I had a u joint issue on my Yukon, mechanic replaced it, a little while later it was bad again and I had a leak so he was going to rebuild it and fix the leak, but he got a different transmission and it never shifted right. I use to do most all of my own work or for a while I had a good mechanic, now days even the dealerships are not worth going to. In the late 1980s I worked at a dealership and learned a lot from some really good techs, now they all seem like they want to use the parts cannon and see if it fixes the issue. Hope Linda's eyes get better, stay safe and healthy.

Rick, check your oil pressure sending unit. It sits just behind the intake manifold. Those 4.8, 5.3, and 6.0 engines are notorious for developing a leak there. The oil will run down and appear to be a pan gasket or rear main seal, I have a 2001 silverado and had to replace mine. It registered ok, yet it leaked, you can check it with a small mirror. I enjoy watching your adventures, Danny in Alabama

Really nice video you guys. Always look forward to your next adventure. Very sorry to hear of the loss of your friends. As we get older (I turned 62 and retired this year), we really value our friendships and it's hard when someone moves on to their next life, but as you mentioned, we will see them again. I used to deliver Wonderbread for 10 years and I had a smaller version of the umbrella hat I would wear when it rained (I live in the PNW and it rains a LOT!). It had an elastic band that went around your head. Big enough to keep my head and shoulders dry. Take care and thanks as always for such great content and good vibes! 🙂

For Jeff not having an annual route/itinerary, he sure seems to head to the Dakotas and then Q, in convoy with David (The Campulance Man) each year lately. Then after a couple or three months of them and their dogs camping near each other, they part ways. I was not shocked to hear you lived on a sailboat when young, but WAS shocked to hear you sailed it PNW to Hawaii and around the South Pacific.... with a baby no less! Back in the days before GPS, satellite phones, and accurate weather forecasts for remote ocean areas, that was pretty daring of you two! No wonder that the worst that road trips can throw at you, is taken in stride like it's nothing. I think you need to tell a scary story or two of the sailing, as well as some of the amazingly good times you must have had. I'm looking forward to meeting you two someday, and I'm hoping we all stay healthy for long enough that we all of the good people on this channel and others, meet many of each other. My own main in-person contact with the nomadic community is via my occasional visits with Box Van Dee in Quartzsite.

This trailer is pretty old and poorly insulated. The furnace isn't nearly enough to warm the whole trailer so I ran an 1800w space heater in the bedroom. By closing the door out to the living room I was good to around 28 degrees. If I rigged a wool blanket to cover the opening to the bathroom I was good to around 10 deg. Below that I had to wear my thermals in the bedroom. I am ok with the limited space and the mad dash into the kitchen to prepare meals. What I didn't expect was that the thermostat for the fridge freezer was in the fridge side. It was so cold in the kitchen the unit never came on so the food in the freezer actually thawed out. So I just put that stuff in a box and left it on the kitchen counter to re frreze😮

What a Nice and Heart-Felt Video. Linda, your words describing how you both feel about the friends you've met along the way, and those whom you have yet to meet in person But have made you feel good about a new friendship via the airwaves. Yes, I feel the Same way about Y'all, something special, because you both are Real, Honest and Caring. I feel very comfortable as if I've known you both for a lifetime. Obviously, I'm looking forward to the time we can meet up in person. (I hope I don't scare you off, I'm so hideous) And thank you for sharing about your Fabulous 50th. anniversary and your family, and your adventures. Really Cool Stuff. In any case, Rick, regardless of how practical that Umbrella Hat may be, No Rick, save your dignity and stick with your Fedora. Fashion Statements only last a short time, in this crazy world. We count on your good judgment. God Bless Always. (Linda, finally I'm sending off that overdue manuscript. You will have it mid-week) Vincenzo here.

i had to have a high pressure fuel pump put in in downtown LA. ain't i lucky. 2800 buckazoids. then when i got back to SC my heater was not working well. i checked the water level and it was low. every week i had to put more in it. then it was every couple of days and then everyday. i took it to a man and he said when they installed the fuel pump they did not tighten the hose clamps. so i was losing water. cause of their mistake. again 330.00 to get fixed. i feel your pain cause i been there done that

Hello, just curious how many miles you have on your tow vehicle and trail? I am still towing with our 2007 Dodge Ram but towing a little more weight an wind resistance than you are but we love the amenities that it has. The lake side is spectacular.

It's been my experience that finding an honest ship or mechanic is nearly impossible. I'm not talking about the price they charge to work on your care. Cars now days are a pain in the ass to fix. I'm talking about putting in parts you don't need because they simply can't figure out what is wrong with your car so they throw parts at it hoping to fix it and it doesn't. They do this so they can charge you for shop time in so they don't take a loss for the time they took trying to diagnose the problem. This has happened to me over and over. I could spend days telling you about how I've been ripped off. And when I was young I did ALL OF my cars repairs including rebuilding engines and transmissions so I know what I'm talking about. I'm sure there are good honest mechanics out there......but I can't find one.

  • @gonagain

Some repair are too hard on us physically so we have to take it to a shop. A good honest mechanic is hard to find when you are used to doing your own repair and maintenance on your vehicles.

  • @chrislincoln489

I had the same thing happen to my car. I don't trust these transmission shops. Same thing with two cars and two different shops. Cheaper to sale the car.
