The temperature has been in the mid-upper-90s here in south-central Texas since May - a long, hot, typical summer. This video takes me back to the mid-1990s when we were stationed in Germany and visited Switzerland and Austria. The clock at Landquart station showed 4:15 PM...I remember what it was like at that time of day, at that time of the year: when city lights were just starting to turn on; bundling up in warm clothes; the sensation of breathing the cold, clean air; the wonderful aromas of food cooking in nearby gasthauses; the incredible beauty of the snow-covered mountains and scenery (inhale...exhale...ahhhhhhh). Thank you so very, very much for uploading this video. This is an immensely refreshing virtual holiday break, made even more special from the unobstructed, peaceful, almost mesmerizing view from the locomotive cab.

From about 21:00 to 23:00 ish those mountains coming into clarity were just absolutely stunning. What a beautiful, beautiful ride.

These are the mountains, where Jeb Corliss is grinding the crack. There's a video on youtube. The mountains are called the "Churfirsten".

You might like my latest video. At some places you can't even see the rails.

The sun shining on the mountainside at 6:40 makes it look like it is made of gold. Very majestic and gorgeous scenery. How can anyone say there is no God?

Das ist ein super Video. Die Strecke ist herrlich und geht durch interessante Landschaften. Interessant auch die vielen Abzweigungen oder Zuläufe unterwegs von anderen Bahnstrecken. Danke für die ausgezeichneten Einblendungen im Video zu den Bahnstrecken und Bahnhöfen. Das macht das Video so interessant, weil man gut navigieren kann, wo der Zug sich gerade befindet.

This has become tops on my list of favorite videos. This was also the first one I've seen from Switzerland and I enjoyed it immensely. Now you need to make the same run in the warm months so we can see the beautiful trees and shrubs leafed out. Thank you!

Thanks for the big compliment. Switzerland is a very interesting country to drive trains in. I really enjoy the seasons, the differing landscapes, houses, lakes and other trains. I think I might have recorded this stretch in summer at one stage. My plan was to make a video where I change between seasons during the video - or one side winter, the other summer. In any case, there will be more videos coming, mixed in with a few trainspotting videos. Thanks for watching & commenting!

Beautiful! ☺ I can still remember the journey with the discontinued 'Lorelei Express' from Amsterdam via Germany, Basel, Zurich to Chur and v.v.; on the way to Chur it was a night train and return from Chur through the day and both ways were experienced differently (onwards sleeping a bit roughly in bed and return sitting on bench with beautiful views of sceneries). That was during the last school trip at primary school aged 13, so I am talking about 40 years ago! I have always enjoyed going on trips by train, whether locally or internationally. However, my dream is to take the Orient Express one day! 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃

Was für ein cooles Streckenvideo, hatte gehofft es gäbe ein Video wo diese Trajektorie zu finden war! damit als Reotate. Ich war ungefähr 10 Jahre (oder länger) in Bad Ragaz im Urlaub, daher kenne ich den ersten Teil dieser Route sehr vage! wenn ich mir Zürich anschaue, schmecke es zu mehr Routen von dieser Station, hoffe es gibt sie! Thanks for the nice comment! I'm amazed myself at the way Swiss rail traffic controllers make full use of the tracks and the density of the track changers (or whatever you call those points on the open tracks). More cab ride videos are coming.

I once travelled from Calais to Basel and then on to Interlaken, on a Scout Troop exchange. It was *the* best railway journey I ever made. I love Swiss trains. This journey was a pure treat and so relaxing to watch and a unique perspective too. I will subscribe. Thank you so much for the journey. One question, what do the beeps signify please?

Deebz270 Thanks for your comment! The high pitch beeps are the train asking the driver to confirm he or she are awake. The low pitch indicates an upcoming speed reduction which the driver must confirm.
