Cal Newport is really one of the best minds of our time. I’ve read all of his books. The trio “so good they can’t ignore you”, “Deep Work”, and “Digital Minimalism” are life changing.

The Roommates channel has over 250K subscribers. This video has only 11K views. And that's typical, Cal's talks don't tend to be popular. They are definitely not for all. But they are far, far more valuable than 99% of the staff one can find on KZread.

The thing you said about love and how the eastern way goes from commitment to love was eye-opening. Thank you for that. Also, nice to always hear Cal's wisdom. I have subscribed to his minimalist attitude to tech, and I can feel the change already.

I am so glad you addressed this “living your passion” topic! I have talked with people about this very same thing. We must learn to like whatever it is we do. Everyone in history did whatever they could to survive. Even people who claim to love their jobs really don’t. Look at all these complaining athletes or Hollywood stars they just complain & quote the cliche “More money more problems”

When you go to a restaurant to enjoy a coffee or food... you don't spend there 5 hours, because other customers need to go there. But social media created a crazy environment that you become lonely and bored there because people don't have time to talk to you as they do in a restaurant, or you never know when they will send some post, so it's like you don't sit in a restaurant and hope that someone will come to heal your loneliness or boredom or inspire you to be a better person...so why we do it on social media... we don't wait on social media for someone to come, but we click on various accounts to heal our boredom, depressions, or to find our goals....but in the same time we expect that someone will look for us and try to contact us but busy productive inspirational people will not look for you because they are not trolling...the social media is made for bored people. Only trolls who are bored will watch what you do. the inspirational people do it once a week because they want to be productive with healthy goals.

Food for thought: I think we are moving into a direction where programs will be made available for us to live in a virtual reality world. Where you would be able to alter your preference to your desired looks, career, and be with the mate of your dreams. (Think: The Matrix) Where everything will look, feel and taste real. People will rush home everyday to escape their everyday lives and struggles just to log on to this virtual system. It will get to the point of addiction for many as more and more people abandon their friends and family just to live in this virtual reality. I know this may sound crazy but someone may be viewing this in the year 3000 and be in awe of such a prediction.

Computer science is the way of how we use social media and dealing with social media addiction. We should use social media as a business that's what it should be.

I had the original Facebook when it first came out. I was in school in Massachusetts when Mark Zuckerberg sent this to the local colleges. Honestly, I hated it then. It helped you connect with your classmates, but once all of these other people had access to it and where able to connect with you, when you wouldn't have wanted to connect with them in the first place. I was like, no. This must go.

Enjoyed this interview. Insighful. You know, I invite more millenials my age, to read the Bible. So many people cite Eastern Philsophy and Socratic arguments based on men and woman who were mortals. The Book of Proverbs discusses ALL of the topics mentioned here. Consider Proverbs 19:20 "Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end." Do humans get wiser as they age, or nah? We get wiser. Meditate on this. In this podcase, you hear counsel, some good, some may be a bit more colorful; but there is some wisdom from people who have a template that is close to what we want. Consider Cal. Married, Beautiful family. Success. No IG shade. No drama. Same with people like Denzel. Why don't these highly successful people use network effects? I want my people, to come back to GOD. LOVE is GOD. GOD is LOVE. He created it, Love is 80 years of marriage that my grandparents had, 40 years of marriage my parents have and soon, what I will have when all is ready. Read the Bible. Jesus Christ will show you wisdom that is eternal. Because the fact is, brothers and sisters, we are not reincarnated. There is a FORCE that has a 100% guarantee. DEATH. So we live LIFE as close to what The LORD wants. This discussion was amazing. I pray one day, you do consider someone who can cite Biblical references as well. Because we did not create ourselves. If we did we could change our hair color or eye color with one action. But we cannot. GOD is the controller. And how thankful we are. Keep up the success. I pray, seek Christ and retain Wisdom that has no grave. The greek have graves. Christ does NOT. Eternal. The ultimate point in life. For we all die. Let ours be in GLORY. And not in damnation. Love you all.
