Cadillac Escalade...100k Miles Later

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Cadillac Escalade 100k Miles Later review. This particular model is a 2011 Cadillac Escalade premium so this is a fully loaded Cadillac Escalade. Being a proper truck based SUV, the Cadillac Escalade as well as the Chevy Tahoe are vehicles commonly used by the wealthy or by officials as they have proven to be dependable and safe.

This is the type of owner review I expected. I know the Tahoe and Yukon usually go 200k plus easy, but I still hear some mixed reviews on the escalade reliability so I wasn't sure. But the engine are all similar so I never understood why they say escalade long term reliability is spotty. I'm looking to purchase one as a next vehicle.

I will always own a Escalade. I've had many cars from Corvettes, Hellcats, Trucks, Lexus, BMW. The Escalade is my ultimate favorite of all of them. I currently have a 2018 Escalade ESV I've had for 4 years now and no issues at all. In a couple years I'll upgrade to the new generation.

If all goes according to plan I may be coming home with a black 2011 Escalade tomorrow. Absolutely gorgeous vehicle, and I’m in love with the particular era of body style. My last car was a beautiful fully loaded 2013 XTS I inherited when my best friend died and fell head over heels in love with Cadillac. Before the XTS I drove a 305 V8 ‘91 Firebird Formula so imagine that change in comfort level 😂😂. If I’ve got any say in it I’ll drive a Cadillac until I die. Really hoping this one works out tomorrow. Great review, thanks. Got me pumped!!

I just looked at a 13' ESV Premium just earlier today. Cheapest one in the country I can find $15.5k with 170k. Beautiful truck but unfortunately too much rust for me. I'm very familiar with GM rust as I have a northern 03' EXT (250k) but this one was worse than mine. The other Escalades, Lux & Platinum ESVs, Tahoe LTZ, Avalanche. and Yukon XL Denali (all 07-14 gen) looked brand new underneath in comparison and obviously well maintained and it really sucked because the Premium was Blk/Blk with the rare LED headlights!

I’ve owned a 2005 Tahoe Z71, a 2009 Jeep SRT8 bought brand new 103 miles on it, a 2010 Avalanche LT (second fav.) a 2007 Dodge Nitro R/T 4.0, a 2010 Ford F250 Lariat, and now this Escalade in the past 10 years. And by far the Escalade is the most comfortable and enjoyable, easy to drive vehicle. I’ll never buy another Chrysler, Jeep, or Dodge. The interior is garbage on all Chrysler family cars. I’m pretty much sticking with GM from here on out. Just my 2 cents. ✌🏼

Man great comment on the safety. I had a 2009 Premium Escalade and an Audi A4 Premium ran a red light crossing my path at 45 mph. We were able to hit hood to hood as I swerved hard left to avoid and spun off each other. The Audi had NO air bags go off despite the Escalade taking the entire hood/engine almost clean off the car and hitting rear as we spun off as well. The Escalade had 7 airbags go off just for me (both side - side curtains and driver). Escalade didn't look bad at all after as well.

@@Ncntrl they actually get good mileage all things considering. A 3-ton SUV riding on a half-ton (1500 series) truck frame is a lot of weight. The bigger displacement (6.2 vs the previous 6.0) along with the 6 speed trans (6L80E vs the 4L65E) is a huge improvement and makes them better than the Infinity QX.

I drive one, love it! Maintenance cost is high but once you get everything fixed nothing compare. The seats are lot more comfortable than the latest Slades. The dealership gave me a 2019 to drive for a week while my 2011 was getting new shocks, etc. Not sure why or how but the new seats are not as comfortable as my 2011. Not sure why they tried to make the seats more sporty and reduced foam.?? The wood trim is lot richer than people think and I’ve brand new merecedes. Mine has 105k miles. I can’t replace her because can’t find any car/truck this comfortable on long rides for the back. I call her the Beast! Also, Cadillac dealership loaner cars are brand new Cadillacs and plenty! My experience with Porsche and Mercedes dealerships, never have enough cars. Gives you cheap rentals. Don’t get me wrong, I like my Porsche but dealership service is no where near Cadillac’s!

Exhaust Sports Auto mine was expensive. Under warranty the whole navigation system failed replaced, driver side mirror replaced, both front seat cooling fans and few other things. But after warranty 2 batteries, rubber molding on doors,-too much air noise on hwy (expensive)., water leaking from the sunroof, sunroof frame was bent (expensive), left headlight assembly (expensive), etc. and now after 100k, spent about $4k to Change all 4 shocks, radiator service, various fluids, etc. did the big service because dealership gave 10% off which came to $400. I think all together over the years warranty paid for $8k and I paid around $12K. Cost of owning a Slade 😁. Unless, you lease, I was tired of paying lease payments, I used to lease all my cars. Of course tire replacement. My car is maintained by dealership on time and every time. Very well maintained. I still recommend this car for the comfortable ride and power. Drives like a lot smaller car. Hope this helps.

I can agree with all that. I've got an 08, coming up on 120k, and I bought it at 20k, corporate lease return in 2010 for $30,000. In the 100k that I've put on it, GM warranted the brakes in front at 45k, rotors warped, and I replaced the pads at 80k, and rotors and pads at 100k, and.......that's it. I cut the trans service in half (instead of 100k fluid change, 50k, oil change in the engine at 3000 miles, way more than recommended, but clean oil isn't hurting anything.). At 120k, steering is getting a bit loose, definitely not new any more, and the shocks need replacing now too. Since they're electronic, they're going to cost a bit, but I'm researching things, maybe I can take them apart and rebuild them or something. Anyway, I'd buy another, and I'd hop on it right now without even checking the oil and drive across the country.

Anyhow, I'm about to drop the suspension out of the front and being a Cadillac GM product, parts are cheap (the front rotors were $105 ea.), and since the parts are inexpensive, I'll change everything out. Oh, I believe it needs motor mounts, too. They're pretty soft.

As both a 2008 & 2015 Escalade owner, I can assure you that the taillights on this 2011 review are aftermarket swap outs, not factory in any way. These huge linear LED taillights did not come out until 2015 with the new/current body style update. I wish this truck had the original factory taillights (or that the reviewer knew the difference & chose one with the factory setup) as that is the only way this truck is a fair representation of a 2011 previous gen Sclade.

LX cars will always have a more tasteful interior I think not the big chunky plastic wood that this has. I think the LX will be a bit more solid inside as well but I wouldn't be surprised if it costs double what this does with similar miles they have insane resale but up to you if an LX is worth 1000s over this Escalade becomes a nice value proposition with decent prestige

Note that this particular vehicle has had the brake lights replaced with the incredibly tall aftermarket units. They're 42" top to bottom and they make an '07 model look like the '15. In fact, they're taller than the '15 by several inches. I'm kind of puzzled by these black seats when the interior trim is the light cashmere. I don't think GM ever offered that. It's either all cashmere or all black.

I live in the midwest so i had to replace the oil cooler lines, power steering lines and next replacing the trans lines because of their location the salt eats them up and car wash water doesn't get in there to clean them. the brake and fuel lines are fine. at 140k I've replaced both front shocks because they locked up. the power steering pump rusts pretty bad (I'm guessing not coated from factory). other than the usual consumables everything else is completely factory. its my favorite vehicle I've ever owned

  • @mSantsnj

    @mSantsnj

    3 жыл бұрын

That’s ironically every car I’m looking at right now. Well, a 460 has a lot more electronics, I doubt they malfunction much though outside of air suspension on the ones that have that. Equus seems amazing, has plenty of electronics but I hear they’re all good. You definitely get the most for your money. The Escalade is the safest, still a bargain, has the least amount of electronics, wastes the most gas. Idk if you can afford the gas I would get it. Get the 1 with the captains chairs in the back though haha. Equus or Escalade for me because Equus is a massive bargain. If you want a truck, go for the Escalade. If you want a car maybe the Equus? Can’t go wrong with any of the 3!

I know this is old, but the Equus is the least reliable by far with its GDI engine and air suspension issues. The escalades pre 2010 are more reliable than newer ones in general because of the lack of electronics and they didn't get AFM until the 2010 model. The 460 is almost completely bullet proof, the air suspension will fail eventually, usually around 100-150k miles, but other than that nothing is known to have many issues.

The 07+ with the 6.2 is even easier since it doesn't have that big ass mechanical fan in the way. It's basically a Silverado/Sierra pickup with fancier body parts and interior.
