When you have a vision that goes beyond the popular imagination, people tend to think you’re crazy. Mike Wiegele is no exception. He’s been called crazy his entire life. His pioneering vision and relentless determination have given people lots of reasons to. Despite the doubt and disbelief, he’s never given up on the future he wanted and a future no one else could imagine.
Call Me Crazy tells the story of how a young Austrian, with little more than a dream and a love for skiing, became one of the most influential ski pioneers in Canada and the founder of North America’s preeminent heli-skiing operation.
Mike’s commitment to his vision has enabled ski enthusiasts and die-hard powder-hounds to access some of the most sought after snow in the world. His contributions don’t end there; Wiegele has set the standard for avalanche safety in the industry, influenced groundbreaking changes in ski technology, and continues to inspire future generations of skiers, snowboarders, and guides.
This is a ski movie with a story, that continues to be written.

Was at Wiegele in the year 2000 as a 15 year old kid with a huge appetite for powder! Doug Lundgren was my guide and literally still the best moments of my life with my family and specifically my father who passed away just recently... I will be back someday and it will be amazing! RIP Mike

My first day working there Mike and I started talking and he took me out in the helicopter to ride within a half hour of meeting him. The winter I worked there was the best winter of my life. There is nothing cooler than Mike Weigele's!!!!!

Ever since meeting Mike just briefly, he has been one of the biggest influencers in my life and a huge inspiration. It's phenomenal that he managed to create and grow a small village in literally the middle of nowhere. Whilst designing a beautiful lifestyle one can only ever dream of. I hope MWHS continues to flourish through the years to come.

Fantastic cinematography and a great Canadian ski story. I skied there in the mid-nineties and is still one of the best, most memorable ski days of my life. Thanks for the vision Mike. Truly a legendary ski pioneer.

It's a good thing he did end up in Toronto. If not, a lot of good ol' Prairie ski hills would have probably never existed :) Mike, if you ever see this, Ken from Mark-Valley says hi. (And still straps on the boards every winter)
