Another great video. My Cadac Carri Chef 2 is my fourth version. I use this in my caravan and the previous version is on my deck at home. I sold the first two on. Nothing at all wrong with them I just love the new features Cadac introduce. The CCC2 is definitely the best yet. A couple of tips, have a look at the quick release connectors you can get to fit your Cadac. Cadac does the connector that screws onto the gas valve but you can get the QR connectors online. I've bought four or five for the variuous outdoor gas BBQs I have. They can also be used to increase the length of the hose by joining hoses together with the QR connectors. Same principle as the gas BBQ outlets on caravans. Saves having to screw the gas connector onto your Cadac every time you put it together. Wooden or plastic tools only when using the chef pan. The non-stick surface is so easy to clean with kitchen roll but very easily scratched. I bought a large paella pan online which half the price of the cadac one. However, I don't know if the Cadac pan has a diffuser on its base because I have had to buy a circular heat diffuser which fits the pan support to prevent food burning.

Andy, top tip if you were not already aware as i noticed when you were using the the lid as a windshield. The two plastic tabs on the left and right leg which I originally thought were for hanging utensils are designed to hold the lid in place on the legs and then the metal tab on the lid holds the lid to BBQ side. It stops it from blowing around in the wind 💨

Great informative video Andrew. A good friend of mine purchased from Aldi a Pizza 🍕 Stone @ just £5.99 only, which fits these perfectly, I'm keeping a watchful lookout should these come back into stock. I purchased my Cadac 8 years ago and it's still as non stick cost, £95.00 only from riversway leasure..The price has " sky rocketed " since, because there is nothing else like it...Yet..! I do find them on the heavy side, especially with all the extra plates which aren't needed with a caravan, use the Oven! I would prefer if the feet were slide adjustable in length as the ground is never flat.

Hi James, great tip on the stone! Glad to hear it has stood the test of time and still performing well. Yes, if you have lots of accessories it can get a bit heavy. Kate loves a roast dinner on a Sunday so if we're away for an extended period having the roasting pan means the oven is free for lots of roasted veg! I never did perfect the roasted veg on the cadac. Adjustable feet would be a big bonus. As always, thanks for watching. Andy

But they are a fantastic piece of kit highly recommend buying one!

Hi Michelle, thanks for getting in touch. The BBQ is very sturdy and is still going strong for us, 3 years down the line. It’s ok in the wind but like any gas bbq it is susceptible to being blown out. There are two grey plastic clips on the legs, these are to hold the lid in place, you could use the lid as a wind shield. Does that help?

Hi Andy good video good idea to use separate gas bottle as u can keep cadac away from van as some van have gas points on side of van and u lend up putting cadac close to van and awning as pipe is not long enough we heard fron another caravanner that 2 days before I got there a caravaner lost is van through a cadac been to close to awning caught fire and they lost there van and everything with it so having separate bottle is good it safer so good video Andy all the best .kev

Hi Mike, thanks for watching and commenting. When it comes to Pizza, you should try out these amzn.to/2Hhd11V - they stop the base burning and are cheap as anything. Rest the Stone holder onto the Pot Stand, heat on a high heat to 250 degrees. Turn off the gas, throw on the Pizza mesh and Pizza, put lid back on. Leave for 10-15 minutes, put on low heat if necessary to bring temp back up. Let us know how you get on. Andy

It takes time for sure, you'll find your way. This vid almost killed me on the editing side, it's been manipulated within an inch of it's life and having just watched back for the first time since rendered I know I can do better. However, I've learnt a Tonne of stuff in the process, I'm still learning each video and still discovering the best way to use my equipment. Don't be afraid to ask for advice. As for the cooking, you can't beat a good fry up! The kids also love making kebabs, keeps them occupied - though at the minute it only take the tiniest spark between them (the girls). Andy

Hi Adam, a great video but please read about my horrendous experience with my Cadac on a slightly breezy day. I was using the BBQ and the wind wasn't that strong with only a slight breeze, I left it for only a few minuted to warm up and to get the meat and when I returned the control knob and all the plastic was alight and molten plastic dripping on to the tray below, it was very scary. I didnt use the lid as a windbreak as it was on top to help heat up quicker and I guess that was my fault. The Cadac was unusable and they replaced the whole bottom unit. Their response was that you should always use the lid as a windbreak, but then how do you use the lid for roasting or other cooking and what is the lid for, is it a windbreak or a lid, it cant be both. They also said you should never leave it unattended which makes sense but I would expect it to be safe enough to not catch fire. All I would say is be VERY careful even if there is a slight breeze and maybe use a real wind break. So it is sitting in my shed as to nervous to use it.

Crikey Steve, sounds like a bad experience. I've had nothing like that, if anything it blows out a bit too readily sometimes. I did do something really stupid though. Decided to relight the BBQ (after wind had blown it out) when the gas had still be blowing out of the burner for probably about 10 seconds. Of course so I lit it when there was quite a lot of unburnt gas, as I was peering through one of the holes in the base when I relit, I almost lost eyebrows! Andy

Now that would have made a good video. lol.. But seriously, the gas is passed under pressure through a Venturi which mixes the gas and air before it hits the burner. If the gas is diverted outside of the Venturi and ignites it can also ignite the plastic which for a crazy reason is flammable. I took this up with the Cadac guy at the Feb NEC and he gave me the a card to get spare parts, but could give no assurances if you want to use the lid on top it wont happen again. I would just say, NEVER leave it unattended and maybe put a windbreak around it. I can supply pics if you want.. Steve..

I have a really old Cadac Global Adventure (?) which must be 25 years old. Powered by butane (we use a dumpy little 4.5kg blue bottle which lasts more than a year) it is rather heavy and we carry the dome lid separately from the other kit in its carry-bag. That other kit comprises the tripod legs, the Bunsen burner tube attached pipe going to the regulator and which supports a blue pan which has the gas burner in its middle. On top of that we place a large metal ring and then a whole series of different cooking surfaces go on - one pan is a flat frying surface about 40cm (??) in diameter which, if turned over, gives a ribbed hotplate; there is a Skottel pan which is like a shallow wok but can cook lots of food including stir-fries, and there is lit to make it into a gas BBQ (grills, a circular metal dish with holes in it, to allow heat from the gas burner through but which prevents fat dripping down onto the burner etc. But the piece de resistance is the fact that, with only the blue burner dish and the large metal ring on top, I then have a surface at just the right height for our portable little Go Anywhere Weber charcoal lidded BBQ. Great for cooking things like a butterfly BBQ leg of lamb or spatchcock chicken, it is also great for cooking baked spuds etc on top of the coals. So we used BOTH BBQs regularly. Until last week when we also bought a Leisurewize Fan-Assisted table-top cool sided BBQ. That little gem used for the first time over Easter at a Teesside DA meet at Catterick, uses only a small amount of charcoal in its fuel cup but has a removeable battery powered unit underneath which blows a stream of air up through the coals. Light it at 5pm, you can put your meat on in 5-8 minutes and your cooking can start straight away. Meal can be cooked before, a conventional charcoal BBQ like the Weber would be ready to start cooking. Smaller, it is good for combinations of sausages, burgers and big pork steaks with packages of veg like onions+ Mushrooms, but that’s all I have had chance to try so far. It is so quick I might even do sausages and bacon etc for breakfast on it next week. So the issue is which of those older BBQs do I leave at home when going away only for a weekend? Maybe slim down the Cadac so as only to use it as a stand for the other two, or maybe with the flat frying surfaces only?? Of course that is to ignore the BBQs at home... sometimes I wonder whether it is the BBQs or Caravanning which is my hobby! Probably both. I have been known to do Christmas lunch on a big home BBQ (accepting that Yorkshire’s and some veg can be done in the domestic oven for convenience!). Anyway - thanks for your video. Very good stuff!
