Just picked mine up at a steak for $200 with a bunch of extras. Couldn’t believe it. I’ve been saving up for the #42 but I couldn’t pass up this deal. Great review guys

I use Cabelas food grade grease for the spline of the auger (just a dab), and for the main auger, plate, and blade, I use the Cabelas food grade silicon spray.

Will this ground chicken and turkey bones? I'm looking for one to make a raw diet for my dogs.

It is the same grinder. Cabela's must have contracted them to change the outer housing to be unique. The Butcher series of grinders that Weston sells are the exact same units that Cabela's used to carry until they changed the look and started calling them the "Carnivore". Also, my Carnivore grinder had an issue where the plates were too big to go into the machine. I called customer service and ended up talking to the folks at Weston. I traded the grinder for a new one, but the plates for it were almost too big and were a sloppy fit, where the 3-hole plate was too big as that particular plate was manufactured slightly too small. If you are going to get one of these machines, make sure all your plates fit the grinder head nicely before leaving the store. Weston / Cabela's did seem to have casting issues on some of the machines.

John, we have not disassembled the unit, so I can't say for sure. What I can tell you is we have mixed several batches ranging from 25lbs to 50lbs of meat with cheese, peppers and liquid and it has not missed one time. We will be releasing a summer sausage video soon and it will be featured so please feel free to stop back by and watch for yourself. Thanks for stopping by the channel!!!

The old one was a 650W motor, the new one is 1HP. 1HP is 746 watts. Not a big difference. It was probably just a cruddy motor on the old one, or over rated.

Thanks for the feedback...we have ground countless number of deer, hogs and cows over the past few years and it hasn't missed one time. We grind our fat when it's frozen and it works well.
