suspect some would confuse brownies for a variant of (the) Brown Jenkin.

Graham Olson should be reluctant anything supernatural is going on believing it's pranks and hazing by his fellow frat boys that he blames and get's back at, this turns him into the classic annoying NPC protection quest that does not want protection, that can be used to brake the player flow when the players start to wonder outside the sandbox. "maybe it's not brownies but the frat is part of skull and bones and they summoned the ghost of don quixote, yeah that's a good idea let's spend 5 hours on this, hey wait look what's that brownie looking thing pushing olson out the window." Jay Malik should have a blog and be a reporter/journalism major I would love to play this scenario, I would be a emo goth trying to capture a brownie to impress the girl he is obsessed with. trying to capture the magic for love. but along the way he learns to be respectful of the individual rights of the brownies to be free, rather then the brownie be the toy of his often cruel and superficial love interest that would likely forget to feed the brownie. oh wow you killed off graham soon, that would have surprised me! I thought graham was the slapstick comedy relief, I wrote that before I saw the count down section.

Hahahahhahaha yeah I feel that too haha, this is probably one of the most lighthearted games I ever wrote haha, I'm usually more of a horror person, and rewatching this video I was like "oh, that escalated quickly. I thought I was supposed to make this one lighthearted" hahahah I see Jay as a film major for some reason, i don't really know why. I think maybe she's just really into these obscure 80s /70s B movies, and probably is trying to shoot her own ghost hunting show someday.

@Corkboards & Curiosities oh absolutely film major is good for that one. I was only thinking of "why are you asking all these questions" aspect. The vision of the person playing the character should always take priority. but then all my characters meet destructive ends when their seemingly harmless ideologies are carried to their logical extreme conclusion. I find film makers are great for cover ups! "it looks like those two are fighting someone" "yes sir we are shooting a film no need to call 911" "holy cow did blood came out of the other guy's hand and has turned in to a fire ball" "yes sir their called special effects, perhaps you have heard of them." “I would have thought something like that would be CGI” “oh look unsolicited advice on how I should make my film, maybe when you make your movie you can use CGI, we making a film sir” "and now magical shadow tentacles, just hit that guy" "please stay out of our film shot those special effects are vary expensive and we will have to sue you if we have to reshoot the whole scene, please leave sir." "oh well I don't want to be sued." you should make your next video for your channel be a short format youtube still boost shorts, you should play one of your favorite NPCs, when you release the short you should have a live stream about to start people can wait for as youtube boost live streams about to start. the live stream can simply be a session if you have confidence or prescripted one shot session that you pretend is not prescripted if you are not as confident, you can go off script adapting to the chat depending on how confident you are. I am all about the unsolicited advice, remember me if you get the famous.
