Game was very exciting, but I never could finnish it. It was finally a pleasure to see the ending. Cheers from Finland!

I like how the player made more progress by the five minute mark than I did in my first two hours of gameplay. Plus, sort of broke the game world logic by having Overbight order Henry to unlock the doors without bothering to mention the murder victim he'd just seen. Oh, and the attempt made on Foxworth's life was before almost anyone knew the corpse had even been discovered. And how the whole shooting birds red herring isn't mentioned by anyone until the denouement. Fun trivia for people who've never played it with a real 1541 sitting next to you - the reason Regis and Foxworth sometimes stand around like ninnies before they decide to climb stairs or open a door is because the game is still loading. The loading occurs during the entire stair walking segment and for about 10 seconds afterwards. If you try to switch to another screen or take more stairs before that's finished the game grinds to a halt until the loading sequence is done so it can start the next one. And I love how everyone speaks for the murderer and they all decide to gloss over the fact that someone threw a knife at the guy investigating the crime.

I still remember playing this game on the original C64 back in the 1980s! Today I own a The C64 from Retro Games and wanted to play this point and klick adventure. The game starts (after I tried several versions), but I can not choose any of the text options with the joystick (when I press down/up/right/left with the joystick, the hand does not move)! Has anyone a solution or workaround to this issue?

Always wanted to see more point-and-click adventures on the C64..... i guess this was a disc-only game?

So......... WHO THREW THE KNIFE AT 6:21 ?!?!?! That was ATTEMPTED MURDER!!!! Despite Mrs. Smallworth being found "not guilty" for the reasons stated at the end, did she have a part in the attempted murder of an Investigator??? If not.... Accomplice in Henry??? or perhaps it goes deeper and someone else on the boat is a MURDERER and missed killing him. a HUGE plot hole that was not resolved at the very end. I remember CLEARLY completing this game as a teenager and it was VERY DISAPPOINTING when I found out they just ignored the "FLYING KNIFE" attempt on Foxworth's life!!! Maybe explored further in the NEXT CHAPTER that was never made??? I would have liked to have seen this game begin a "STORY ARC" of games to solve another mystery in New Orleans when they arrive 3 days later...

@TheRationalOptimist Also, trying to recall, but I'm POSITIVE this game has way too many ways to create NO WIN SCEANARIOS...one being GLADDYS RAIL TICKET/JEWELS in the CAPTAINS safe on the BRIDGE. If you do not write the notes in the correct way, you can never get that conversation again and you cannot get enough evidence to accuse MISS SMALLWORTH.... also the back and forth near the end with DAISY DUPREE, if not done correctly, you also cannot get the perfume bottle and the other things... Also a maybe, I THINK also, don't hold me to this, but I also recall once you DODGE the knife to the head, if you then just leave the room WITHOUT TAKING THE BULLET, I also recall it NOT BEING IN THE ROOM AGAIN when you reenter, MEANING game over.... you need that bullet for evidence matching with the Derringer and such.... G A M E O V E R

I would never have guessed that an attempted rape by the victim was involved with this story. I remember unlocking every room, and meticulously taking notes, all of which seems to have been very, very unnecessary, and equal parts time-consuming.
