C64 Longplay - Dragon's Lair

Ойын-сауық

A walthrough from the c64 game of the Arcade conversation "Dragon's lair" I've cutted some scenes from the chessboard level to keep the 10 minutes limitation.

Someone just watching this walkthrough without having played the game would have no idea how difficult this is. It has to be one of the most unforgiving games I've ever had. Anyway, I'm glad I can finally dee all the levels now... thanks for posting it!

true, @@madzen112 , they skipped a good chunk of the Chessboard level because it's otherwise a very boring boss fight. Ok, because there was the 10 minute limit back then, but still....it's not the most exciting level. Interesting twist how the music does have a few notes descending every few minutes.

I recently got a Commodore 64 and this was one of the games I got with it. It may not be arcade-perfect in terms of graphics, but in terms of the frustration.....yeah, they nailed that shit RIGHT ON THE HEAD.

That ad was probably just illustrating the laserdisc used for the original arcade game. The C64 didn't really have anything more advanced than 3&1/2" floppies by the end of its life, though people have since made adapters for hard drives and flash cards that would make a real arcade conversion a possibility.

I downloaded an illegal copy of this from a BBS and somewhere during the download, it crashed, so I only downloaded like a 1/4 of the game and talk about screwed up. The falling platform, the cloud would appear about 20 times before you could jump off. At times you could literally run on the air. When you jumped off the platform...you had to press up, right, up, right, up right, up, right to make it into the tunnel without falling off

I never made it past the second stage back in the days. Looking at the full thing in all its horrendous length, difficulty and patience-testing game-play makes me very proud of my decision to give up as soon as I did. I am SO glad I never paid for this piece of rubbish - piracy seemed to be the norm back than, at least for the C64... I hated this on the CBM64. It makes sense as a way to make you pay in an arcade as its literally trial-and-error for how to deal with a lot of it (jump? which direction? hit?) On a home PC it's just random death for the sake of it until you guess what to do.
