It's meant to be less lethal as in you probably could take a round without to much damage, though it depends where. Your arm or leg would have a massive bruise but your eye or cheekbone are probably screwed.

Most of us now use real gun if you think u can use this for self defence with someone using real gun u r meat 🍖 🥓

All coil guns are weak. What they need is to optimize coils for maximum current and therefore maximum magnetic field. You’d probably need a one Tesla or greater magnetic field to mimic a 9mm bullet energy level, and that is already insanely powerful for a solenoid. There might just be a limit to how powerful they can get while remaining small enough to hold like a rifle.

Looks cool but also looks as lethal as an glorified air rifle. Seen one demo with dude hitting paper squash targets. Most of the disks bounced off especially on the shot gun mode. Disks tend to wobble too much. It's basically a glorified Frisby gun. It'll hurt but won't do squat to stop someone high on PCP.
