Cairn Adventure Subscription Box Dec 2016 from Cairn Outdoor

This is an unboxing and look at each item in the Cairn Adventure Box from December 2016. Cairn Outdoor does monthly, quarterly, and annual subscription boxes of outdoor gear. They also do individual holliday boxes that are different than their monthly boxes. The December 2016 box contains a 20L Stuff Sack called a "Segsac" (which I really love) from Gobi Gear, a FixnZip zipper repair kit that might be one of the best "save your bacon" sort of items I have ever seen, the GoBites Duo fork and spoon set from human gear which is an incredibly innovative design, and some Karmakandy trail mix from Play Hard Gibe Back which comes in a trail ready, trail-durable zip bag (I'm thoroughly impressed with the packaging).
You can check out Cairn Outdoor and their subscription box service here www.getcairn.com/

I didn't know of this subscription box either. Thanks for the video! We have and love the go-bites sets. Have them in all our kits.

That GoBites set is already washed and has found a home in my lunch box. I'm really pleased with the durable material those are made out of.

That is some cool items but I have to say that the stuff sack is the top item. How cool! I want one!

I like that one a lot. That's one of the brightest ideas I've seen in any new gear in quite a while. I remain a little skeptical of the 20 liter size claim. It's pretty big, but it doesn't seem like it is twice as big as my 10 liter aquaquest mariner bag. .. In any case, I was just talking to myself (and my camera... and eventually to you in my next video) about my need for some new stuff sacks, so it was a bit of serendipity to find that in the Cairn box.

Not to sure about that bag actually being 20.L i have a 10.L dry bag and it's way bigger then that bag, not keep in mind i don't know how wide that particular bag is. Also Have you heard about BattlBox , if not check it out if you have check them out and see if you like as a sub box.

I don't think it's 20L. It might not even be quite 10. If I would have known what was in the box before I opened it for this video, I might have shown my Aqua Quest Mariner 10L next to it.

A cairn was a grave marker or a grave itself, not a trail marker. Historically speaking anyway.

Actually it was any man made pile of rocks created for significance. Sometimes it was for a memorial of an event or battle, Other times, it was for burial (as you said), but often it was used as a marker for a trail. That was historically. Many cultures had their own take in it and some were very elaborate. Nowadays, they are most often used as trail markers. I have to admit that my first thought was of a grave marker when I first saw the box (too many books) but really it was used for many things. cairn kern/ noun 1. a mound of rough stones built as a memorial or landmark, typically on a hilltop or skyline. 2. a small terrier of a breed with short legs, a longish body, and a shaggy coat.

I used to think that too... probably from reading literature that talked about great battles and the graves of heroes and villains in Roman times or Greek mythology (even though it's a Scottish word and probably as old as the Barbarians). About 20 years ago, environmentalists started getting mad at people for making trail markers out of stacked stones and everyone was using the word "cairn" to describe them. I guess I just accepted the dual meaning without giving it any extra thought.
