Some people need to come to grips about this. The pic with the top 20 stats you put up says more than it does on the surface. Collier and Stewart are on the top 2 best teams in the league. They are 'teams' they play together like a team should. No drama on those teams (other than the lynx coach.) Whereas Clark is dealing with targeted defense, a coach that nobody is happy with, teammates that can't catch, miss a disproportionate number of layups, and would be bottom of the league as a team for assists if excluding Clark. Without the struggles of the terrible team play/comp/execution Clarks numbers may very well be close to those that were expected by some.

It has to be said. CC is accounting for more than 50% of Indiana's points. So what single player means more to their team than CC? They haven't made the playoffs since 2015 and if they do, it has to be Caitlyn as MVP. I know A'ja Wilson is having a monster year, but she's on a stacked team with three olympians.

Another way to look at mvp is fantasy points. All year Clark has been top 6 in fantasy points. Measures all production numbers pts, ass,Reb, steals blocks , turnovers . If it measured hockey assists it would be even better for her.

Robin, I ran the numbers so you don't have to... MVP has actually had a player win it despite not making the PLAYOFFS that year. Lauren Jackson lead the league in PER rating by about 5 points more than the next best player. The record was 18-16; missed the playoffs. Every other winner has been either 1 or 2 on the list (and all others have actually made the playoffs) in terms of PER. The odd ones out were ranked: 9 - Tina Charles for the number 1 seeded team. 5 - Catchings for a top 3 team. 4 - Lisa Leslie for the top ranked team/ number 1 seed. 3 - Wilson and Leslie for a top ranked team in those respective years. The rest of the players have been NUMBER 1 or 2 in PER rankings. Parker was #2 in PER and a 20 win team that year when she won as a rookie. Caitlin Clark is currently not in the top 20 of PER for the year, and is not even number one on her own team in that stat. She also isn't with a winning record either. Wilson has a high of 35+ PER. Collier is likely to win the MVP if the standings remain roughly the same way for the year and Collier + Wilson finish around the same positions in stat lines. It doesn't seem likely that Caitlin Clark will win MVP unless she ranks top 5 in PER stat.

If you take the word "valuable" literally, then Clark is hands down the all-time most valuable player in the NBA. To borrow from comic book scaling, scoring and rebounding stats are nice, but while players before her were all working on the "street level" stats, she's working on "cosmic level" stats, like ratings, revenue, attendance and viewership. By those metrics alone, she's the most valuable, putting and bringing monetary value to the league and other teams. The thing is, her street level stats are also nothing to laugh at, as she's posting some amazing all-around stats. Regardless of this, I'm prepared for the "now talk about her turnovers" as the sole rebuttle to the argument.

It would be so stupid and nonsensical if CC rookie of the year award gets even put in question..she has set so many records for a rookie that it would just make sense for her to win the award not discussion…Angel Reese is good rebounding, that’s all, which by the way she does off her own missed layups okay..hope media, and the league can see this detail because it’s as noticeable as a living cow in a movie theater . Can’t score from under the basket unless she tries two or three times per basket she makes at 6.3 , that is ridiculous..CC it’s top 20 on all categories on the stats board..runs the game, when allowed by her coach 🤪. Creates, scores, assists, rebounds, blocks, steals, sets records almost every game, under the most pressure and expectations a rookie have ever faced before, and with the most intense, individual defensive schemes that a rookie has ever have to overcome, said by Rebecca lob o , sue bird, and other commentators. when you think that there were, Diana T, Sue bird, Aja, C. Parker, B. Stewart, Sabrina I..and so many others before her, and you see that out of all of them, CC is the one that has the best numbers as a rookie and the one setting all time records for the league, I mean is pretty clear to me who is the best rookie of the year unless something rare happens from now on. She is putting numbers as best rookie ever, so she has to be the best this year alone..And wait..she is going to get a month of training and personal improvement, when the league resumes after the Olympics I am positive she will be even better.

This is 100% engagement farming. Just because people on a website are placing bets for her to win MVP doesn’t mean that at this point she is a legitimate MVP contender. That makes no sense. For example, a lot of people are placing bets for Coach Prime and Colorado to win the National Championship in college football. That doesn’t make them actual championship contenders. To conflate the two is very disingenuous. CC’s having a good season so far, but she is not a legitimate contender for MVP yet…
