Caitlin Clark Earns Her Spot Among Basketball’s Elite | Angel Reese’s Post-Loss Pity Party | Ep 659

Спорт

Let’s stop with the qualifiers and keep it simple: Caitlin Clark is the best women’s basketball player any of us have ever seen. Caitlin Clark is the most important basketball player since Michael Jordan. Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes can lose to Connecticut on Saturday in the Final Four and that will still be true. Clark can disappear into the WNBA abyss next season and that will still be true. Clark isn’t just the best scorer or shooter the women’s game has ever seen. She’s not simply the most exciting women’s player we’ve ever seen. She doesn’t need an NCAA title to validate her place in history. She’s the greatest of all time, and it’s not really close. Jason lays out his case for Clark’s GOAT status in today’s fire-starter. Following Iowa’s dismantling of LSU, Angel Reese hosted a pity party during the post-game press conference. The “Bayou Barbie” broke down, claiming she’s been the victim of online attacks, death threats, and sexualization. Jason and Shemeka Michelle discuss Reese’s first-world problems. Plus, Dre Baldwin of “Work on Your Game” joins Whitlock to discuss how differently Clark and Angel Reese responded to victory and defeat.

I'm a black father with a daughter & I want my daughter to emulate Caitlin over Angel. Angel has chosen to monetise her sexaulity & thrn complain that people over sexualise her. I'm not having it, Caitlin is a better role model for my daughter.

When Jason said we can’t criticize black people in this country and that lack of criticism is hurting them reminds me of the scene in Remember the Titans where Coach Boone tells Coach Yost who treated the black players with kid gloves compared to the white players, “you’re crippling them, you’re crippling them for life”.

The Clark and Reese comparisons are unfair to Reese. She is not even close. Clark can shoot from anywhere on the floor, facilitate at a high-level, as well as rebound with the best when required. Reese is great on the boards but she’s limited on offense to shots in the paint. Reese is relatively one dimensional, whereas Clark’s game is multifaceted; she can do it all. Speaking of doing it all; Paige Buecker is another one who can do it all. Don’t sleep on UConn with her on the floor.

You say Caiylin is multifaceted but she's not. Scoring and assist go hand and hand. That's only one level. That was my impression of Reese as well. She rarely ventures more than a layup away from the basket, and even down there she has no bread-and-butter moves to the hoop; most of her shots looked more like throws. A number of her rebounds last night, in fact, seemed to come off of her own misses. She would also benefit greatly from a mid-range game as well.

I agree with you that Clark makes her entire team better. When she has been cold, she feeds the ball to teammates to allow them to score. Without Clark, no way the Iowa team is where it is today. We'll probably know that this is true next season after Clark graduates and enters the WNBA and Iowa returns to being an average or above average team. By the way, those early threes set the tone, and those three-points at the start of the third quarter drained any enthusiasm that LSU might have had coming out of the locker room. I thought the whining by LSU at the post-game news conference was embarrassing.

I do feel horrible for Caitlin though, because her prospects upon leaving professional basketball, which is what NCAA basketball is compared to the WNBA, is to go to a league where they will do everything they can to destroy her out of jealousy and pettiness. I'll be honest, she needs to take her ball and go to Europe or she can make legit money and be a superstar. Because there is no way that the players in the WNBA will ever let her be a superstar for the many reasons of she's super talented, she's straight, she's white, and she's Catholic. That's like bringing a cross to a vampire convention, she is the anathema to that entire league, and they are two self-centered and narcissistic to realize that her success in the WNBA would actually lead to them making money, instead of being a garbage tear ESPN 8 league. If it's almost a sport, it's on the ocho

She wants to pretend that she's a victim while ignoring all the times she's inserted herself into the spotlight through social media. It gets old. and crying when you realize you just got smoked by a real player in Caitlin Clark, who, btw, does everything the mature way with media interviews and social media. That's why she's really crying because she can't handle rejection and facts that proved who the better player was. If LSU had won she would have been gloating, happy and all her celebrators would be claiming she's better than Caitlin. These are fake tears that scream I want attention and I'll get it any way I can. Her teammates that buy into her victimhood and support her phoniness are akin to middle school girls that always pet and hug the girl who suffers from mental illness and insecurity. They aren't helping her they are enabling her. She's very immature and after her crass display after winning last year toward Clark, well, let's just say she got it back in spades this time around. And being a victim was her only go to move.

Disagree about the Kobe take. He made Shaq a winner and an mvp. Made Gasol into a winner. He went 5-2 in the finals and went to 3 straight finals without a top 75 teammate. His impact on the game is what you see from 6’10+ greats and he did it at the SG position at the height of 6’6. Kobe is at least top 5 all time and definitely deserves to be mentioned with the other greats that mastered basketball and made other players better

Kobe didn't elevate Shaq🤣🤣🤣 Shaq was MVP of those 3 straight Finals and a regular season MVP. Big shot Bob was already a 2x Champion. The NBA was absolute trash N early 2000's....... Russell, Kareem, Magic and Bird all came N2 the NBA and won Championships immediately. Kobe was shooting air balls to LOSE 1st rd series and got swept multiple times..... Then Kobe took advantage of a rapidly declining Jerry Buss and convinced him to get rid of the band. STONED Master Phil, D Fish, BIG Shot Bob, Shaq---- GONE... Kobe ran them all out and convinced Dr Buss that he could do it on his own😂 then he couldn't even make the Playoffs, lost a series he was leading 3 games to 1 and QUIT N that series. He got smoked AGAIN....... N the 1st rd and N the summer of 2007 was bitching and moaning about being traded. The Kobe fan base CRYED 😢 that he didn't have any talent around him.... well DUH🤦‍♂️ Kobe RAN THEM ALL OFF🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Then after all his bitching about being traded, Jerry West GIFTed the Lakers the most skilled big man ( at the time ) Pau N 2008 and yet once AGAIN.... Kobe QUIT N the 2008 Finals---- as he did vs Dallas when he went out like a CHUMP vs Dalls N 2011---- Kobe the guy who STILL ( Le Bitch is closing N fast ) has MISSED more shots than anyone N NBA history---- he does NOT have a seat at the table of the GREATEST of the GREATS

When Kobe hit his prime, it was clear he wasn't just a robin as he proved it by winning more than Shaq did after the split. Again, before Kobe Shaq won NOTHING. And who cares about the all time missed shots? Everyone in the top 10 most missed shots list is a hall of famer and LeBron is about to be number 1. In the end Kobe as an alpha finished 5-2 in the finals which is a better finals record than most

Thank you Jason. First time listener and I am hooked and subscribed. You made so many great points. I am an old codger at 64, but still remember like it was yesterday my parents telling me to "be careful what you ask for because you might just get it." I think AR is getting a dose of that. AR has a lot of nerve to say she has been sexualized as in the past when she is sexualizing herself in the present. I could not believe that AC was taking up for AR, but then again we know ESPN as a whole has its favorite college teams. So I have to admit I had no idea until I googled it what the alphabet team is. Wished I had googled the times table team instead lol. So that Skip person said "but I'm not going to take anything away from Caitlin," but then made excuses for AR, a player that engaged Caitlin on the court, so in essence he was talking something away from Caitlin.

I’ve also seen all the attempts to diminish Clark, and if I hear “she don’t got a ring” one more time I’m going to lose my mind. That’s just dumb. And for all the excuses for LSU losing, blaming it on Reeses ankle is galling too. But NO ONE has touched in the truth as you have. I could see LSU having the life sucked out of them. I knew they were doomed many minutes from the end because they just weren’t in it. They were gassed and as you point out, they had their heart taken out of it. It’s plain to see. They were playing like they were beaten in the fourth. Yes they kept coming, and yes they made some brilliant plays, but the few mistakes that made the difference were because they weren’t all there. So good to hear someone recognize what Clark does to opponents mentally.
