Caitlin Clark, Temi Fagbenle, Aliyah Boston, Christie Sides - Indiana Fever get FIRST win at LA

Спорт

The Indiana Fever won their first game of the season Friday night in Los Angeles in front of the largest crowd in LA Sparks history: 19,103. Caitlin Clark nearly had a triple-double and she nailed two big deep 3s in the final few minutes - and in front of a Hollywood crowd.
After the win, following their 1-5 start, reporters asked questions to Clark, Temi Fagbenle, Aliyah Boston and head coach Christie Sides at Crypto .com arena during their postgame media availability.

Very important to note that both Clark and Boston said they stay mentally healthy by staying off social media. Every person could benefit from that plan.

Thank god! Caitlin probably had her best game and all some people will say is she sucks, only had 11 points! Then when she puts up 30, it’s “what a ball hog, only shoots threes.” Literally can’t win with people on social media so it’s good to know she and Aliyah just stay away from it

Temi is perfect to play with Caitlin! She runs like the wind down the court and no one seems to be able to catch her. If they do chase her, it’ll open up the court for Caitlin so win win either way. Shes learned EXTREMELY quickly how to anticipate the pass coming at all times, and the effort is there on every single play. Pulls down the passes like a receiver and can finish. Absolutely ideal teammate! Never heard her speak till just now and she also has a lovely personality and I love her comments ❤ TEAM TEMI!!

Agreed!! Tonight she really proved that she's super happy to pass the ball to her teammates; they don't have to be afraid of Caitlin having her hands on the ball a lot, because they're gonna get it back; she's not gonna hog it. Especially when her shots aren't falling as well as she and we all would like, she's gonna focus on those phenomenal dimes, and her teammates are gonna benefit. They'll see that spirit and that generosity. It won't be long before her team trusts her as much as her team in Iowa did.

I think Temi really put her finger on it, people KNOW when they themselves are open, but it’s awesome when the point guard can see it so easily which isn’t always common. And let’s be honest, those bounce passes have been improving game by game and tonight many were phenomenal, the team members need to trust she’ll see them and know the timing. I noticed the Sparks were decidedly not a bounce pass team and the difference was stark for me.

She is a Christian and isn't ashamed to not only say it, but walk the narrow path. That is the highest compliment I can give her. . All of the Fevers lineup scored double digits. The new money and new sellout crowds did not materialize when Boston was drafted. It materialized when Caitlin was drafted. Don't cry for Boston. Her teammates had some great takeaways. So instead of saying "I'm proud of myself for....", I hope she starts saying "I'm proud I did ...., but I'm extremely proud of Boston having a great game tonight" or something like that

If you listened to the Coach portion of this press conference, Sikes stated that when CC comes into the huddle she is asking what play can we run so that I can get the ball to Mitchell (or whomever is hot). She knows who is hot at that moment and she wants to make sure that they get the ball. So her passing skills are a big portion of why those players are touching the ball and ultimately scoring.

@@wealthshare4u I am not saying anything bad about her at all. She and Kate Martin are why I started watching WNBA. I'm just saying that I've seen Caitlin do a few of the press things after games, and that though the questions are usually about her, that she throws in a few more compliments towards her teammates at those times. I've heard her say after every game what she did that game that she's been proud of, but I hope she expands her answer to what she's proud that a specific player or two did during the game. I've heard her say "I'm proud of myself for.....", but I hope she starts saying "You know, I'm really proud of myself for ...... this game, but I'm also thrilled that ...... was swishing threes tonight". Temi is a great addition.Chemisry is important on any team. You need Clark with her perimeter game and passing, you need Boston and her paint scoring, defense, rebounding and screen setting. You need Smith and her scoring and help in the paint on both ends.Temi brings many role playing skills and great for getting out on transition while Boston is more of your half court.Mitchell can heat up on scoring at any point. The key is chemisry. One woman shows are don't win.And these ladies understand. These ladies will be fine. They just played 5 games. And your two top players,Boston and Clark have come from two different programs with two different styles. And they are trying to change a franchise that never recovered from the retirement of Tamika Catchings years ago.Good win tonight. This team will get better.I know it.But chemistry is the key.

Your enthusiasm on how you said you cannot wait to show the players the film and the success they had on the court tonight shows how you want YOUR players to succeed. No doubt! I always said in life or in business. Lord just let me see a win. A small win is fine. Just one to show myself and the team there is light at the end of the tunnel. Gives everybody the hunger, energy and positivity(word?) to go to the next level. I am from Pittsburgh, so we do not have a team, but hopefully, someday! Hopefully, I will travel to see a game someday, but I probably would not find tickets anyway! Best to you all and the league.

I agree. I knew the Indiana Fever would win, because the Los Angeles Sparks haven’t been playing well in my opinion and figured they would be the one team the Fever could beat. Aliyah Boston mentioned couch coaches, and she’s correct. I don’t pretend to be one either; however, based on observation as well, AB is the one key factor, rather if they win or not. It appears she needs to put up big numbers and rebounding. It seemed clearly obvious. These platforms are designed to voice OPINIONS not FACTS. Should they be a little less harsh, ABSOLUTELY. AB turning her social media off was the best thing for her. Some people can go from critical, to criticize, to cruelty. Hopefully, the Fever can maintain that same level of intensity. They play the defending champions next, the Las Vegas Aces. I hear Coach Bluder, former Iowa coach, will be there. Kate Martin is on the Aces team.
