In her WNBA debut, Taurasi scored 22 points in a 72-66 loss to the Sacramento Monarchs. For the season,Taurasi averaged 17.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. Let's just wait and see how the season turns out for CC.

Totally agree. They’ve realistically have only had about a month’s worth of real practices. That’s not enough time to find that deep chemistry. They will find it. AB and Smith need to learn to work with CC as much as she needs to learn how to work with them. They weren’t ready for several of her passes last night and that caused the turnovers. People need to relax. They will get there. Samuelson, Mitchell and Wheeler were rusty. They need to lead by example. They weren’t as efficient as we expect them to be normally.

THIS IS HER FIRST GAME! And the opponent had prepared a gameplan especially for her like full court coverage to double teaming her, and her team had no play to help her out to make it easier and faster to bring the ball to their court. they just left her alone, she had no outlet passes so yeah she had a lot of turnovers, but if you have a keen eye, not all of them are her fault.

  • @Godsbackhand7

@@rap3208so what you are admitting is that if every team that she plays against knows to just press her hard, they can get some free turnovers and not even have to worry about the rest of her team. They don’t play a ton of games, so watching film will be pretty quick and they will understand how to play her. It is also important to know that the Fever weren’t playing a top team in the wnba. There are a bunch of MUCH better teams who play much better defense. She will get some open shots from time to time, but I don’t expect her to just go off and make a huge difference. Had she balled out this first game, she could just carry the momentum. As of right now, you are likely to start seeing ratings drop quickly.

This isn’t just about CC needing time for an adjustment period as a rookie, she’s also getting the competitor’s best defender every game. Most rookies are not coming into the league under that kind of defensive pressure. She’s being double and triple teamed. Other teams can afford to do this and still beat the Fever by double digits, because there are no other offensive threats on the Fever to help take some of the pressure off of her. She’s in a stagnant offense on a team with a losing record in 2023 who got the 1st pick in the draft 2 years in a row. Some organizational changes are going to need to happen if the team continues to get worse. Change starts from the top to the bottom.
