These birds are playing. They are Caiques. The wrestle like this. This is what is unique about Caiques. For this reason, Caiques generally don’t get along with other birds because the other birds don’t know how to hop and wrestle like Caiques. Take a look at when the two Caiques has locked beaks and shaking their necks. That is a bonding act. These two are buddies. It’s doesn’t mean that buddies won’t have a disagreement once in a like like people. But they make up because they need each other’s company. You have beautiful birds.

@@gabbygabby6910 when you see your bird is about to poop, take it to where you want it to poop on its own (like it's cage) and say poop (or go potty or whatever you want the command to be). If your bird poops after a few seconds, reward him with a treat they love (my lovebird loves millet for instance. Just 1 or 2 bites is enough). You can also take your bird to go poop every 15-20 minutes, as lovebirds tend to poop in those intervals (cockatiels should be similar). Again, just see if he needs to go, say the command and reward if something happens. If you want to learn more about training your birds, check out the channel birdtricks. They are amazing!

I have a caique and senegal they share a big flight room and are buddies since they met, but it can change in time. Thats why i am careful since these 2 species can be very aggressive towards other birds and even to their own species.

For everybody here who says these birds are fighting - they're not. I have two Black Headed Caiques (males) and I see similar behaviour multiple times every day. This is how Caiques play. From my own experience I can see here from the behaviour and the noises they are making these are bonded birds who trust eachother. Believe me, if they were fighting for real there would be a lot more noise and a lot more blood.

Biggest misconception about these birds is they fight with each other. They don't fight, they play unlike most other birds. You play with them like you would a dog :) They are like flying dogs. Play fighting is how they play. Not to say they aren't known for actually fighting, but only if raised as a loner. They are known to brutally kill mates you get them if raised alone and they were given a mate too late in life.

The smaller one is letting the orange headed have his way because he doesnt want to fight so he trys to get out of the way of the other. I dont like the vibe the smaller one should have to be in a cage with the Bully, sortd like torture

wingsonmyback1 owner said they each have their own cage. They flew in another bird's cage (that bird was not home) & started playing, then flew out & onto the blinds. They have free roam in the house, plenty of opportunities to get away from each other, & not cage mates.

its not that they're bad for beginners, i just got a black headed caique a few months ago as my first bird and things are going awesome. its not that theyre bad for beginners, its just that beginners may not be aware of (or ready for) the level of attention that these little birds need. they need attentive owners and lots of playtime outside the cage. luckily for me i take mine to work :) they can be a bit feisty, so they need someone with a stern hand as they can be a bit stubborn and beaky.

Get a big cage(about 4 by 3 by 3 ), and make sure you buy a little teepee, because they love to sleep in those.(I have two) also, they love to chew on balsa wood. It's not really about the cage, its about the toys you will fill it with, and they don't have to be expensive either. We used half a coconut for a toy and he plays witht that more than the 40 dollar chew toy we bought him.

How is it that in this day and age people don't recognize the difference between play fighting/roughhousing/wrestling and actually fighting? Like, if they were fighting there would be no question about it. You would see genuine aggression, ripping and tearing, loud screaming and thrashing about. It's just like when boys get into play fights and rassle and roughhouse on the floor or in the yard. They might punch one another, they might even kick but at the end of it all they'll be laughing and go have a drink together. Play fights are essential for getting your energy out, having fun and strengthening social bonds.

Hi, can I ask how big the cage is? As it looks quite compact (not that I am saying it's too small, but just asking as I want to buy the minimum required size for the beginning) and do you keep both caiques together in that cage? I want to buy a pair of caiques next year and gathering information. Thanks

I hope you didn't buy that small of a cage. That is WAY too small. That's not even big enough for a finch or budgie.

you can try a parrotlet. they are the same size as parakeets, but as smart as a full sized parrot. they are pretty good talkers, and can be trained, but have alot of attitude. if you look them up, some people describe them as "saucy"

These two are different species. Would it be better to get a couple for each one and, they are not playing , they are fighting.

They are playing, caiques play rough. They love to wrestle and roll around, which is quite rare for parrots so I don't blame you for being confused.
