Cabela's 1 3/4hp #42 grinder in action - 40lbs of pork

Putting my new Cabela's Carnivore meat grinder to work - 40lbs of pork shoulder in 3 minutes!
BTW - it sounds alot noisier in the video that it really is, it's about 1/3 as loud as my old small grinder.

I got the 1hp Carnivore and I thought it was overkill. Nice machine you got there. BTW don't use the food stomper with that guard off. I found out the hard way when the auger grabbed it and sent it flying across the room. In case you didn't know it, our machines are made by the same company who builds Weston grinders, and the Cabela's branded ones are considerably less expensive.

Entire chicken is not going to fit into feed chute. With protective gaurds only 2" opening. W Pan's gaurd removed only 2.5"? With all protection removed only 3" diameter? Larger chicken quarters alone requires hole bigger than 3".

What marinade did you use on the pork and what did you use the ground pork for?

Karla Blaise I was making bratwurst, I find it easier to mix my seasoning and ice water with the meat before grinding it.

I have the same model and the head ring nut always seizes. Seized now, and not sure what to do

Howdy! I find that if I turn the motor back on with the grinder head still attached to the motor it will usually come off pretty easy, a couple times I have had to click it into reverse then forward, but it's always worked for me. It's also possible that you could be over tightening it to begin with too. Here's how I tighten mine - oil plate & knife with veg oil or white oil - assemble but do not tighten, leave it just a hair loose - turn on motor and snug down until you hear the motor pitch change/come under slight load. Hope that helps! Happy grinding! 😊

That sounds incredibly helpful! Also, I obviously don’t read directions, so never used the ice wrap. Makes sense that the housing would expand while the head ring nut wouldn’t

I just bought one of these, waiting for it to be delivered. Want to grind bones for dog food. Can it handle beef and pork rib bones?

Is that a 30 quart bowl or bigger?

Way bigger than 30qt, if I remember right it's like 80qt. It can hold 75-85lbs of ground meat easily. It's stainless and weighs 25lbs empty, it's a beast! **Edit, if you watch again, right as I start grinding, I say that the bowl has 40lbs of meat in it, that should give you a better idea of how ridiculously massive it is.

@@knucklhedbbq yeah was looking at 80 qt with a cart and it was $1400. Also I just got a #42 meat grinder. And is no joke! I borrowed a #32. From a friend and loved it. I have a 50 pound mixer but I’m thinking about going with a big bowl like you got

@@icemangresham I got REALLY lucky and got that bowl, without the cart, at a restaurant equipment auction for $60, THEN I saw how much they cost new and couldn't believe it! TBH, if you have a mixer, I don't know that you really need the bowl - I did all my mixing by hand and the bowl was great for that, so much better than a meat lug. But if you have a mixer, meat lugs might be the easier and cheaper way to go. Washing and storing that bowl is awful, even with a large commercial 3 sink. A very useful tool for many things, but I think $1400 might be spent elsewhere. 👊 🍻

Charles Lane27 The meat or the meat grinder? Pork is cheap, the grinder is regularly about $800...
