Another fact: The range of the nano tower is greater then the commander explosion. You can reclaim your commander with your nano turret.

I still think wedging in your own twitcher is well worth it in the event you need to make units RIGHT AWAY and stop ecoing for any reason. You can reclaim a T1 con if need be. The twitcher can make the con turrets after all.

If one of their back line and scouted and went air or hit front with their eco it would’ve countered the rush. So, I don’t think calamity needs a nerf. Players just need to react.

Agreed, these hard-core eco builds are allowed to go on because there's not enough emphasis on scouting. Eco provides great flexibility and Drongo is a great eco player, but I am not yet convinced that we need to see Calamity/Ragnarok nerfs, just player tactics refinement

Yeah, I've been finding it strange coming from watching Drongo's pro AoE4 videos where players are constantly scouting each other to BAR 8v8s where no one is paying attention to what the other team is doing at all. And BAR has air scouts and cloaked units that can easily get a quick look at the enemy's backline to catch stuff like swarms of 100 air cons.

I think it would be cool to see some other maps too Drongo. Maybe Ascendancy( a brand new map) or some older but still great maps like Bismuth Valley, Carrot Mountains, 8 Horses, Darkside etc. When it comes to calamity rush I don't think it's op. If one of yours backline is basically just ecoing for such a long time and enemy team don't counter that in any way well...that's on them. For sure it's a great strategy for low to medium level of play but I don't see that would work against high tier players. What is more Calamity Rush is particularly good on this map for many reasons. You have great and pretty safe spot for building it and backline is really safe on ATG. On some other maps it's not so easy to find such a good spot and ecoing for such a long time. Nevertheless You're my favourite BAR educational content creator, I use some of Your build orders with great success.

CMV: Commander self-destruct shouldn't have a reclaim, just like other units. Then bump it back up to 2k metal. There's even a loading screen tip that the PURPOSE for self-destruct is to deny opponents metal from the wreck!

27mins 38sec is the best I've gotten on a Ragnarok. 27:38 for the 1st shot. It was a slow repeated, about 1 shot every 3 seconds, but it worked. That was a sterile test environment, however, not a match. Against a BarBarian AI, I could likely get it roughly as quick, since I use Abductors and EMP bombers to snag heavy enemy units and bring them back to a designated reclaiming area. Once tallied it up and reclaimed over 39,000 metal from one early match.

I think you should add one t2 air factory at like afus 6. You appear to be very slow getting your foundations placed due to pathing. Then you would have all your t2 air cons done by the time you hit 8 afus and build out all your t1 spam faster. Probably could save a minute at the end of the build

  • @dragoken1616
    @dragoken161611 ай бұрын

I was about to ask how you reclaimed those nano's with a field reclaim. Btw as a backliner i usually start making some AFUS for the frontliners after i reach a certain point (like the 8 AFUS's) in order to help them a tad. Never heard complaints about it either. Since its at that point you have enough BP, metal and energy to just start spamming AFUS's down at a "fast" rate

Would be cool to see timing on a mass nuke rush -- just like calamity build but like 5-7 nukes to overwhelm their anti-nuke. Maybe that shaves a few minutes off vs the calamity and once they spam anti-nuke to counter (assuming they live), you switch to calamity

  • @CHRINGCHRING

Drongo, you have a build queue (4th and 5th solar), and in between you support the botlab for a bit, and switch back to the queue. How do you do that?

I’d love to see a video on how you would play without a build order like on a new map, could give us a good insight into your thought process as you develop a build.

Just tried this as Arm again, completely unplanned, got 24:10 Ragnarok completion time, first shot in 24:19, four second firing interval. The Ragnarok is 63k metal, 752k energy, while Calamity is 61k metal, 718k energy, so, fumbling my way along with this on-the-fly, I figure if I played Core and certainly if I really plotted out my build order instead of seat-of-my-pants, I could build the cheaper Calamity in a little under 22 mins on this geo-friendly map.

Would appreciate the math on eating up your T1 solar then rebuilding them vs just throwing down converters. It's obviously faster to get the T2 lab up your way but less resources overall and a non-trivial BP drain. How much faster is it, really?

Play frontline. Making units is one part of thr game but being able to micro them is another. This is why new players shouls focus on frontline first and foremost to know how to micro units and know which units are strong. You wont know as a backliner that tank starts are weak early in the game but get stronger as the game goes on. Same with t2, bots are better early t2 but tanks will win later on. T3 is not the end all be all, you have to suupport them with t2 units, without knowledge on which are strong will make it a waste. As a frontline you have limited resources so being able to manage it well is a skill which backliners dont have. So yees play frontline if youre struggling. It may seem daunting at first but it gets fun as you get good at it. And dont forget to experiment, refining your normal flow is good but build units which you normally dont and you will be suprised.

Yeah it's so you can have repairs only cost a reasonable amount of energy without giving players an overpowered mass fabricator by simultaneously repairing and reclaiming a unit.

  • @sp0_od597

It looks like your bottle neck for building the calamity any faster is metal so the only way I can see the calamity coming up any faster is if you convert a little more of your energy to metal and bank it beforehand. Because of this, what if instead of building the second line of nanos which takes alot of energy to build when you will just reclaim them anyway, you build some energy converters instead and 2-3 aircraft bases (idk what they are called). Your build power will still scale since you would be building construction aircraft which you will need eventually and you get more metal than with your build. I think that this would get you extra metal in the long run since the energy that was put into building the nanos would be converted into metal. Extra metal, also means faster calamity time. But then again, I don't play BAR so I would like to hear your thoughts on this.

As a complete new player in this and thinking, yeah let me learn how to eco by simple following an endgame eco build order guide, its kinda frustrating that you don't mention all. Simple replaying this by following what you say just ended with +5min on a map with me vs nothing. Many small things which huge impact are not mentioned especially early. you can most of the time see them, yeah but you don't really recognize them before replaying it. Dunno if this is on purpose or clear to anyone who played already a lot. But i thought a build order includes all steps.

is this a factory game? so much build order and eco stuff... should be about strategy and BATTLE-tactics.. not just rush tec or spam T1 = win... looks like this game needs alot more work to become a real RTS game and not just a "build the same buildorder everytime and win" type of game...
