Just did this to my 2015 Escalade. LOVE IT!! Definitely adds more aggressive growl when on the gas, but remains quiet at cruising. Almost makes it sound like a new exhaust as well. Great video, I used the same one as you did.

I forgot you were in kmh, I was like damn that thing moves . No doubt they do get up n go but clearly not doing 100 mph in 3rd gear. Just bought one of these n you twisted my arm into getting cold air. 👌

Thanks, getting rid of the factory sound baffling we’ve noticed better throttle response, small improvement in mpg and more grunt!

I just installed this in my 2016 escalde and the car will start then die. Engine will not stay running. I can't figure out what the issue is. Customer service is closed until Monday.

You reuse the existing MAF. I have not had to buy a replacement.

can i use SHINE ARMOR Ceramic Coating, spray if i dont have a ceramic coating on my escalade

Similar. But they are mated with different transmissions so your shift points would vary

I like the sound better, but it is subjective. You may not like it. My wife likes it and want an intake on her next SUV too.

I have a question. I just installed the K&N blackhawk cold air intake in my 2019 Escalade and I’m loving it so far. One thing I realized after I installed it is that they sent me the incorrect air filter. They sent me a red universal filter and it should have come with a black filter. I contacted the company and they already shipped out the correct filter. My question is do I need to disconnect the negative battery cable for 2 hours to swap out the filter or can I just swap it straight up?

If they are similar size, you are probably okay to leave the battery connected. But if you want to be 100% sure, disconnection of the battery is the best way

@@Donslife the red universal filter height is 5 inches, top outside diameter is 5 inches. The blackhawk filter height is 7.5 inches and top outside diameter is 5.25 inches. Everything else is identical.

@@Donslife I’m thinking the intake kit was misboxed. Part number on the box is for the blackhawk. The air filter is incorrect and I’m missing the silver/chrome badge/plaque on the intake tube. My intake tube is solid black with nothing on it. But I do agree to disconnect the negative cable just to be safe either way

The Blackhawk is actually a slightly more restrictive filter media. I would keep the red one and oil it every 100,000 miles.

Will do next spring. Around here they cover the roads in gravel when the snow hits. Too cold here to melt the snow with road salt. -40°F/-40°C several days each winter ❄️. Windshields and bumpers take a beating.

All you need now is Cam, headers and exhaust

Thanks for a great video!! I have a 2016 ESV and been trying to figure out how to get better milage and get a quicker response and seems that maybe doing this upgrade is a good place to start. We tow a 7,000lb travel trailer and milage is horrible. Trying to find a company that has a tuner for the 8-speed transmission but all I find are 6-speed transmission tuners. Would you happen to know of a company that does the tune for the 8-speed?

Hi there! I can say the Escalade sees a little bit better mileage, not a dramatic amount though. Throttle response and a more aggressive tone, for sure. I am sorry I am not aware of a company that would offer the tune you are looking for. To be honest I haven’t really looked either

@@Donslife thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. I looked on the K&N site and they show 2 different ones. The 63-3082 and then the 71-3082 Blackhawk that's $100 more but it says in the specs it's only 8.3hp gain compared to the 10.68 from the regular one that's 100 bucks cheaper, so I'm wondering besides the aluminum intake pipe, what is the real benefit on spending an extra $100 bucks other than just for looks. I also saw the AEF Momentum series and it starts at $479 and it's supposedly quieter since it's an enclosed system but idk how it's compare to the K&N version.

That’s a great question! I have done them all myself. My material costs have always been between $700-$1000 . A rough guess for labour if a shop did it would be at least $2000-$4000. So a range of $3000-$5000 for a full size SUV.

Hi Tyler! That is the stock exhaust. The intake gives it a throatier sound now with better throttle response.

The flickering? If that’s what you’re referring to, it is just the frame rate of the camera footage being out of sync with the backlit buttons.

Would k&n 77-3082kp work as well as yours? I have a 2019 esclade and live in California

Hey Shaun! If you take your time, I am sure you’ll be fine. The only delicate part is the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF). You don’t want to accidentally drop that. I will be installing a completely different intake on my new 6.2L Sierra AT4 soon. If not subscribing, you may want to, so you don’t miss it. In my experience is that it will under heavy acceleration even if the the exhaust upgrade is tame. However the intake completes the package and aids the exhaust upgrade

I do! Sealed units should be a bit quieter to and give very similar performance. At the time I had limited options and liked the performance of my K&N Intake from my Denali.

Heat soak can be a concern with some intakes, but there is quite a bit of airflow in the area it is installed

Yes hotter air is less dense than colder air so less oxygen would be present for ignition. It comes down to how hot would it need to be for fuel efficiency to suffer. I don’t have data to provide an exact conclusion. Where I live in Canada where the air freezing or at least cool for 9 months of the year so I haven’t had a negative experience with ours.

Throttle response has noticeably improved and it seems to stay in 4 cylinder mode a tiny bit more when cruising slow. However I don’t think there has been a measurable improvement in mileage. At least nothing I have tracked.

More grunt and intake noise always make it ‘feel’ faster. The intake on its own doesn’t make a noticeable change to overall speed, just improves throttle response.

Check engine didn’t come on?

No sir! Disconnect the battery first before installing and the computer will figure the mixture ratios once it runs with the new intake.

No, not typically. Unless the modification or upgrade can be proven as the reason for causing another warranty covered part to fail. I believe in the US there is legislation to protect the consumer. I haven’t checked Canada where I live, but have never had a dealership deny warranty and I do intakes and exhausts all the time.

Did you swing by a mechanic to do an idle air relearn?

Perform the following relearn procedure for the on-board computer to adjust to the new idle position on the electronic throttle body. 1. Start and run the engine in PARK for 3 minutes. 2. Turn the engine OFF for a minimum of 60 seconds. 3. Start the engine and run for another 3 minutes. 4. Engine should idle normally after 3 minutes. After having performed the relearn procedure and the engine still does not run within normal idle speed, it will be necessary to drive the vehicle above 45 mph (70 Km/h) including several decelerations. Also ensure that after driving the vehicle, let the engine idle for a minimum of 5 minutes. If the engine has returned to normal idle speed, the relearn procedure is completed.

@@Donslife i did on my old Suburban and figured, it was just waste of my money and time. Now i have 2016 platinum ESV and will not do the same mistake ;) Maybe, ill buy K&N filter replacement just because you don't have to change your filter anymore, just wash it... But totally not for gaining any power ;) Reprogram ECU would make more sense... BTW, save your money for trany flush ;) new Mobile 1 ATF is necessity... Also, bigger brakes are good investment too... its on my to-do list ..

The sound is far more aggressive, especially between 1/4 and full throttle. As the truck grabs gears it tones down. This truck was bought new as well

It was financed but we got a fair deal since it was one of the last in inventory on the lot at the time while they changed over to 2017. Probably around 70k USD. Hard to say since I am in Canada and the exchange rate in 2016 was different than today
