California Vermillion Rockfish Catch, Clean and Cook!

Hey everyone, welcome back to another video! With the new rockfish regulations looming I took Mark and Tristan out on my boat to fill their freezers before the new limit started. We had beautiful weather and wide open fishing for easy limits. I then tried a new recipe for the rockfish by baking one whole and it tasted amazing!

Love your vids man, especially the fillet and cooking at the end. You looked legit shocked at how good that whole fish was. I never tried it myself but now you got me stoked on it for my next trip. Anything you’d tweak or do different next time?

Wow! Now I’ve got to try gutting and gilling and scoring like you did! The sharks you mentioned are Gray Smoothound or some call they Sandsharks. We actually keep them cut on base of tail and bleed and gut right away. They are tasty, they get top vote for fish tacos every time we have guest. Aussies call them Gummies, fact is I have a great KZread from them on how to fillet that makes it So easy! Thanks for Awesome Videos, I’ve been subscribed for a while now.

That's right! I always forget their name, I might have to try one next time we get a legal sized one. But ya, the gilling and gutting is definitely a game changer in my opinion!

Checking in from Texas. Going out on the Graylight to the Channel Islands for 2 days in July. Hoping for a white seabass finally. Great video.

What a perfect day. We have not seen enough of those this year. Fishdope has been reporting that some of the butts being caught down in San Diego are coming on a dropper loop with a trap hook. I usually use a carolina rig with a trap hook if I am targeting those sheep. Seems to give me a better chance of catching them.

Random question but how big is your boat & how many gallons is your bait tank if you don’t mind me asking? lol

Lmfao!! See, never question us Asians again 🤣 That’s exactly why we prefer to clean our fish at home to not waste meat. Plus, cooking with the bones in is exactly why you get more flavor and a lot more moist fish VS a filet on its own that tastes dry.

Haha! It all makes sense now, will definitely be eating fish like this a lot more.
