I recently saw a video by KZreadr Lohanthony (of the famed "Calling All the Basic Bitches") that really startled me. The story is developing, but as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I felt the need to speak up on the dangers and harm that his current stance could have on his fans and queer young people. Please share and like this video, comment below some support for those who are struggling with their identity, and subscribe (by clicking the bell button).

As someone who is both Christian and gay and who has been to conversion therapy, it’s a horrible promise Christian therapists often make to young gay people. I would not wish it upon my worst enemy. The amount of emotional trauma it causes and relational difficulties it leads to are unrivaled. It is the number one reason why I am staying in Texas. Someone needs to be there to speak against it.

Katherine Pearson It may even work in some cases, but this doesn’t make it right. And that’s exactly why Alan Chambers and so many other leaders of conversion therapy organisations, close their organisations. Because, and I quote Alan Chambers here, „it caused more harm than it did good things.“ I went through the same shit as you did, and that’s why I‘m staying at my quite conservative church. Because I know change comes from the inside. May God bless you and your ways, don’t you ever forget he loves you the way you are!

Jesus Christ would celebrate you, and I know he would not be happy to see that his followers are harming his other followers with conversion therapy...he preached non-judgment, acceptance, empathy, kindness, humility, charity, etc. We’re taught the same things in Buddhism. The scary thing is that we started our first 🏳️‍🌈 youth program at my church in 1995...meanwhile, Christian churches still have Conversion Therapy in 2020. How does that even make sense? When I tell you my jaw dropped at the title Edit: I feel so incredibly sad to hear this because Anthony is someone that I’ve watched in my teen and preteen years when I was still discovering myself as well. I’ve watched him through all the phases of his life - his sassy, spit fire, fun loving, childish self. His hilarious sit-down vlogs. His more matured, artistic, videography diaries, about who he was as a person ( which were actually very well made.) and all the while, I can’t help but to picture a fully confident voice of the LGBTQ community. So I just ...cannot even fathom this being a thing. 2020, I’m done with the shitty cultural resets.

I think his problems stem from having shitty parents. I remember youtubers talking about how when Anthony was just a kid his parents let him go to Los Angeles, he was going to parties with adult youtubers, and getting into bars/clubs because of his fame/his friends fame. I remember him joking about how his mom was at a hotel while he was out with his adult friends in Los Angeles. Just watch as his “testimony” is promoted by conservative groups as “proof” that sexuality can change. I’m afraid for him because as soon as he realizes that he wants to be in a relationship, those same people will not be there for him. That pressure can be absolute crushing and has led many to suicide. I’m a conversion therapy survivor, so I know firsthand. Nika Summer Vlogs hey! i agree that God doesn’t like it when we sin. but the 6 verses used against homosexuality have been proven to be taken out of the context of the time and also the original translation. for example, the verse about a man laying with another man. in the original translation if you look at the original word it means man laying with boy. this does not go against a loving relationship. God says that love fulfills the law. so how then can a mutual and consensual love be wrong? even steven furtick (elevation church) has said that so many bible passages have been taken out of context about homosexuality. i love jesus with all of my heart. i want to spread his love to everyone. so many lgbt people have been burned by the church and it breaks my heart. If christians stopped treating the lgbtq community so badly, we would have so many more people who love Jesus.

Tyler, thank you so much for making this video. I was raised in a home that is conservative baptist christian. For the past 8 years or so, I have dealt with unsupportive family and feeling shame for being who I am. When I came out as trans, my mom told me that sometimes we think sinful thoughts, but don't have to act on them. This was her telling me that I should just pretend to be a girl for my entire life, if I wanted God to love me or to get into heaven. Lohanthony being celibate and denying his sexuality reminds me very much of my mom's mindset, except he's doing it to himself. My mom acting this was towards me made me feel so ashamed of who I am, and hurt me so much, and when I watched Lohanthony's video it was like I was watching all that pain all over again. It broke my heart, but broke my heart even more to see someone putting out a video about how it's okay to deny who you are, or that that's the right thing to do. It felt like he was giving people a device to use to make others feel the pain I had felt. Thank you for making this video and addressing these things. I'm so glad someone did. If anyone is reading this, please know that you are loved and don't need to change anything about yourself for God or anyone else to love you.

@@s-truth "as God created male and female, not male and female and homosexual." This is interesting, because it reads as if you're saying being homosexual makes you a different sex. Which it doesn't. Anthony is still a male. Even if a cis man is gay, his sex is not homosexual. It is male. Homosexual is not a sex. Also, yes, God created male and female, but sex isn't that binary either. There are people who are intersex, who are born with different parts of both male and female sex organs. You can also embrace who you are and have a life in Christ. I have.

Yes, Marijuana isn't "chemically addictive", but it still an addictive substance. People can 100% be addicted to weed, and even experience withdrawal symptoms similar to opioid withdrawal. Saying that weed addiction isn't real is like saying porn addiction isn't real, shopping addiction isn't real, adrenaline addiction isn't real. Y'all will literally be like "Ya I need weed to have an appetite, and to sleep well at night, and I need it to focus, and when I stop using it I get extreme mood swings and I lose/gain weight and I get insomnia and I get headaches but nahhhhh I'm not addicted lol". It's ridiculous. I have nothing against weed, I've used it myself and I believe it should be completely legalized and decriminalized, but to claim that people can't be addicted to weed is such an incredibly ignorant and harmful sentiment to have.

@RuralGayBoy But MY point is that weed addiction, while being a "psychological" addiction, presents itself in physical symptoms in many of the same ways as chemically addictive substances. You don't get physical withdrawal symptoms from other psychological addictions, but you do with weed. So trying to put weed addiction into just a category with psychological addictions rather than other drug/substance addictions is incredibly harmful, because weed addiction can be just as much of a physical thing as other drugs (even though it technically isn't chemically addictive). Weed almost needs to be put into it's own category, because it's not a chemical addictive like heroin, cocaine, or pills, but it also goes so far past just being a psychological thing. It's incredibly important to acknowledge that weed addiction is a real thing and can seriously impact people's lives. People are trying so hard to make weed be seen as completely harmless and a solution to all of life's problems, and THAT is a problem. It might have great benefits for some people but it's still a drug and needs to be treated and respected as such.
