Cajon Pass [BNSF's Cajon Subdivision]
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Originally released in 2011, this is a look at Cajon Pass not long after the third main line was completed by BNSF. This is big-time railroading pre PTC (Positive Train Control) and PSR (Precision Scheduled Railroading).
We will begin in San Bernardino first thing in the morning and head east over the summit and through the Mojave Desert to Barstow.
A great variety of trains are featured including mixed manifests, auto racks, coal and piggyback trains. We will visit famous locations such as Sullivan’s Curve, the Mormon Rocks, the daylighted tunnels at Alray and much more.
There is plenty of action on BNSF’s new triple track main plus UP trains on the former SP Palmdale Cutoff, making a total of four main lines over Cajon! The high density of trains, noteworthy scenery and numerous photo locations has made this THE destination for railfans from all over the world.

Well Said !! Cuz I did also, hahaha 😅 Hello 👋, from Washington DC...
This footage may be 13 years old but it is timeless. I work out there once a month and was there today, great timing for the release of the video. Thank you
I love all the train videos especially Union Pacific videos. I have a yard here in my state that I don't live too far from

@@dominichetherington2287 nope. Only reason why EMD switch to 4 stroke is cause emissions.
Sweet !! ❤❤ Love the sound 🔊 of the "Turbocharger" on those PRIME-MOVERS
I believe that if you are delivering goods and services you are a real trucker. You may not have the years that some have, you are still a real trucker. Keep on keeping on we love your videos!!❤
Hands down the best videos I fall asleep to them very relaxing informative and the scenery is all inspiring to visit the states
This is so beautiful, I never seen desert trains before.. I occasionally see Bnsf come through Cleveland here, but I know they don't own track in Ohio. Usually behind a Norfolk southern... I get really excited to see them on the lakeshore lines or in Berea occasionally..😊😊
Nice catches! We traveled through Cajon Pass so much growing up! And trains were the great treat!
nice to see a video of the Metrolink f59ph in normal service. their now used for yard switching and as a reserve in case one of the t4 locomotives gets taken out of service.
Another superb video. The time and effort that goes into these productions 👌
Great video and your commentary is spot on - I was last there in July 2022 visiting from Sydney, Aus. LAX is our gateway into the US, so a 3 day stopover is an essential part of each trip to visit family in MI. Looping through Cajon and Tehachipi, there's nowhere better to see big trains in the mountains, will be back again asap. Thanks for the perfect cinematograghy, we can only guess at the investment of time to get those shots.
At 22:26, that reminded me of CP having permission rights, on CN's branchlines, in order to get access onto their branches, in out and around Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. All is torn up and has so much history.
I am planning to hit this location this year.. as well as some other spots in Southern California.

Another great video as always. Thank you for uploading these for us to watch. 😁
For a geology nut and a former C&NW employee this is a full meal deal.
I like that you tell us where it's at.
Thanks!

Wow! Excellent program!
CAJON PASS BABYYY
Two Railroads 4 tracks one mountain pass. This line connects Los Angeles to all the major routes in California and the US. From the junction at San Bernardino to Barstow this line sees everything UP and BNSF has to get the freight from Long Beach and Los Angeles to our nation. Welcome to Cajon Pass BNSF's and UP's legendary route over the San Gabriel Mountains. Every railfan knows Cajon because there is always a train. Famous locations are Keenbrook Junction where the UP line becomes the Colton Sub and heads to Colton itself south of this location the Cajon Sub ends and the San Bernardino Terminal Sub begins, Hill 582, Sullivan's Gulch, Silverwood Junction where the UP line becomes the Mojave Sub and BNSF tracks become the Barstow Sub, see the crossovers at Frost outside of Victorville, and the highlight of the trip BNSF's and UP's major terminal in the Mojave Desert Barstow Yard. Welcome to Cajon Pass!
This is so cool. For me mainly cause it's on train sim world 3 my favorite route I have several other DVDs on this route.
Best in USA maintained. And important road!
Cajon Pass é muito classica, sensacional o vídeos.
I like train videos on KZread 👍
Oh! Santa Fe 4-8-4 Northern 3751 made a trip over Cajon Pass on its way to the Grand Canyon on a excursion trip in either 2011 or 2012.

完美 perfect😀
I want to get to Sullivan's Curve. Not sure where to park and start my hike.
Outstanding video! Very nice the two coal train with old hopper: they still exist unit coal train with old hopper?
You missed commenting on at least 3 things. 1; Swarthout Canyon is the San Andreas Fault; 2: The Pacific Crest Trail crosses under/over the tracks at Mormon Rocks; 3: Cajon summit was seriously considered as a place to use nuclear bombs to blast off some of the climb.
Going down grade do they only use dynamic braking or it is mixed with pneumatic?
Has enyone ever seen a BNSF locomotive that didn't look like it just came out of the paint shop? UP's locomotives are mostly dirty and look like they at least need a wash.
How many running on line only dynamic
What Type Of Horn Is That
After watching a documentary explaining the conflict between freight and passenger trains regarding business, economics, policy and infrastructure, the glamour and beauty of this video's presentation is diminished.
Four main lines ?

Different RXR's UP and BNSF both have 2 lines through the pass.
I didn’t notice a lot of graffiti on those trains.
Those are the San Bernardino Mountains.
I like it but the problem is too many commercials for me.
Not a fan of BNSF, the pumpkin line !
Thanks!
