I had the luck to play football with a once in a life time high school QB in high school. He made our offence better across the board because he gave the receivers the confidence to play at there max level and take chances because of there confidence the ball would be there. When you get a talent of this caliber that is a true team player the true potential of everyone around that person will have a chance to shine. It is a team sport and all true super stars know that. Great video.

I understand your post and I agree. I'm a CC fan but the more I study her the more I realize most people don't really understand her as a player. She definitely comes across as a team player but in reality she is more about herself than anyone else. She loves to fill the stat sheet. If anyone goes back and looks at the games and just watches her you will see a player that has very little interest in playing defense. Instead of guarding her man she floats in the paint and gets rebounds from misses and she is really good at gauging where the ball will bounce. If anyone watches closely you'll actually see her steal rebounds from teammates. She will chase a loose rebound that's headed out of bounds cause if she saves it she gets the rebound. There's no one around. She will not shoot a buzzer beater at the end of the qtr or half from half court. She doesn't want that long low percentage shot hurting her field goal percentage. She will pass instead knowing her teammate cannot get the shot off or stick them with the low percentage shot. Watch end of 3rd qtr vs Aces and you'll see what I mean. She passes to Mitchell and she does not have time to shoot the half court shot. The buzzer sounds and Mitchell looks at her as if to say "why didn't you shoot it?" Pay attention when the shot clock is running down. If she can't get a clean shot she will either let the shot clock expire (team TO not an individual) and act like she didn't know or pass to a teammate and stick them with the hail mary. Good luck finding any tape showing her chuck up a shot as a last resort. This IMO is extremely selfish. Her teammates have caught on to this. Some people may donate to charity cause they need a tax write off and they benefit financially. Others donate cause they wanna help. CC is the former. The stuff above has happened about 20 times this year. She does not swing the ball. She looks to shoot or pass that leads to a shot. If she hits a dead end she will a lot of times dump the ball off like it's a hot potato. You will rarely see her swing the ball cause SHE Wants the assist. She's a playmaker but she likes to do it on her terms. Watch her body language when she is filling the stat sheet. It's always good whether they are winning or losing. Watch her body language when she is having a bad night. It's poor whether they are winning or losing. Like I said I'm a fan but she does some things that are very very odd and there is no other reasonable explanation.

Now you are on to something. The haters, or detractors, always saying she's having a bad game because she's not throwing up 30 ppg like she did at Iowa. I still believe that is mostly because of the way she is guarded, absolute max effort, sellout on help, make the other players beat you. It's only going to get 'worse', the start of the season with the high turnover #s are going away as her teammates are learning how to expect the pass and catch. Now that her teammates are figuring that out, the direct pressure on Clark is going to have to lighten up as her teammates are proving they can't just be left open. Reese better not let that consecutive streak end. By the end of the season, if not after the return from the Olympic break, Clark could very well be putting up her own consecutive double-double streak, of the more impressive assist type.

Slight tangent, but wanted your thoughts on some things that seem overlooked in my eyes in regard to the roty debates. Offensive rebounds are important, but it's really a function of your own team's bad shooting and the other team's inability or lacking fundamentals of boxing out. Reese tops this category, Boston is 2nd. The numbers for the top 5 are; 52,56,59,60,93. 35% more than 2nd place? Honestly, explain that discrepancy. In defensive rebounding, Reese has 130 (8th overall)+, Clark has 122. (19 games to 22 games) Is she really a rebounding monster? Let's compare other rebounding monsters to see if they have this sort of discrepancy. Barkely 66% defensive, Rodman 64%, Shaq 68%, Duncan 74%. Something seems off here. Blocks: Reese 6, Clark 17. WTF?

CC tries to be a complete player who's only going to get better. It's fun to watch CC and the Fever play! She can score, assist, rebound, steal, and block. CC is the first player to amass 50 points and 25 assists in their first three games against one opponent. Sides tries to mold her to play in a traditional WNBA way rather than design plays and a way of playing that suits Catlins' skill. Granted In Fever win against Liberty, the Liberty Could not make shots. And it's difficult to beat any team four times. Having said that's the Fever left a lot of points by missing easlayupsps. The Fever fast pace with player's who can run and catch CC passes and play Defense is what gave them the chance to win. Play up tempo and use players who can run! Use thlineupup that had thems beat the NY Team! Wheeler is an ok player, but she can't be on the court with CC, she's can't play up tempo. Hull should be starting next game or at least play alot She fits with CC running style. Play Mitchell, Boston, Smith, Samuelson, Hull, even Dantas, maybe Fagbenle and CC. See if you can resign Celeste Taylor. The Fever need to play defense and run, run and run if they want to continue to win..

Look I'm a CC fan but I think we are going overboard at this point in time. People act like if she did not get the assists then they would not exist. Same with the rebounds. Other players would be doing the assisting and rebounding. If you look at the team stats from 2023 and 2024 they are almost identical. Can they get better? Sure but to suggest this team is significantly better because CC is on the team is not a fair statement. They got worse defensively that's for sure. Until they can play better team D this team is going nowhere. I'm curious to see what happens to Mitchell after this year. She's a free agent. They really have no other scoring guards outside of CC. CC will get better and the game will slow down for her next year. Right now they're just a more exciting team that is weak defensively and CC is carrying a bulk of the offensive stats that were just shared more by other players last year.

Caitlyn needs to work on being able to pull up going right, moving without the basketball both cutting to the basketball and relocating for three, and her individual defense--give her two full seasons to have her game evolve she will be unstoppable in year 3--she will be my pick for MVP

Yeah, she's shooting up a storm, which was what she was drafted for. Oh, I guess she isn't. Does anybody wonder why, if the Fever want to be a running team, that CC is leaving her perimeter assignment and going into the paint to grab an uncontested rebound--surrounded by her teammates--instead of streaking down the court to get the outlet pass to finish the break? Probably not, but then you'll complain as they get burned from the perimeter and can't get their running game going. She's padding her stats.

She plays a different position genius. Aja is ranked 1st in points per game, 2nd in rebounds, 1st in blocks, 4th in steals, 18th in three-point percentage made. Caitlyn is ranked 17th in points per game, 19th in rebounds, 2nd in assists, 16th in blocks, 15th in steals, and 98th in three-point percentage made. So, what was your insinuation to bring up A’ja? Caitlyn is in the running for ROTY, not MVP (it’s not even close). What are you insinuating?

How many 5 foot layups under the basket do the other 4 miss EVERY DARNED GAME ??? Fever would have 30 or more points on the scoreboard each game if the other 4 could catch a pass and make a layup. Astounding that the other 4 are so "girly girl" on the court that they cannot catch a pass. Heck, CC can't even get them to catch a bounce pass ! And persons point to CC's TO numbers . . . Sheesh

Love AR's fashionista ways -- right down to the eye lashes, part of her personality and well-played brand ... (Older people struggle with the eye lashes thing like older generations tend to do with the younger generaltion's trends -- and in this case also a more diverse generation: ) ... And while Ive been cheering for CC to get ROTY (as long as she continues IMO to deserve it) ... I think AR's come a long way in her playing even since college when she was not the best on her LSU team. The WNBA has brought out the best in AR too .... .... Signed, an Iowa Native/Grad and newbie Fever fan : )

From the Guardian - Clark hasn’t been that good. She is an undeniable star, but don’t tell that to WNBA defenders, who have denied her quite a lot. Her 39.3 shooting percentage is significantly worse than her career average (46.2%) in four record-setting seasons at Iowa. In the four games before Saturday’s sparkling triple-double, Clark shot an ugly 33% from the field and turned the ball over nearly six times a game. That’s been a recurring problem. Clark’s 122 turnovers through Saturday are well ahead of any other player. Perhaps rookie of the year honors should go to a player who doesn’t so frequently give the ball to the other team - or at least one who has more made field goals per game than she has committed turnovers. (For now, Clark does not, averaging 4.9 made shots from the field and 5.5 giveaways.)

SHE STILL ISN'T THERE LIKE I THOUGHT SHE WOULD BE. IF SHE'S THE FIRST FEMALE PLAYER IN 28YRS. TO SCORE A TRIPLE DOUBLE. THAT'S PRETTY PATHETIC. 3 DECADES AND NOT WOMAN IN THE WNBA COULD MANAGE THIS THIS. (AND THIS QUICK). DDDAAAMMM THAT'S REALLY REALLY SAD FOR WOMEN'S BASKETBALL.

@@technowondo In 2023 they lost a lot of close games. 3 games went into OT and you had a rookie in Boston and 2nd year Smith. This year some of their losses have been blowouts. If a team doesn't have a winning record it really doesn't matter if they win 13 or 16 games. There was more balance in the W last year. Fever have most of their wins this year against really really bad teams.

I disagree, she has not been better than people realized. She has struggled offensively and shooting her bread and butter 3 point shot at a terrible rate. She's also just a cone on defense, will she get better possibly as the season goes on or in year 2? Yes she will but as of right now they hype is a little overblown.

Caitlin Clark is a really good play, in 2025, Indiana Fever need too draft Azzi Fudd if she health, then the Fever, or have to star, and a super star, Aliyah Boston, Caitlin Clark to star and Azzi Fudd a super star.
