Camping In Emergency Survival Bivvy Sack

I'm taking a break from stealth camping with a normal camping video this week as I gear up to film a bunch more before I return home. I camped for the night in a S.O.L emergency bivvy link here: (These are just the Canadian links, not sure how to find the US or international links but I will learn how to find that! I don't have an affiliate program yet just sharing the links for some guidance on where to find this stuff!

I also used the folding Coleman camping oven for the meal which can be found here:

Pull Start fire is here:

"I will _also_ have my sleeping bag, here [in case it gets too cold]." See, this is 1 of my fave things when Steve tests gear; he always has a fall-back plan for his own safety. Watching other channels where they're like, "I am going into these woods overnight w. an ice storm forecast & _only_ this mylar sheet in my pack!" is so pointlessly stressful. Steve doesn't endanger himself for the sake of survival machismo, & I really respect that.❤

Also the way Steve "bushcrafts" fires. Just point a propane torch at a pile of wood for a few minutes, that will get it going. I mean I guess that's machismo on the other end of the spectrum from using a fire steel, but at least it illustrates the point of just getting a fire started. Use fire steel, use matches, use a pull start fire, use a lighter, use a propane torch. It doesn't matter.

Exactly. Although I believe he’s speaking to new viewers. Have to remember that a lot of new viewers come from those stealth videos since they do so well and the algorithm kicks that video out all over this platform. It got over a couple million views which is unheard of for a camping/outdoors channel. That sure as heck isn’t just from his loyal subscribers and supporters like us. That’s a ton of new eyes on his channel so he probably feels obliged since people are going to notice the theme and mood is way different than the previous stealth video. But I agree. Balance is so important. These are just as fun. Just a different kind of fun. Less dramatic. Way more chill and personable.

We come here to relax from the comfort of our homes, we come to enjoy your humble down to earth personality-we come to join you in this trip and connection with nature. Doesn’t need to be stealth, doesn’t need to be anything special . Your genuine mix and match adventures are always worth watching to the end. Sadly it often leaves me wanting more , longer videos , more time with my friend Steve lol. Cheers buddy, take care of yourself stay safe and healthy , and don’t worry or try to impress . You are enough just as is , doesn’t have to be a home run idea or whatever every single time no dude. This is your channel, your adventure. Don’t forget that some people can’t go camping , or have no one to go with or whatever reason. This channel is priceless to them. Every single minute of your content is priceless to me and many many others. Cheers from Niagara Falls, Ontario . Please keep them coming and don’t be so hard on yourself bro. You do more than enough and I along with many many others love your content, what ever that content has in store for us we are always left relaxed and in awe . Love you dude! You’d run out of stealth camp ideas and the channel wouldn’t be that interesting if it’s always the same thing. Do what ever floats your boat and what’s possible as well as enjoyable for you. Maybe a bushcrafting series would be something you consider?

My buddy and I were shopping for hiking gear and saw the usual Coghlans display of all the “emergency survival” equipment and got the idea to do a hike with nothing but stuff off the Coghlans rack. The plastic bag “tube tents”, bivy sacks, and the little fuel cube stoves and super cheap mess kits. We encountered another pair of hikers, and one of them looked a bit concerned and asked us if we were ok. He then commented that he had seen homeless people better equipped than us. We had no business where we were with the gear we had. It was fall in northern NH, it was getting cold, and we were nearly 15 miles out on a rather rough trail. But my buddy is a former Marine and I’m a pretty experienced hiker (actually lived in the woods for a month just to see if I could at one point). It definitely wasn’t a comfortable trip. Luckily we followed Steve’s guidelines and brought enough step two. That ground was anything but comfortable.

Hey! I've been binging every video on your channel while drawing for like-- what, the past week? And I have to say, you're one of the most entertaining youtubers I've watched to date. No fancy audio, no complicated intro sequence or heavily edited clips with over-excited loud-talking... Your channel is proof that content doesn't need any fancy, pretty graphics to be good, it's the person that gives it quality. Your content is absolutely wonderful, and it's you who makes it that way. No matter the video topic-- Stealth camping, or just regular old camping-- it's *you* who makes it interesting and engaging. I'm super looking forward to any and all content you make in the future... Cheers !!

Steve, on the right stove, and using a massaged pan, you can even cook a small turkey of 8 to 9 ("lil butterball" or the like) pounds in one of those Coleman folding ovens. I've done 5 or 6 of them over the last few years, both with the oven on a stove and with it sitting over a small charcoal grill, and they turn out fantastic. The key is to use something with a bit more output and staying power than your butane stove...You'll need constant and consistent heat for a couple hours. Keep it out of any wind, or you'll chase temperatures the whole time. Speaking of temperatures, if you go to cooking bigger things, get a reliable extra thermometer, as the ones in the coleman ovens are notoriously inaccurate and generally considered unreliable. If you ever find the older model oven with the aluminum door that opens downward instead of sideways, you can get frozen pizzas barely trimmed at the sides into them too, as the opening of the door is the full width of the oven.

Hey, Steve! I'm a Paratrooper in the US Army, so often times when I'm in the field I find myself making do with very, *very* minimal sleeping equipment, considering I have to jump it in and carry it around. Stealth camping is pretty much the name of the game in my profession. I only recently found your channel and I've basically been binge-watching it ever since to get a different perspective of doing more with less and I've gotta say, I love your style. Even the slightly boring episodes like this are still very valuable to me just for the equipment reviews. Tonight's Step Two for me is a nice glass of the Jameson Stout Edition on the rocks. Keep on keepin' on! Cheers!
