HERE ARE THE FACTS. Rookies have been on the Olympic team before : REBECCA LOBO IN 1996, DIANA TAURASI IN 2004, CANDACE PARKER IN 2008 AND BREANNA STEWART IN 2016. Here is the average list of their first 12 games rookie year (in fairness to Clark who played 12 games so far). YEAR HEIGHT FG% 3P% FT% TRB AST STL BLK PTS REBECCA LOBO 1997 6'4 0,33 0,21 0,68 8,17 1,92 1,08 1,67 11,83 DIANA TAURASI 2004 6'0 0,45 0,42 0,81 3,42 3,83 1,25 0,75 18,25 CANDACE PARKER 2008 6'4 0,47 0,38 0,74 9,58 4,08 1,58 2,25 16,75 BREANNA STEWART 2016 6'4 0,42 0,19 0,84 9,75 2,92 1,08 2,08 16,33 CAITLIN CLARK 2024 6'0 0,36 0,32 0,90 5,33 6,33 1,50 0,92 16,83 As you can see Caitlin Clark is a better free throw shooter, highest in assist, 2nd in PTS, 2nd in STL, 3rd in 3P%, and a better rebounder and shotblocker than Taurasi at the same height. A way better than Rebecca Lobo (who had 0 game in WNBA during the 1996 Olympic) in all categories except TRB.

How is that considered privileged. Quit weaponizing this reverse privilege concept. It’s so untrue. This is all a sports thing this is a basketball thing. QUIT trying to switch this to a race or women’s thing. Natalie keeps this in a petty place. The eye rolling constantly is so indicative of why this is just a toxic situation. Quit acting like Caitlin is just a regular player. She is the All time leading scorer in all of college. Natalie you need to read the room. Your focus is totally on the minor picture.

So far this season, every game Clark plays averages about 17K in attendance. Every game in the WNBA Clark is NOT playing averages about 7K in attendance. There is nothing new about naming rookies to Team USA. Tarusi, Parker and Stewart were all named to the Olympic team in their first year. None of them have the impact AT ANY TIME during their successful careers that Clark has in her first 12 games. The WNBA should have demanded that Clark was on the roster, to continue to bring light to a league that is on need of it. It is a STUPID, STUPID, STUPID decision to leave Clark off the Olympic team. Just continues to show that the WNBA is NOT ready for Prime Time.

Man from day 1 these women were called butch, lesbo league every negative word in the book. I use to say from back then the only reason people are saying that is because it’s majority black. Then even black people started agreeing. I didn’t hear about Miller and Swoops and Leslie wasn’t good. It was they wasn’t feminine looking enough. No support from any side. That was an insult right there. The star power and play declined a bit but the talent pool got some what overall better because of the popularity of basketball as a whole. High school and the collegiate level improved. Now they have CC and she fits the profile that the white audience can get behind . Yes she is talented and can play this game. But is it really star power or support?! The WNBA and NBA wrong for not showing support for straight players and Family play from the start. If it’s all inclusive market it equally. Maybe that wouldn’t have turned away a lot of core traditional American values and attract more viewers. I’m just calling it straight down the middle.

They keep going "DEY DUN LIKE ANGEL REESE" without realizing it's because she's all hip hoppy, gelling her hair down, with giant cumbrella eyelashes, speaking ebonics and kneeling for the anthem. Her values do not attract normal people to her. Such behavior only attracts the poor, ghetto people who do not contribute to the league or society...and college aged white girls trying too hard to be 'supportive of lgbt women of color' lmao. If we want to attract the real bulk of sports fans, it's not going to be by pandering to the hypersensitive gay and black crowd.

These women they keep having on these shows seem filled with anger and hate. I was at the Mystics vs. the Fever game n DC last Friday night, I paid $200.00 to see a winless team play a 2 win team in the regular season game, and I along with over 20,000 others watched her and her magnetism is what was advertised. All these little girls there from DC but with her Caitlin Clark jersey, she had a great game with 30 points and lots of assists and rebounds, but it went beyond the game. After she signed some autographs, but many people did not even leave until she left, a solo player and then there was applause as she left. People just don't get it esp. women’s basketball leaving her off that roster just cost the USA million of viewers. I won't be watching that team this summer. I'm more of a track fan, esp. long-distance running, but I was definitely going to watch BBall. This is opposite the Isiah Thomas debacle when he was left off. No one cared because of his poor sportsmanship in that Bulls defeat, and everyone wanted to see Jordan and the rest of the dream team. Thomas did have the resume to be on that team of course, but no cared at the time. Is Caitlin Clark as a rookie one of the best 12 players, maybe, but Caitlin does have international experience and by the Olympics she will have grown as a player, she is making great strides every game. She is a competitor and people around the world want to see her. But unlike the Dream Team with Isiah Thomas being left off, this will cost the USA not in victory since they have been dominant, but it will cost in other intangible ways like viewership which turns into dollars and popularity and growth. But also remember the Dream Team had Christian Laettner, so this team could have had Caitlin Clark. I don't know how much I was bought into the hype before last night. But OMG, to experience it firsthand, she made me feel like a teenage girl groupie at a rock concert. It's hard to explain, but she is "That Girl", and I am not a person easily impressed by other humans regardless of their status. For this game last Friday, the Washington Mystics usually draw about 5,000 people per game and they usually play at a smaller arena, last Friday over 20,000 people game and many from the DC area but cheering for the Fever. That game outdrew in capacity both games of the NBA Dallas vs. Boston. Tell when that has happened before, a WNBA game with a greater attendance than an NBA Final Game???????

What these three people are failing to understand is that team USA is 99.9% guaranteed to win to gold with or without Caitlin Clark. But if the goal is bring more attention to their game and league, you do what's best for business. No one was talking about the WNBA until she came along and now they're getting a good deal of attention. What brining in a marketable player means will bring back is more attention to their game and league from other countries. It also meant more jersey sales for team USA, which bring in more money for their program. And from a ratings standpoint, this lady claims other countries are already watching, but what she should be worried about is the ratings for the women's basketball games aired in NBC, because that's the more important metric to follow in the US. If I was an NBC exec, I'd be livid in what they just said because this could potentially mean lower viewership for the women's games and therefore less ad revenue for the network. Caitlin Clark being selected is not an exception when there have been rookies selected in previous teams, some who are still play in this roster. So they can't possibly make that excuse that she would be an exception. From one of the other comments here who posted those rookie stats from the other players who made the team previously, it's evident that her stats are comparable. I love how they tried throwing DEI back into everyone's faces as if there is no sense of irony in that statement. 🤡🤡🤡

The 'problematic discourse' is really from Natalie, Jemele and others. It's about the Left's bitterness, anger and resentment. Everyone knows why they don't like her - race, politics and culture. Just like the Jokic debate over MVP, or Nick Bosa's comment on QB Hurts, or the rage towards Taylor Swift over the Kelce coverage at NFL games. It's just pure jealousy and racial spite (and it's transparent too). And since when have the DEI crowd cared about meritocracy and deservingness (that is the exact opposite of their 'equality of outcomes' leftist dogma). It makes great business sense to add her to the squad.

Natalie is killing her own argument without even realizing. She admitted that there were other girls who were snubbed off this team which therefore is also admitting that team USA didn't even pick the best 12 players to be on this team so since the best 12 players aren't even on this team it makes even less sense that Caitlin couldn't get a spot. Most ppl who support CC not being on this team are saying that she's not one of the 12 best players so she doesn't deserve to be there but the current roster isn't even the best 12 players anyway so that argument is null and void. THIS WAS JUST SMART BUSINESS and women's basketball messed it up.
