Before, Yharim sounded more arrogant. Now, he sounds much more humane. You can see the regret when talking about Azafure ( Brimstone Crag ), his utter disgust at what happened to the Queen Bee, forced to be a vessel for the Plague as the Plaguebringer Goliath, his approval of the friendship between Anahita and Leviathan, and his admiration for nature, talking about Queen Bee, Abyss and Dragonfolly. And I love how surprised he looks seeing Permafrost still alive, like he is truly watching the Player and comments on them as they advance. He is a Godslayer, but still a human. He even advises the player not to end up like him when talking about Polterghast, recognising his mistakes.

Agreed! I like how he sounds like a guy who is full of regret for the deeds he's done but knows that there isn't a way to atone for his sins. It's kind of like he's jsut acceting his fate. Also really liked how the lore pieces hint to a higher being pulling the strings of his conquest and the misfortunes that plagued the story.

I think he does know he will return, but he did bid Yharim farewell. He knows that we will fight him and wielding the primordial power comparable to that of the auric dragons, stand a very good chance of killing him. He's afraid of never seeing him because he'd probably be long dead by the time Yharon is rebirthed again.

It definitely looks like there are plans beyond Yharim, mentioning that DoG was serving a "malevolence far beyond". Yharim is basically orchestrating his demise by guiding and testing some ascendant to pick up the pieces and succeed where he failed.

I'm curious to see how Yharim's future pans out. Will he be slain by our hand? Will he join our side like Calamitas did, or maybe even directly assist us against Xeroc? Whatever is in store for us, I'm looking forward to it. With how Cynosure describes the player, I'm hoping that the Terrarian gets fleshed out a little. Even if they're just a canvas for our own characters, I want to see our imprint on the world aside from our conquest.

I hope they give us a choice on what happens to yharim, he either lives and joins you, or finally rests, they will prob make yharim a useless NPC if they do this or give an alternative way to get the stuff yharim would give

@@karthkalbi1105 I can see Yharim being an NPC that focuses on melee players. Melee is the only class that doesn't have an NPC dedicated to it, so he could fill in the gap by providing some special things for the class.

Thats honestly something I’ve been thinking about. Yharim wants us to grow strong, pick up his pieces and succeed where he failed, but If the Terrarian reflects the player then they may be even worse than the Gods that Yharim has been fighting for so long. A one man engine of destruction, an apathetic, loosely moral and ruthless Slayer who terraforms entire landscapes, pillages whatever he finds and constantly unleashes eldritch horrors to fight, all in service of their single inexplainable ambition of standing atop the food chain of this cruel world, unknowingly in service of our goal of “winning the game” Yharim wants to forge us into his saviours, but he isn’t aware that he’s gambling on creating his worst nightmare

@@TheNazgul909 that's one way of putting it, but I think there's more nuance to it. "An apathetic, loosely moral and ruthless slayer" I wouldn't say that the Terrarian is apathetic, as the NPC dialogue do suggest that he actually socializes with them instead of just using them for trade. His morals are definitely questionable, though most of the beasts and gods we kill are very dangerous or evil in some way. "Who terraforms entire landscapes and pillages whatever he finds" a lot of the terraforming we do is making way for arenas and housing, and eliminating the corruption/crimson/hallow/astral infection. And the stuff we steal has been sitting in decaying buildings or shrines for quite a while, their original owners are likely dead. "All in service of his single unexplainable ambition of sitting at the top of the food chain" That reasoning is entirely down to your own interpretation. You could argue that his goal is to be the protector of Terraria, which in turn requires a lot of strength and eliminating a certain God who kick-started the extinction of an ancient species so he could become powerful.

well... this was... revelatory. Firstly, massive applause to you, LaylaSides, for this video, for playing the entire mod on a high difficulty, editing, recording, this was honestly an amazing video and you deserve way more subs for the quality of this. Secondly, wow, I never thought I'd say this, but I think Yharim just became less evil than *draedon, fricking DRAEDON.* The new lore is really cool, it gives who was previously just "big bad evil guy who's so powerful he's depressed because nothing is a challenge" an actual personality, Yharim has an admiration for nature shown in his respect for the queen bees and aquatic scourge, he had a motive beyond just power and it was to destroy the gods who had shown themselves to be selfish and cruel, he has honour, shown in how he turned his back on Draedon at the sight of the plaguebringers, he asks the player to give the souls of his mechanical soldiers a fight worth dying for, and calamitas more respect than he gave her. Yharim is still very clearly a threat to the world and a man who has committed great atrocities, but now he looks back on it with regret, seeing not a ruined empire or destroyed enemies but a damaged world, a world *he* damaged. As for Xeroc and the many "gods" of Calamity, it's interesting to learn their origins, and honestly? I can kind of see where Yharim's motivations came from. His conquest was undeniably horrible, unforgivably so, the corruption, crimson, dungeon and numerous other ruined parts of the terraria world are direct consequences of his actions, but the Gods were clearly not beings that should've had their power, having stolen it from the dragons who protected the world and, if they're all like Providence, Xeroc and whoever threw Yharim into hell, they were not using it for good deeds. I definitely hope there is a Xeroc boss fight someday so we can complete the goal of Yharim, hopefully without following the path of the Jungle Tyrant.

Imo yharim already had that complexity. He had the same troubled past in the old lore and same motivations for what he did. The changes to his relationship with draedon and his respect nature outlook are kinda ham fisted to me. I still love it and hope they expand on it.

Honestly, all of this could lead up to more content past Yharim (as in, additional absurd boss fights with the remaining gods of the world to finish Yharim's mission), and I really wish it was possible to at least dream about... but all of this has already taken so much time and (re)work that asking for more already feels rather selfish. Let's hope that the mod at least won't be abandoned after the Yharim update.

Holy- Calamity has expanded so much from when I first was introduced to it! I can't wait to see what may come next!

I think Yharon said goodbye to Yharim as he knew his master would not win. He may be able to be reborn but not his master.

Despite all the drama surrounding the calamity mod. The devs never falters to create an experience I will never forget as something completely new and separate from terraria or any other mod. I sincerely hope to see what they have in store for us next as this is simply incredible.

I LOVE how Dreadon seems more like the true villain. Yharim seems disgusted with him but at the same time scared of him and who wouldn’t be? The alien blacksmith works for Yharim but he does things because he wants to and it shows how strong Dreadon can make something he really wants to be successful (The Exo Mechs)

Draedon is also prob more op than supreme clamitas as during the entire fight he only releases the full power of a machine during the final phase and that's not mentioning how strong he himself is with the ability to immediately tp when the player tries to kill him.

Pretty weird to see Yarim in such humane tone. I got used to him as tyranny bringer and now he is just "I was silly and now I'm tired" man

I wasn't expecting such an overhaul of a rewrite. I could've sworn I remember the implication of Dragonfolly being that they were failed clones of Yharon, and that the Yharon we face was in fact a mere clone. This makes everything a lot more grounded imo, Yharim too. I mean, the idea that Yharim simply has an army of clones with godlike power is a bit much. The writers have done a much better job at humanising Yharim imo, and the loss of Yharon is a lot more impactful. My only gripe is the obsession with this "age of dragons" stuff. It seems very Dark Souls and a bit unnecessary. However, minor nitpicks

@@Nadiki Oh Noxus is still in this, definitely. Odds are he'l be a superboss along with Xeroc. In fact, I bet Noxus is that real boss of the Devourer of Gods that was alluded to. And we know for a fact that eldritch abominations and all are still a major thing, the moon lord is just some fragment of a nameless creature that was sealed away on the moon and is not native to the world were in, the astral infection is the result of the death of a cosmic being beyond our comprehension and etc.

I think family is just used as a lyrical device that he doesn't really have anyone to go back to after all the bloodshed is done (save for his dragon), rather than his literal family, (Who are also dead).

Yharim is just a terrarian who played a different version of terraria way before the one we're playing. The way he articulates himself displays his good nature buried deep within the consequences of gaining power and a duty far greater than himself. Some whispers show evidence of compassion and morals despite how he's often portrayed as the villain. It just comes to show that Yharim like most well written villains are good people who simply break by doing shit beyond themselves, harming their sanity and direction in the process.

Man, they really made you feel for Yharim with these changes - he's not a true villain, he's a hero who's lasted long enough to become one. He went on a journey to save the souls of the dragons, the original protectors of Terraria, but in the process the power, the duty, the scale - it bogged him down in mind and heart, turning him from a resplendent warrior into a cruel tyrant. . . Damn. . . I wonder if our characters are doomed to go the same route

Back in the old lore, we were given motivation to kick Yharim's butt as his final words provoking us to seek him for the final battle. I mean... this Yharim has more humanity makes us questioning our reasons again. It would lessen a bit of the pump we have for the Tyrant imo?

Really? I don't think so. When I read Cynosure after all the other entries I feel invigorated, it feels like its more climactic. Before this Yharim was just an edgy jaded man, but now he seems like almost an Asgore like character, a sullen, powerful, terrifying and unrelenting threat who fights because he must. But also, by the time you fight Yharim your mind is already made up, no? You have battled godlike beings, spoken to them and learned of this world and everything points to you HAVING to kill Yharim to get the power to fix this broken world. It feels less cut and dry sure, but I don't think it takes the pump out of the situation at all, just makes it an entire new pump.

If I was looking forward to the Yharim fight before, this update amplified that excitement tenfold. This video does the job of portraying what this update did and said _PERFECTLY_. Oh yeah, sick video, sub earned.

I was discussing this with a friend who absolutely adores the Calamity mod and Yharim pretty much wants a duel out of honor and respect. As soon as Yharon comes back, Yharim will already have been fighting against the Terarrian. At this point, Yharim doesn’t really care if he dies at this point. Much like Supreme Calamitas, Yharim wants this all to end. He wants to atone for his sins and wants to bring back peace to Terarria.

I have literally no idea about any calamity lore I just think it adds cool items

the biggest rewrite i noticed was with plaguebringer, where previously in the queen bee lore item yharim mentioned they can be put to good use, to plaguebringer being yharim disgusted with the concept

If I remember before he was more of a tyrant, but now the tyrant part was from pasts mistakes rather than literally being a tyrant

The only minor issue I have with this update is that the boss themes for yharon and calamitas no longer line up with their lore as well, but that's only really a minor nitpick

Actually, they do. Roar of The Jungle Dragon is a message to Yharim, reminding him that the Terrarian has bested divine and celestial creatures, and that Yharim is very much their next target, being capable of slaying him just as easily most likely. Stained, Brutal Calamity represents Calamitas' view on the Terrarian (Grief), the Terrarian's view on Calamitas (Lament), a third voice (Epiphany), and the conclusion of the battle (Acceptance).

Ah, to witness the updated writings of Yharim himself, it's nice.

You can really tell how greatly inspired the new lore is to the lore of dark souls, not just with dragons and Gods but with the player character aswell. A seemingly random individual that does not seem to bear any importance to the story at all slowly rising to power and eventually slays the very Gods that once ruled over the land, seems awfully similar to the story of the protagonist in the first dark souls

another great video, I love the new update with the changes to the lore items, as well as all the other changes, and I always found lore in calamity to be very interesting

These lore pieces are really interesting. I enjoy how they've seemingly humanised Yharim into something that is, if not sympathetic, then understandable as a character. Prior to this update, he was kind of this nebulous unfeeling creature, who's only real appreciation was that people were capable of causing as much destruction as him. The apparent shunting of that amorality over to Draedon makes sense. He fits the inhumanly pragmatic mold much better than the Tyrant, who we previously supposed to believe was primarily motivated by emotion. Calamitas' hatred of Yharim for the things he had her do is now clearer and easier to sympathise with, as is Yharims regret for making her the way she is. Yharon also now canonically being a pheonix is nice and a long time coming. Not much really changed about the Devourer, he's still as nasty and arrogant as ever, but the addition that his folding in to Yharims army was purely out of desperation does lend more to the humanity of the Tyrant, who ultimately was just a man trying his hardest to play the awful cards he was delt. I would be interested to hear more about the worm, his side of the story, if he even has one. It's become pretty clear that he's more than just a monster that destroys, the fact that he seemingly takes so much pleasure in it makes me wonder why. Also the Slime God now being a pest that keeps coming back to annoy us is funny and I would love to see it get a final more conclusive fight further into hard mode.

The quality in this video is awesome, the sound effects especially are great!

So basically until you kill moon lord, it's greet and meet with the world and lore itself(and cleaning some mess left by Yharim and Co.) After killing ml profaned goddess be like: "damn he's good, gotta get rid of him" and you literally just defend yourself. After that you again making things go as they were intended and then out of spite what Yharim did to all land around you you decide to kill his best friend to make him go out and fight. Also punch calamitas and draedon's big toys, didn't get it, for what exactly. Well Draedon IS a threat but Calamitas? And it's kind of fun that Draedon messed with Yharim's bees and he got mad about it.

Yeah, in the slime god fight you don actually kill the god, just it’s warriors or whatever and the core flees, then fuses with a new vessel that’s queen slime. Works for me ig

I absolutely love the fact that Yharim has a more fleshed out character in game and a very clear MO. It paints him merely as the one that you oppose, not as good or evil. He makes great points when describing the wickedness of all gods, yet has dubious means of carrying out his deeds, and has made many mistakes. His vendetta against gods reminds me of Billy Butcher's vendetta against Supers.

After absorbing myself a lot on the lore, Xeroc,Noxus, and Draedon has been on my top Lore Curiosity of what the actual heck are the origin of em I pretty sure on the wiki doc Yharim (or maybe on the Draedon Log) mention something about Draedon that to him Yharim was just like a business client and never actually see him as Friend or even Ally. Also said that Draedon Never felt any emotion on anything he did (the experiment,creation,encounter all that) and Yharim fears that he sure that If Draedon somehow lose his Temper, it is possible for him to destroy many and turn the world in chaos and even Assimilate (or put everything behind silicons as the lore said) literaly anything he want to his Creation. As for the Gods, Xeroc and Noxus seems like they will absolutely be a Supreme Boss for calamity which i can't wait to see! Really wondering how hard and difficult they will be later in the future.

Noxus is actually not a god. He's beyond, far beyond. He's the force that Yharim saw within the Ceaseless Void.

These new lore drops have completely increased my enjoyment of the lore, it's fantastic

This new lore is actually movie or animation worthy, like holy hell just imagine this shit as a full series

The credits with all the mods and resource packs made me subscribe

God I love terraria calamity lore. I only recently got into the lore and yknow I cant wait to see where the calamity team takes it.

As a person who often plays modded terraria on a steam deck I cant really find a way to map all the keys properly and im forced to leave some game stuff out to play the game functionally. Thanks for letting me be able to see all the new lore!

Assuming yharim wrote these lore items, i think he needs a hug :(

thought the whole lore of king slime was he was once a normal blue slime that got stuck on a solidifier and ever since has been growing larger and stronger... also explains why he drops the solidifier after you defeat him

Calamitas and exo structures were made by Altraxia. You can search for it thought YT The profaned temple is from infernum And the others are generated by the calamity mod

Yharim, weirdly enough, knows us. Personally. From the moment we step foot on Terraria, the Tyrant watches on. What's weirder still is that we know him. After all, we wouldn't have come this far if we weren't seeking a fight with him. We command the power the dragons once did, and what's more, we've done it by our own hands and not by right of an auric soul. Unless, of course, we have an auric soul, but that's entirely speculation. The Terrarian is evidently special. Started with nothing, yet the whole world watches on. Growing to heights unimaginable without the power of the Dragons... Without the power of the dragons. Even the Tyrant Yharim himself knows us. So... Who in the world could we be? Obviously we're tracing Yharim's footsteps, nearly 1 to 1. But we aren't facing down gods, we're facing down the beasts the gods created and left behind. And we aren't commanding an army, we *are* the army. But we do take control of the remnants of civilization and humanity to take the fight to our foes. We start, spending sleepless nights knee-deep in corpses. No man should've been able to do what we do. But we do it. Something very, very special is happening here. I could see a variety of things, but the likeliest is that there's a bloodline here. Yharim's own child, come to defeat him and fix his mistakes on the way. Bring about a new age, an age of humanity. It's the likeliest option in my mind. We're not someone on the level of Statis or Braelor, they're probably long dead. Besides, they aren't going to be starting off with nothing. We're a new person in our own right, not of the age of Yharim's war, yet we're stronger than the heroes of it. The only place we could've come from is Yharim himself.

@@sosig6445 He doesn’t have that power though. He’s just a regular dude, with a dragon that gives him a little superpowers. He’d need help from Draedon, DoG, or Calamitas, but none of them know about us really

I’d argue that our character probably does have an auric soul, because we repeatedly see ourselves respawning, something typically left to dragons

@@justsomeguywithoutamoustac6648 Eh... No. See, the issue with that, is that dragons *don't* respawn. Canonically, neither do we. Resurrecting isn't canon in Calamity at a minimum. Yharon can do it, but only because he's also sorta a phoenix, the bird of fire and rebirth. Also, where did we get an auric soul? The dragons are long gone, and we certainly didn't start with one. We had to *obtain* cynosure through our own might, those with auric souls simply *have* it.

Where the auric soul is explained in wiki? I read the entire lire of bosses and dont find a good explain I have a bad english cuz in from brazil

Summoned and dragons had to fend it off, their king was about to die and xeroc slurped it’s soul, dragons sealed moon lord

yknow its a bit sad, with how calamity is going these days its actually somewhat likely we will never see a fully developed calamity mod with the yharim fight and beyond and such, their team seems to always be getting smaller and smaller, and im pretty sure they are mainly focusing on the resprites and balance changes atm, i do feel like we will get a huge new update once tmod gets ported to 1.4.5 and maybe even one when it gets ported to 1.4.4, i just hope it finishes

Those are boss fight changes from the infernum mod, doing a playthrough of it right now, highly recommend for repeat playthroughs

Yharim became an interesting character, neat

Yharim, The Godslayer, The Golden Tyrant, was just a man who refused the destiny laid before him by the gods. He grew in power, status, and respect, but in the end, the world was damaged by his crusade to avenge the Auric Dragons, and he stays now in the home of the dragons, their Aerie, if you would call it that, observing the world from afar. He lost everything but his power, and just… narrates the story of the world, and the mess he caused, to us. A duel with him would shape the entirety of history, even more than we already have. One must question if Yharim even intends to fight us… Enough of the soapy stuff though, can I just say how much I adore the story they have made here? The way they’ll take it, idk, but we’ll see. We’ll see…

This lore rework made Yharim a product of the war he was in. Resorting to drastic measures to kill the self proclaimed gods.

yooo, i like how they expanded that lore, maybe i should play calamity mod again funny how now Yharim is noticeably less evil than in the old lore; he's not just psychopath, now he (apparently?) wants to kill the old gods for the things they've made

Kind of unrelated, but is that profaned temple and Calamitas arena a part of the new update, or is that a custom build??? The temple in particular looked like a new structure cause of the crystal pillar, but I wasn't sure

The profaned temple is part of Infernum mod and calamitas arena is made by altraxia you can search for it through YT

Fun fact: the last loading screen quote is "disposing of silva's remains"

It's amazing how a mod, that started so small, now has so majestic lore... That's why i always love Calamity. But i have to ask. Which mods are you using? Those AI attacks and effects are not the Calamity ones.

Why is Tyrant Part 1 playing at the end in cynosure, is that in? that was canned like forever ago I still have the original clam music release with it before it went paid access.
